Chapter 20-Edited
Chinmayi's POV:
OMG!
It's Deepak!
That Deepak!
The D of Deepak...
I mean...
Aah...
You know what I mean right?
That very Deepak...
You know, the Deepak who didn't dare show his face to me-
The Deepak who wasn't even affected by the shadow casted by my presence-
His brother is actually like Lord Ram, so shouldn't he be Lakshman?
Of course he is-
The greatest epitome of arrogance...
What do I do?
Those two eyes which in reality didn't even care to glance at the angle of that area where I stood, but now it's piercing right at me!
I stood there, a strange, unfriendly feeling filled with pain, disappointment and fate conquered every inch of my heart as I trembled.
What do I do?
Am I bound to this kind of relationship forever?
What about my dreams?
It's not that I had a dream guy in my tiny little head, but you must ask Megha, she knows my choice and taste, so really, Deepak merely is a living soul of The Unknown.
{Capital T, capital U}.
"Hello?
He-hello Chinmayi?"
Oh good Lord! So this is how his voice sounds like.- And he just said MY NAME.
Chinnu- Respond! Respond!!
Just then, to save me from all sorts of embarrassment, came my two awesome brothers, Vivek and of course Charan.
"Hi Deepak! How have you been doing? Hope you reached home on time?", asked Vivek Bhai.
" Yeah Vivek, thank you. My brother wanted to wish Megha for her birthday. I mean we are family now, so, he said it would be great if we could catch up on such important and special occasions. ", Deepak said this with a smile.
Literally people, his lips exercised wide and a bit upwards tangentially.
SMILE.
Seriously I didn't know how to even react, I just stood there holding the phone while Vivek Bhai and Charan continued to talk.
"Oh, that's mighty kind of you! Of course you can. Megha, she's right here.", said Charan.
Megha swiftly came in front of the phone, as she sat in between Charan and me.
"Namaste Deepak ji", she said with folded palms.
I felt Charan putting his head down and smile in pride as his love of his life carried and portrayed culture every single time and super implicitly, and most importantly, undictated.
"Hey Megha, Many more happy returns!"
"Thank you, Deepak Ji. Sorry that you had to stay awake after a really long day, just to wish me."
"Oh, please, we are family now, no such formalities and please call me Deepak. The additional 'Ji' makes it all super weird and I feel old."
"Oh!", chuckled Megha as she continued, "You are our Jamaai Saahab. So, it is our duty being the girl's side to give you the respect..."
"Oh, come on, I am just like Charan or Vivek or any other family member. Don't make me feel like a stranger; plus, I am destined to marry your best friend, which means, we become the bestest of friends...", smiled Deepak.
WHHHHAAAAAAATT???
DESTINED TO MARRY ME?
MEGHA AND HIM ARE GOING TO BE BESTEST OF FRIENDS??
Hey, hello hello hello? She is mine, Okay?
I don't even know you, you arrogant piece of smiley face.
Wish my friend and say bye and go and sleep. Don't you dare take her away from me...
I glared.
If he listens to my mind-voice right now, and felt the warmth of my glares. He would have prayed that he should have been a phoenix to rise from the ashes.
Is he even listening to himself?
Am I really supposed to marry a joker like him?
I turned to look at Megha and gave her a little nudge.
She smiled. Like, as if she understood everything.
That's why she is the best.
"Oh, Deepak ji, I mean- uh- Deepak, it's mighty kind of you... Of course, Chinmayi is my best friend and I could tell you a lot about her. PS: she is amazing!"
Vivek Bhai laughed as Bhaabhi also came close to the phone screen to wave a hi at Deepak.
Charan put a protective arm around Megha, he is super possessive of her, you know.
Deepak just smiled.
" Hi Bhaabhi, it's nice to meet you again... "
" Hi Deepak ji, its really nice of you to catch up with us on our Megha's birthday!!"
"it's my pleasure. Thanks to Veera Bhabhi. I mean, is she around? Eeshwar is nudging me, so I guess we should let them talk?"
Bhaabhi laughed as a smile broke on everyone else's face, surprisingly, including mine.
Veera somehow adjusted herself to manage to appear on the screen.
" Hi Bhabhi!! "
Veera smiled and waved.
" Ummm, before I handover the phone to Eeshwar, I mean all of you are there, so I just wanted to take your permission. Especially, Vivek and Charan's! Considering you are the elder brothers' of Chinmayi..."
What is seriously happening?
Why should he take permission from my brothers'?
And about what does he want to take permission?
My hand is already hurting from holding the phone for a seriously long time from this stupid fellow's conversation...
And now, he is blushing!
Why???
Out of nowhere, Eeshwar ji appeared on the other side.
"Hi guys-
Hi Megha.
A very very happy and healthy birthday to you..."
Every shocked face somehow threw a sweet and kind smile. Megha thanked Eeshwar ji and yet the puzzled look wasn't washed away with Deepak's so called permission seeking.
"Woah woah woah, you all look so puzzled.
My little brother just wanted to ask of he could take your darling sister", and looking at Megha, who tried so hard to look normal, "And your friend out for a lunch or coffee? You know, more like a date? Just to get to know each other..."
My jaw dropped.
A DATE?
I mean, what?
Everyone sat in statue position.
Super glued and rooted to their spots.
No one knew how to reply.
It's either them or me who is going to be offended.
My siblings had to play their cards very wisely.
Their sister or their super awesome Jamaai Sahabs!!
Sarcasm is the language u speak when I am angry and this irritated...
Just then, my mother walked in.
No one noticed that she was around until then.
"Namaste jamai sahab... Deepak ji, Eeshwar ji... Bahut bahut badaa dil hai aapkaa.. Hamaaru Megha ki janmdin par Aapne samay nikalke baath kar rahe hai..."
"Nahi Nahi, aunty ji... Why are you using such big words? Aren't we family as well?", said Eeshwar ji, with such politeness.
Veera is super lucky, I said to myself. Isn't Eeshwar, a gem of a man?
"Aunty ji, if you don't mind, can I take Chinmayi out for a day? I don't want to talk indirectly and I always like to be frank, open and up-front. We have hardly met and if we have been destined to get married, shouldn't we know at least a bit about each other? Please don't tak eme wrong, I openly said what is in my heart... "
"Arrey, Deepak ji, seriously what kind of question is this? You can take her and go. It is your greatness to think that you should ask elders' permission. I don't have any problem. I'll let Chinnu's father know. Don't worry..."
