The Power They Wield

Hadrian and Marcus sat down in the same spot surrounded by Slytherins of thier house. Hadrian had not even touched the food in front of him when he saw someone sit in front of him. Hadrian looked up to see Damien, once again, like always, seated in front of him.

"I need to talk to you." Damien said with a serious look on his face.

"When do you ever not need to talk to me?" Hadrian said while helping himself to some pancakes.

"Harry, what happened yesterday...you can't go around treating people like that! You can't call others such disgusting names and you sure as hell can't hurt others like you hurt Ron and your twin." Damien said the last part as quietly as he could.

Hadrian and Marcus just blinked at Damien.

"And you think just because you're telling me this I'm going to listen?" Hadrian gritted his teeth as he leaned closer to Damien while the surrounding air turned cold.

"The Great Albus Dumbledore wants us to train them. That is all he did." Marcus stated with his ever present smirk.

"Just because you're a spoiled little brat who gets whatever the hell he wants from his no good parents, doesn't mean that you can tell me what I can and cannot do! I am the Joker in case you forgot" Hadrian hissed at Damien.

Damien looked utterly shocked at Hadrian's words. He took a deep breath and calmed himself down before speaking to his elder brother.

"Harry, first of all I am not some spoiled kid who gets everything I want that's your twin, second, if you ever call our parents that again I will show you just how much damage I can do."

Hadrian could barely control the laughter that came at these words. The whole time the Slytherins watched the young Gryffindor with bated breath.

"Do you even think before you speak? You really think you can threaten me? Listen here, I've hurt more, killed more people than you've met in your life. I don't know what you've been told about me that is not in the News, but it obviously isn't the truth since you don't seem to realise how much pain I can cause. If anything, the only emotion you should feel for me is fear." Hadrian finished.

"Well, I don't fear you, not in the slightest. I idolize you Harry. And I know that I should be afraid of you, especially after last night but I'm not. As for what I should feel towards you, Harry whether you like it or not you're my brother and I can't hate my own blood. No matter what you say or do."

With that said Damien got up to face a rather shocked looking Hadrian. "By the way, they have not mentioned last night's incident to anyone, and you shouldn't either." Hadrian was brought out of his shock at this.

"Why?" Hadrian asked

"Well, it would only cause problems. Not only for you but for Michael and Ron as well as they attacked you when you didn't have a wand to protect yourself. "

Damien made his way out of the Great Hall and left a very confused Hadrian behind.

The next few days passed by rather uneventfully. Hadrian was surprised to see that Damien had gone back to himself again and had constantly bothered either one with anything.

The Slytherins all knew to not bug the two. However, the rest of the Gryffndor and the other houses were taking a lot of interest in Hadrian and Marcus.

It seemed the entire teenage girl population wanted to talk to the messy haired, green eyed, gorgeous and mysterious boy. Or his equally mysterious, Dark brown haired, blue eyed boy. They ignored them as much as possible. Most girls didn't even speak to either of them, they just stared at them and giggled behind their hands. 'Stupid Girls' Marcus muttered and sent to Hadrian who snorted in amusement.

They did Find out that at the last minute Sirius got reassigned to a different case. So that meant James Potter followed them around along with the silent aurors.

Marcus and Hadrian were pulled aside before breakfast by James. Hadrian watched as James pulled two wands out and handed it over to their owners. The teens took the wand apprehensive but frowned when they touched it. The wand was not their own, that much was obvious, but there was something else not right about the wand. He turned a questioning look at James.

"The wands are only used for simple spells only, mainly in class. It has been specifically prepared for you both. It will allow all the necessary spells to be cast for your classes but you'll not be able to do much else with it."

James watched as Hadrian's face turned red with anger, his knuckles had turned white as he tightly grasped the wand.

"You've tampered with the wand?" Hadrian asked through clenched teeth.

"Yes, we have. It is the only way we can make sure there is no threat. Until you can prove that we can trust you with your own wand, you'll have to make do with this one." James was praying Hadrian wouldn't wandlessly blast him through the school or freeze him to death.

Hadrian was very close to doing just that. He was outraged that he had been given a wand that was usually given to kids, so that they can do magic but only very controlled magic. Hadrian gritted his teeth as he spoke to James once again.

"When I get out of this mess Potter, remind me to give all of you sorry excuses of wizards a horrible death." James only smiled back at Hadrian's death threat. James got one almost everyday from Hadrian now since he found out about Sirius. "I sure will." he said casually, causing Hadrian's eyes to turn darker in colour, Hadrian stormed into the hall and sat down at his table with Marcus glaring at James as he followed Hadrian into class.

After Charmes Class the two were led to Defence against the Dark Arts class. Now this was a class that Hadrian was actually looking forward to. They went inside and sat down in one of the middle rows, and waited for the DADA professor to show up. As Remus Lupin walked in, Hadrian felt a small smile creep onto his face. Remus wouldn't know how to treat Hadrian and Marucs. Surely he wouldn't dare to ignore them like the rest of the staff at Hogwarts, but Lupin couldn't treat them like a normal student either. Hadrian was going to enjoy Lupin's class and since Hadrian was in such a foul mood today he needed something to entertain him.

Lupin stood in front of his class and surveyed the students sitting in front of him. His attention was brought to Marcus and Hadrian instantly. Lupin was excited to have them both in his class but was now notably nervous as he knew those two would be bored out of their minds.

Lupin then pointed his wand at the board behind him and instantly there were instructions on wand movement for casting a befuddling jinx.

Hadrian watched in complete shock as Lupin started explaining the correct incantation and wand movement to befuddle the mind of an attacker. Hadrian couldn't believe it. The sixth year students at Hogwarts were learning a befuddlement jinx at N.E.W.T level! Hadrian had that particular jinx learnt at the age of eight. He looked towards Marcus who he knew they both agreed on this.

'This is going to be long.'

Hadrian watched as the majority of the class started practising the jinx. Out of the entire class only two students managed to do the correct wand movement. Hadrian was disturbed that one of them was Hermione Granger. The other was a blond haired Slytherin, whose name Hadrian didn't know.

Lupin was so far ignoring the two since they were not participating and Hadrian decided it was time to have a little fun of his own. After all, any other Professor that Hadrian annoyed would go straight to Dumbledore and Hadrian would have to listen to a long, annoying lecture from the Headmaster, but Lupin was a different story. Lupin would be reporting directly to Sirius his godfather and then he would have to show up. Hadrian and Marucs actually enjoyed their company almost as much as Snape's dry humor. Hadrian crossed his arms around his chest and leaned back in his chair waiting for the right opportunity to annoy Lupin.

Lupin continued the lecture and started explaining the correct pronunciation of the spell and asked if anyone had any questions at this point. Usually when Lupin asked this question he didn't expect any answers. That was what the Duelling class was for. Professor Potter was the one who controlled the duelling club for students from third year to seventh year. Whatever the class teamed in theory with Lupin was usually practised in the club with Professor Potter. However for the first time in Lupin's class a student did ask a question. Lupin felt the horrible feeling of panic take him as he saw Hadrian open his mouth to ask a question.

"I have a question. Why are you teaching a pointless jinx when there are so many other spells that are worth learning?"

The silence that followed Hadrian's question could have been a first for Hogwarts. The Slytherins and Gryffindors were sitting with their mouths hanging open. Not only did the new kid ask a question, he actually ridiculed a Professor's teaching. The Slytherins mouthed to the rest of the Gryffindors 'he's so dead'.

Professor Lupin smiled turning his face at Hadrian and Marcus. He walked over to the pair and couldn't help feeling panic stricken when he saw the amusement in their eyes. Sirius is so going to hear of this.

"Mr Paire, you are new here so I'm going to give you what I haven't done before the benefit of the doubt. If you have questions regarding the casting of a spell then feel free to ask questions, but if you are going to voice your opinion on my curriculum then I will have to ask you to keep your opinions to yourself "

Hadrian simply smirked back at the Professor and answered in his most polite voice. "Well I'm sorry for upsetting you Professor but I just thought that rather than waste everyone's time it would be better if you would actually teach Defence against the Dark Arts rather than spells that are completely pointless, not to mention hopeless, if ever to be used in combat. I mean after all we are in the middle of war, how is a befuddling jinx going to help against the unforgivables?"

Hadrian actually heard the sharp intake of breath from the students in the room. Truth was that Hadrian didn't care if the students of Hogwarts were being taught anything of value, as the new generation of Witches and Wizards would not have enough knowledge on how to fight and protect themselves. Hadrian was only saying this to get a rise out of Lupin, which was immensely entertaining for the raven haired boy.

Hadrian kept his green eyes locked with Lupin's amber ones. Lupin seemed to be having difficulty speaking. Hadrian kept a straight face and looked at him with faked innocence as Lupin struggled to respond to Hadrian. The entire class' focus was now on Lupin. What punishment would come Hadrian's way? To everyone's utter surprise Lupin just smiled at Hadrian.

"Alright Mr. Paire, maybe you would like to stay behind today and give me a list of all the spells that would be more worthwhile learning."

"You're giving me detention?" Hadrian asked still with a calm voice and a smirk.
