A Duel to Bet
"Where on Earth do you keep going?" Marcus yelled one morning to which Hadrian smirked, "well answer me, I know others don't seem to notice, but I do."
"How many towers are there?"
Marcus stared at Hadrian for what felt like ages, until he realized Hadrian wasn't giving him anything more. "I don't know...five?"
Hadrian smiled and nodded his head, "well let's get down to the Great Hall, class starts soon."
With that Hadrian left their room leaving Marcus to chase after him. It was now October, the chill breeze stayed in the outside air. By now the Slytherins all knew they weren't to mess with but other houses they never learned. But now the Slytherins knew they were in charge if something were to happen, Hadrian or Marcus could get them out.
Making their way to the group of the table he noticed Draco had a letter this morning, smirking as he sat down piling his plate filled with food. "How's your uncle?"
Draco blinked confusedly seeing Hadrian motioning to the letter he smiled. "He found a place in America, it has a lot of land. He also wanted to thank you for your help. We need a way out."
"You beat the pay was good, is your mother going to join."
"Possibly," Draco answered absentmindedly as he started to eat his food.
As breakfast continued the Slytherins were joined by Damian, it was now two months into the school year they all came to the conclusion to watch out for the younger Potter. Who was always with Hadrian at meal times. "So Harry, how is the training going?"
Hadrian raised an eyebrow at his younger brother, so far Damian has been wanting to join in on the training and well Hadrian was reluctant to let him join. Sharing a look of absolute discus with Marcus then back to Damian. " Lets see.." Hadrian started but his answer was shared with Marcus.
"Dreadful, terrible, horrible...
"Grim, awful...
"Shocking, appalling...
"Ghastly. horrendous...
And calamitous" They finished together, taking in the look of shock and embarrassed look of Damian.
"Surely they are not that bad.." Damian stammered, he was told from a young age Michelle has been trained before he came to Hogwarts.
"They can't even hold up a sward," Marcus drawled, "let alone hold a duel longer than a minute."
"Though the jinx has been most helpful" Draco added which created a prominent smirk on Hadrian.
"And the exercise, no matter how much they complain," Blaise interrupted the conversation.
Damian looked from all the Slytherins, he was so getting tired of this, "Well tell."
Hadrian chuckled at the pout Damian shared, "relax little Gryffindor don't get all hissy, I placed a wonderful jinx on the Golden Trio." At this point Marcus couldn't keep his poker face up any longer and broke into a huge laughing smile. "When ever any of them say anything with "Boy-Who-Lived" or their fame anything disgraceful bigotry, and just plain rude remarks..." The smirk on Hadrian's face made him look ready to kill...or a really enjoyable embarrassing prank. "Well lets just say they will be in a bit of an embarrassment."
Damian rolled his eyes at the Slytherins, in order to get something out of them you have to ask out right or they just beat around the bush. As the muggle saying goes. But before he had the chance of asking them a scream invaded the Great Hall. All heads turned to where the sound was coming from, There in the middle of the isle between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables was the Golden Trio. Except there was a noticeable difference, Michelle who was in the middle, was holding his hands up filled with his dark cherry black hair, leaving no hair on his dead. A panic faced Micheal ran out of the room. Hermione and Ron both ran to follow their leader.
The hall, once clear of the Golden trio burst into laughter, it has been a while since someone targeted them with a prank. Damian was in a mix of being both historical and angry, at making their brother look like the fool he really was or for finally getting him one. Shaking his head not to sure what to do and went back to eating his breakfast.
"...Please Harry you are like one of the best flyers" making Marcus hit the blond in the gut "okay and Marcus you're the best flyer too...Just second to Harry here."
"Why?" Hadrian rolled his eyes at Draco. The full Slytherin group that made up some family Hadrian and Marcus created, all gave Hadrian the deadpan look
"Harry just think, you both know of Quidditch, you had whatever you called yours at-"
"Death-Quidditch" Marcus huffed
That answer made Draco stop and looked at the two "I will never fathom how to even play it." Which ended up having Draco in the receiving end of a blink form Hadrian and a feral grin from Marcus. Shivering, and trying to ignore the cold chill Draco continued on "anyways you both would be really good to have on the team."
Still the Slytherins didn't get a response they wanted Alec added "plus you can get the chance at beating your twin."
That got the reaction they wanted from Hadrian, his bright emerald eyes darkened just a bit. "You want a duel."
The whole Slytherin group fell into a muttering mess of 'why didn't we just mention that first.' Theo then nodded "yes if we get a scratch or any other injury on you or Marcus we win and you both try-out. If we lose then we won't bring it up again."
The two 'exchange students' looked at each other then Marcus nodded his head causing Hadrian to roll his eyes in annoyance.
"Deal," they both said falling into their stances. It was just like training when they were kids back at the school, Hadrian's home. The both boys were on the offensive side knowing they can both get into big trouble. But in truth Hadrian can take them all, probably a little arrogant there, he thought to himself.
Draco and Theo were both throwing curses at the Joker and Ace, hard press but they really wanted them on the team for Quidditch. So they agreed to continue with throwing spells of any high range of damage. Which then failed as Hadrian conjured a sward but like any pure blood they were well trained.
"What you really think I can just stand there, a duel is a duel."
"You're right in that area, now we can have some fun." Theo said with a broad grin as mettle clashed with mettle. The four of them went back and forth with the great swards they conjured.
In some instances it could have been seen as an intense battle which was what the rest of the student populous thought of when they entered the Dueling class room. "Alright that's enough!"
Silence filled the room as James Potter, known Auror in the battle of Death Eaters, walked into the room. His Auror outfit was on and his eyes stared at Hadrian and Marcus. "Dueling is the art of fighting and here it is only for practice, not a battle. Put the weapons away." All the Gryffindors smiled knowing the Slytherins were in trouble but to everyone else there was nothing to it. "Well welcome to the Dueling class, we will be meeting once a week. It is good to see familiar faces and new ones joining us" James said, slowing his gaze to Hadrian "as you all should know this is class, ask questions you may have and today we will start with a one-on-one mock duel. You all know the drill and help the younger ones."
"This is going to be so much fun," Damian whispers with a huge smile on his face as he all of a sudden he was standing in between Marcus and Hadrian. They both stopped and shared the same question 'how did he get there?' which came up with no answer. "I can't wait to see you duel Harry. It's going to be awesome."
A friendly duel, that would be interesting, he couldn't even name the last time he actually had one that didn't end up getting someone killed. It was just unheard of to Hadrian. But he followed the other students as they each put their own name into the goblet of their house and waited for their mane to be called.
"Settle down, as most of you know two names will come out of one of the goblets, that are from two of the four houses. To begin we will have Hannah Abbot and Daphne Greengrass' ' and so the long class began, a pair would go up to the stand and fire off some spells though Hadrian was impressed with some of the older ones and even younger ones. He never did show it just clapped a little longer than the others.
Hadrian was about to doze off towards the end of the class when Marcus elbowed his side. "Really, that hurt." he hissed to Marcus which then got a laugh.
"Yes well it's supposed to," Marcus laughed, "your names up."
He looked at the board, indeed it was. He was up in two rounds though he smiled when he saw who his name was next to. Hadrian Paire and.....
