Chapter Twenty Nine - Go
I eventually fell asleep on Damian's shoulder somewhere between season two and three. By the time morning came, he'd finished season three of Once Upon A Time, leaving me to wonder how the hell Belle and Rumple had broken up again.
Damian offered me a granola bar for breakfast, which I accepted eagerly. He tousled my hair with a smile.
"We'd better go Sweetheart," he decided around 7:45. I nodded. We'd already waited too long.
I grabbed my pack of supplies from the floor, and Damian ushered me out. He locked the door behind us and set off down the path toward the helipad.
The ride was filled with quiet anticipation, like the second before a balloon pops - everyone knows it's about to happen, but the exact second is unknown. By the time we landed the copter and hid it under a gray/green tarp in the middle of Maine, it was around noon.
Damian opted to get lunch at a nearby town, and we ate pizza in silence. I kept glancing around me, silently hating how open and public we were. But, as Damian explained, the most secret things are hidden in plain sight. But I felt the stares, especially since we were wearing all black clothing. We probably looked like bank robbers.
It was night when we finally decided that it was time. Damian took my hand into his big one, just like Peter had done the last time I'd seen him, and we walked toward the Institute.
"Wanna gun?" Damian offered, holding it out with his other hand. I laughed.
"You don't need a weapon when you were born one."
"Fine Ms. Cocky. Let's see who can take down the most people when we get there."
"You're on."
