Chapter Seventeen - Training
Four days passed. I'm determined to get Peter and Melanie into shape and ready to go. They're getting better; they both can do fifty laps around the gym without throwing up now, but I need them to be stronger. They must be as brave as a lion, as fast as a cheetah, as strong as a diamond...ok I'll stop making stupid similes.
But seriously, if we have any hope of succeeding, they need to be prepared to do anything. Peter and Melanie don't agree, of course, but neither did I when I was going through the same training a few years ago.
"Well?" Damian asked in a low voice beside me. We were watching Melanie and Peter jog around the gym for the hundredth time that morning.
"They'll be ready soon."
"How soon?" He persisted.
"One more day," I decided after a small hesitation. Damian nodded.
"Have you studied the building plans?"
"Only a million times," I joked.
"Make it two million. C'mon, Eris we can't-"
"Fail. I know," I interrupted. "But I know the Institute. They'll try to kill us, and when that doesn't work, welcome us with open arms. They'll ask me where I've been. Get answers. Don't worry."
Damian sighed, and muttered, "I hope you really know what you're doing."
"You're the one how came up with this plan. I'm following you."
"Yes, but you're the one who was supposed to point out faults and perfect the plan," Damian argued.
"Which I did. Now go do your job and leave us alone."
Damian left. I rubbed my nose, wondering exactly what I was doing. What if this did fail?
But no, it couldn't. We'd been over the plan a hundred times. They drop me, Peter, and Melanie off in Maine, as near to the old Institute building as we could get. Then we'd walk around until the Institute picked us up and brought us in.
We'd be interrogated and punished, probably. Then they'd ship us off to the main Institute. Little would they know that I'd have a small tracking device in my mouth, disguised as a tooth.
All three of us would get away somehow after four days at the main Institute. Then our guys would come in and take them out. Ta da! Destroyed.
Simple enough...
We could do it...
Probably...
Ok, I'm sorry. This is only a filler chapter. Hope you enjoyed :)
