Out of the Frying Pan
"You ready to go?" Dark asked Anti as he stood by the door, car keys in hand.
"We're meeting up with everyone at your car, right?" Anti asked as he picked up his phone and stuck it in his pocket.
"Yeah." Dark nodded.
"Lets go then." Anti sighed wearily, walking with Dark towards their car.
Amy, Signe, Marzia, Sean and Felix were already down there waiting for them somewhat impatiently.
Wordlessly everyone climbed into the car, Dark in the driver's seat, Anti next to him in the passenger seat, then the others in the middle and back seats.
"What if something went wrong while we were away?" Amy whispered to herself, earning eye rolls from everyone.
"He's okay, the hospital would've called us and said if something went wrong." Signe pointed out.
"I hope so." Amy mumbled.
When they arrived, Amy was the first person out of the car and was walking quickly towards the door with the others chasing after her.
"Are you all Mark Fischbach's friends?" The receptionist questioned without looking up from her computer.
They al nodded in reply.
"Down the hall, fourth door to your right." She directed.
The five followed her instructions and entered Mark's room with Amy in front, darting over to Mark and hugging him tightly.
"Hey babe." Mark whispered in her ear, briefly kissing her on the cheek as he hugged her back.
"She was worried about you all night." Marzia smirked.
"N-No I wasn't!" Amy's face blushed a bright red.
"Dude, you kept talking about Mark all night so I made a tally. You mentioned you were worried about him twenty three times." Signe snorted in amusement.
"Only twenty-three times?" Mark teased her.
Mark laughed as Amy stayed silent, her face burning brighter as she wiggled out of Mark's embrace and shuffled to the back of the room to try and avoid further embarrassment.
"You survive the night?" Anti chimed in from the back of the room with Dark.
"Somewhat." Mark shrugged.
"Yeah, hospitals are like that. I've been in my fair share of them, even before I became a doctor." Anti's gaze grew distant.
"Probably because you kept trying to do stupid stuff." Dark nudged him playfully.
"You did too!" Anti nudged him back, sticking his tongue out at him.
"Since he seemed stable overnight, he can compete today." The doctor added from in the back.
"Good, I was worried I wouldn't get to beat you in the finals." Felix joked.
"I need to see how I do first." Mark chuckled.
"You'll do the best you can. I know you, your best will get you in the finals." Jack encouraged him.
The doctor shooed them out so Mark could get changed, as well as get some painkillers and sign all of the paperwork that would allow him to leave.
Mark came back out wearing his black t-shirt, lucky flannel, tennis shoes, and jeans with a bottle of pills in hand and a look of relief to be leaving on his face as the six walked back to Dark's car and drove to the rink where the competition was being held.
"I couldn't get a hold of you two, I was worried something happened." Smith admitted as Mark and Amy approached her out front of the rink.
"Glad to see you two in one piece." Murphy's eyes gleamed as he hugged the two.
Anti hid behind Dark, afraid to face Murphy again as Dark squeezed his hand reassuringly.
"This way." Taylor roughly led Marzia and Felix to their room.
"Break a leg!" Dark yelled after them before walking with Anti to Schenk.
Half an hour later, the four groups were dressed in their uniforms and waiting to be called into the rink in their rooms. Thankfully each room had a tv that showed what happened on the rink.
Amy and Mark were the first team to go.
Dark and Anti went to sit in the audience to watch them while the others stayed in their rooms to warm up and watch from the TVs.
Suddenly Dark started laughing, confusing Anti as he glanced over at him.
"What?" Anti smirked.
"It's just...we've tried so hard to hate them, yet here we are supporting them and being their friends." Mark explained as he shook his head in disbelief.
"Now welcome the team from America, Mark and Amy!" The announcer declared from the judge's table up front.
Just as Amy and Mark skated out, black smoke abruptly started billowing around them from out of nowhere, rapidly clouding up the entire rink.
People started screaming and running for the exits while Anti and Dark ran towards Mark and Amy.
"Hello old friends."
Before either could react, they both felt needles stab into their necks before blackness overtook their vision, causing them to fall unconscious onto the ice.
