Chapter 3: The Elder's Warning
Lyra rushed through the village, her heart pounding in her chest. She had to speak with the village elder, the one person who might understand the strange power of the jewel. Her mind buzzed with questions. Who was the cloaked man? What did he want with the jewel? And why had it chosen her?
When she finally reached the elder's hut, she burst through the door, startling the old woman seated by the fire. "Elder, I found it," Lyra panted, opening her hand to reveal the glowing gem.
The elder's eyes widened in shock, her weathered hands trembling as she reached for the jewel. "The Jewel of Destiny..." she whispered, her voice filled with awe and fear.
Lyra nodded, her voice shaky. "But someone tried to take it from me. He said it wasn't mine."
The elder took a deep breath, her expression grave. "The jewel chooses its bearer, Lyra, and now it has chosen you. But its power comes with great responsibility and even greater danger. There are forces in this world—dark forces—who will stop at nothing to control it."
Lyra felt a chill run down her spine. "What should I do?"
The elder looked her in the eyes, her voice soft but firm. "You must learn to wield its power carefully. The Jewel of Destiny allows you to shape your future, but every choice comes with a price. You cannot change your fate without consequences."
Lyra felt the weight of the elder's words sink in. She had always longed for adventure, but now that she had found it, it was far more perilous than she'd imagined.
