Get out
Johnny_Ornaldo_is_mine changed the group's name to 'KnUckLeHeADs🤪'
I click the corner button of my phone, switching it off with a sigh. I watch as the numerous rays of sunlight enter my bright room through the window panes, creating exquisite patterns on the wall.
I roll over my bed, attempting to climb off it, but instead, end up planting my face onto the ground.
'Ouch,' I groan with pain as my chestnut brown locks litter my distraught face. Very graceful, I know.
I stretch my arms, locking my hands above my head. A sleepy yawn escapes my lips, as I rub my tired caramel-gray eyes.
My routinely afternoon nap was unfortunately cut short because someone decided it would be funny to spam me with unnecessary calls and texts. Conner, that dimwit.
Wrapping my arms around my freezing body, I shuffle towards the washroom to freshen up.
Changing into warm sweatpants and engulfing myself in my black over sized hoodie, I make my way down the stairs.
I grab a snack bar from the dining table and head towards the front door. I dip my freezing feet into my black converse as I shout, 'Mom, I'm going over to Katy's place.'
'Okay sweetie, please don't come back soon,' I hear her teasing response. I roll my eyes with a smile as I pull the door open.
The icy Minnesota breeze hits my body as I step outside. I hug my hoodie closer to my body as I bury my chilly hands into the cozy pockets of my clothing.
Katy's house was a few blocks away from mine. After avoiding several incidents of clumsily falling face first into the winter snow, I finally reach the brown wooden door with a light brown welcome sign.
My fingers push the bell button just as I hear numerous footsteps from the other side.
I'm welcomed with the beautiful sight of my friends.
Note the sarcasm.
Just as I wave my hand with a smile, a snowball lands directly on my face. I spit out the few particles of snow that escaped into my mouth and glare at Conner who gives me a triumphant smile in return.
Oh, you're on.
***
Conner blows his nose, with disgust evident in his features. We all laugh at his pathetic state.
The snowball fight had gotten a little extreme. Okay, that's an understatement. Conner ended up with particles of ice buried deep within his nose. He had been working on getting them out for the past three hours while we helped Katy search for her lost sock.
Turns out when she said it was lost, she wasn't kidding. We searched the entire house and still couldn't find it. We even checked inside her coffee maker, you know just in case.
'Conner, hurry up. We have to go,' Jake yells from the front door where we are currently waiting for Conner to clean his ice filled nose. Ew.
We were heading towards the entrance of the neighborhood, Rose Gardens, because Jake suggested it would be helpful to stick posters consisting of pictures of Katy's sock.
Jake decorated the enormous posters and sketched in bold letters,
'Lost sock. If found please return to villa number forty three, or call the following number' and then proceeded to add his number.
You might be wondering, why go so over board for just a sock?
Well for starters, this was us we were talking about.
Other than that, the sock was a gift from Katy's grandmother right before she passed away.
It was the first time I experienced losing someone I knew. Even though she wasn't my grandmother; I was emotionally attached to her, to the point I would sit near her chair for hours, talking to her about the most random things.
She was extremely friendly, always made all of us smile. If any of us would feel low, we always went to her. She cheered us up and comforted us with her warm; motherly hugs.
Her passing away was tragic. Even though we knew it was coming, her death was something that saddened all of us. I didn't come out of my house for over a week and spent hours crying.
Moving on from that was one of the most difficult things I had ever done, but my friends supported me through it all.
A loud tumble sounds through the room, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I watch the mess of posters on the floor under Lydia's pale feet. 'Oops,' she smiles sheepishly.
Conner scurries out of the washroom and slaps my back with his water-soaked hands, just as I bend to help Lydia pick her posters up. The force causes me to fall face first on the floor.
Again. Great.
I glare at Conner's red face, his eyes and nose screwing up to prevent him from bursting into fits of laughter.
And then he laughs.
I jump up and chase him, running outside Katy's warm apartment, into the chilly winter breeze.
'Conner, you ass. Come back here!'
'Awww, is smally holly angwy?' He teases, sticking his tongue out.
Child.
Conner's smile is wiped off his face as a huge snowball lands right on his smirking face.
And that's how the Third World War started.
***
After a lot of efforts and sacrifices, we manage to reach the front entrance of Rose Gardens.
Jake is waving the posters around like a hooligan, shouting something along the lines of 'help! Lost sock. If found please return.'
'I'm hungry,' Conner states out of the blue.
'I'm craving MNMs,' I agree.
'Ah, and the KFC chicken. Crispy, crunchy, smooth, juicy, mouth wateri-' Jake's rant was cut short by his twin sister, Lydia's, annoyed voice, 'Okay, okay we get it Jakey.'
'Followers, Admirers and peasant,' Conner lowers his voice as he says, 'the last part was only for you Holly,' I roll my eyes as he continues, 'listen up closely. Today, my people, you will be honored to know that you get the privilege of walking with me, Conner Price, to the esteemed premises that foreigners now call 'Walmart.'' He ends his dramatic speech with a bow.
'We shall now march in a festive procession to the required location,' his girlfriend, Cindy, adds.
Yes, they are dating. The legend of cornflakes and butterfingers, as they are commonly known, is very popular among teen fictions people bury their heads into.
My feet carries me behind Jake who is at the back of the line which my friends have formed. Dramatic much?
Conner is at the front. Raising his voice he orders, 'About turn.'
'But to get to Walmart we have to go straigh-' my argument is cut off by his disappointed voice.
'Smally holly,' he starts, shaking his head, 'always the impatient one. I was going to say about turn once again,' he says in a isn't-that-obvious tone.
After an episode of dramatic stamping of feet and bowing, as per Conner's orders, we finally manage to reach Walmart.
I stack my shopping basket with fifteen packets of MNMs, twenty packets of chips, ten bars of Lindt milk chocolate and a box of cereal.
Here's the thing about me, no matter how much I eat, I never gain fat. It makes me oddly satisfied and gives me a reason to stuff my belly with unnecessarily high amounts of food.
My friends are right behind me, filling their own baskets with high doses of Calories.
Katy and Lydia admire the collection of toilet paper on display, while Jake and Conner grab all the baby wipes available in their field of vision.
Distracted, I clumsily drop my shopping basket onto the floor. Just as I bend down to pick it up, my eyes lock on a pair of orange-yellow socks that look eerily familiar to those belonging to Katy, engulfing a huge pair of feet.
My eyes scan the owner of the socks as realization dawns on me. This jerk stole my best friend's sock!
He stands in front of me, wearing a tight black shirt matched with blue jeans. The shirt highlights the muscles on his back as he leans down to pick a box of what looks like flour, from the shelf.
His chocolate brown hair contrasts with his oceanic blue eyes. His accentuated cheekbones and sharp jaw makes him look beautiful to an extent that is humanly not possible. His full lips turn into a frown as he inspects the box of flour. A dejected sigh escapes his lips as he places the box of flour back into its original place.
Before I could lose him, I walk towards Katy, grabbing her arms roughly and pulling her along with me to face the criminal.
I cross my arms over my chest, attempting to appear intimidating, finally catching his attention.
"Did you just steal Katy's sock!?" I exclaim loud enough for curious eyes to turn towards the unusual event.
The strangers blue orbs wander next to me and trail down Katy's figure.
Is he checking her out!?
Before I could announce to the world the perverts indecent tactics, his amused voice questions, "Oh, you mean the one she's wearing?"
Katy looks down just as numerous pairs of eyes turn towards Katy's feet where an orange-yellow sock warmly lay wrapped around it.
