The Journey of Two

Nikki sighed as she ran her hand through her short hair and turned to Rex and Cody,

"So...this is the end, right?"

Rex sighed and put a hand on her shoulder,

"Kid, no matter what, Cody and I are proud of you,"

Cody smirked and nudged her gently,

"You came a long way from that small girl that flew into Rex all those years ago,"

Nikki laughed and Rex sighed,

"I still can't believe both times you crashed into me,"

Nikki smiled and hugged him,

"Hey, maybe the third time will be different,"

Cody frowned,

"You really are looking again?"

Nikki nodded,

"Yeah...Cal said that he was going to help me look now...so I could finally get some peace,"

Rex nodded,

"After everything you have been through, you deserve it,"

Nikki sighed,

"Do I? I failed so many-"

Cody shook his head,

"No, you didn't. You tried your best, Victory. You kept Fives alive and in hiding while you tried searching for answers, all in secret. Fives has told all of us this story many times,"

Nikki sighed and nodded,

"Maybe in another life, we fixed it before it was too late,"

Rex hugged her and ruffled her hair,

"Just take care of yourself. There has always been a reason we called you Victory,"

Nikki chuckled and hugged him back,

"I'll see you guys again,"

Cody smirked,

"We sure hope so,"

She turned and walked over to where Cal and BD-1 were waiting for her,

"You sure you want to leave?"

Cal sighed and nodded,

"I need to...I think this would be good for both of us...maybe some closure,"

Nikki frowned and grabbed his gloved hand softly,

"Whenever you want to talk about her...let me know,"

Cal slowly nodded and looked away. Merrin was killed the day before in an attack of the old rebel base by a Sith. Ezra, Astor, and Cal have been ridden with guilt ever since, and Nikki finally just convinced them they had nothing to feel guilty about.

"Come on then, let's start flying,"

Cal smiled, and BD-1 immediately made some noises in content as they boarded the old X-wing that was once used in the Clone Wars. Bail Organa decided it was a good ship to start the two on as they hunted for a way to get Nikki back to Earth and hunt down the remaining Inquisitors. Nikki sat in the pilot seat while Cal huffed and sat next to her in the co-pilot seat,

"You know, I look older than you, so it would be more convincing that I fly-"

"I'm a better pilot,"

"No, you are not!"

"You barely flew in the Clone Wars. I flew all the time next to my brothers and Master Kenobi,"

Cal sighed,

"Whatever, Sora,"

Nikki laughed and smirked at him,

"Okay, Axel,"

Cal winced,

"I still don't understand why you think that name fits me,"

Nikki shrugged,

"I like the sound of it,"

"But I don't,"

"Good thing you don't have a say,"

Cal rolled his eyes,

"Whatever, just get us in lightspeed,"

Nikki smirked and saluted at him,

"Eye eye, captain!"

Cal chuckled and rolled his eyes at her. They jumped into lightspeed, and BD-1 immediately climbed onto Nikki's head,

"Where are we going?"

Nikki shrugged,

"I just plotted a random destination,"

Cal sighed,

"I did not miss that at all,"

Nikki slapped his arm,

"Shut up, you missed this. Us traveling by ourselves,"

Cal sighed,

"I miss our crew,"

Nikki looked down in guilt and sighed,

"Astor is on missions with Hera...Cere is helping fugitives still...she didn't want to join the rebellion...and you know G liked his cantina,"

Cal looked down and nodded,

"Merrin was going to go back to help Cere...but I asked her to help...It's my fault,"

Nikki immediately shook her head,

"No, it's not! Cal, listen to me. I know you love Merrin, but it is not your fault that she was killed! She sacrificed herself to get all of us out of there...and we have to continue fighting for her...we can't change the past,"

Cal sighed and rubbed his face,

"I wish we could change the past...I wish that we could have won the war,"

Nikki brought her hand to his and squeezed it,

"I wish we could have changed it too,"

Then they noticed something weird. The normal blue of hyperspace changed to green,

"Uh,"

"Nikki?"

"Yeah?"

"Is that green?"

"Yes?"

They screamed as they were suddenly thrown out of hyperspace and into the sky of a planet. Nikki immediately grabbed the controls and yelped,

"HOLD ON!"

Cal immediately grabbed BD-1 and gasped as he saw something he thought he was done seeing. Battle droids. Thousands of them in a small ravine,

"Holy shit,"

Nikki nodded,

"Holy shit indeed,"

She winced as an alarm went off throughout the small ship and looked at the controls,

"Okay, we need to get out,"

"What do you mean get out?!"

Nikki looked at Cal and looked at the droids that hadn't noticed them getting closer and closer,

"Well, hate to break it to you, but our engine is busted, and we are closing in a little too fast to the ground,"

Cal winced and nodded as he noticed four tanks,

"Okay, we jump out and aim the ship for the tanks!"

Nikki nodded and unbuckled her seat,

"Sounds like a plan, ready, Ax?"

"We have very different definitions of ready, Sora,"

"I know,"

Nikki winked at him and immediately tied a strip of her robe to the controls to keep them locked,

"BD open our hatch, please,"

BD-1 nodded, and immediately, the hatch popped open. Cal grabbed Nikki's hand,

"Together?"

"Always,"

They immediately used the force, jumped out of the ship, and landed right ahead of the battalion droids, who immediately pointed their blasters at them. Nikki smirked as they saw the ship crash into the tanks. The Battle Droids immediately aimed their blasters at the two,

"Where did you come from?"

Nikki glanced at Cal and nodded at him. He smirked and nodded back. Nikki stepped forward with her hands in a mock surrender,

"We are simply making our way through; what can I do for you, soldiers?"

The battle droids looked at each other in confusion, and one of them slapped the other,

"We are putting you under arrest. We can use them as leverage while the republic comes,"

Nikki immediately frowned in confusion and sensed that Cal was equally as confused. BD-1 immediately beeped,

"I will find back-up, can I?"

Cal nodded, and BD-1 ran away without the Battle Droids noticing. Nikki nodded at the Battle Droids and shrugged,

"I mean, you can use us as leverage, but you will be waiting a fucking long time,"

The B1 crossed his arms,

"We received word that they are almost here."

Nikki glanced at Cal one more time before moving her hand to signal. Cal smirked and walked up to be next to her, and he also raised his hands,

"Well, don't worry, boys, they won't find anything,"

"What do you mean?"

Nikki and Cal immediately slammed their hands down, and with that came the first line of defense of the droid army. Cal immediately ignited his double-sided lightsaber, and Nikki ignited both of her lightsabers as they immediately started getting shot at,

"JEDI!!!!"

Nikki laughed and glanced at Cal,

"Just like old times?"

Cal smirked,

"We have different memories of the Clone Wars,"

"Well, we did fight in different legions,"

"And under different masters,"

"But we did have those fun missions,"

"We almost got blown up every single mission!"

"That was always the fun part!"

They easily fought off the droids, cutting them in half as they switched forms. Cal then decided to fight with two sabers instead so he could move quicker,

"Hey! How many do you have?"

"Sixty-seven!"

"I have seventy!"

"I'll catch up!"

"Sure, Axel,"

Nikki quickly noticed that they were fighting on different ends of the small ravine and smirked as she saw that there were around forty droids between them,

"Hey! Let's do some Frisbee!"

Cal laughed and smirked,

"I'm always down for a good game of Frisbee,"

That caused some of the B1 to stop shooting out of pure confusion,

"Frisbee?"

Nikki immediately threw one of her lightsabers at the same time as Cal did, and the two effortlessly pulled the other's to them, splitting all forty of the droids in half. Nikki cackled as she caught the familiar blue lightsaber,

"Oh, that never gets old,"

Cal laughed as he raised her purple one to deflect a blast,

"Never will, Sora,"

They stood side by side once more as they deflected and slashed. Nikki glanced at Cal for a brief second,

"Blast?"

Cal nodded,

"I got one,"

She started deflecting more as Cal pulled out a blaster from his holster and started blasting at the droids. Then the Droidekas came, and Nikki winced,

"Oh, I fucking hate those,"

Cal nodded,

"I don't have any EMP bombs,"

"Neither do I,"

Cal sighed,

"Alright, maybe we can push them into the wall,"

Nikki nodded,

"We can, and we will, on my mark,"

"Okay,"

Cal pocketed his blaster again and held up his lightsabers to deflect as he stood next to Nikki again. Nikki glared at the Droidekas as they took a second to reload,

"NOW!"

They both raised their hands, channeling the Force. Rocks and debris from the surrounding area began to levitate, swirling around them like a storm. With a swift motion, they sent the debris flying toward the incoming droids, smashing into them with crushing force. Cal and Nikki dashed forward, their lightsabers a blur of light as they cut down droids with precise, fluid movements. They leaped and spun, using the Force to enhance their agility, dodging blaster fire and countering with devastating strikes. As they fought, Nikki used the Force to lift several droids into the air, crushing them with an invisible grip before hurling them into their comrades. Cal followed suit, sending a powerful wave of energy that knocked dozens of droids off their feet and crashed them into the walls of the ravine. Despite their efforts, the droids kept coming, their numbers seemingly endless. Nikki and Cal found themselves back-to-back, surrounded by a sea of metallic soldiers. Cal glanced at Nikki,

"Got any more tricks up your sleeve?"

Nikki smirked,

"Always."

Nikki reached out with both hands, manipulating the air around them. A powerful gust of wind swept through the ravine, knocking droids off balance and sending them tumbling. She followed up with a series of Force pushes, sending droids flying into each other. The battle raged on, and despite their fatigue, Nikki and Cal fought relentlessly. They moved in perfect harmony, their lightsabers slicing through droids with precision. They used the Force to pull droids into their blades, to shield each other from blaster fire, and to create barriers of energy that deflected attacks. Cal leaped high into the air, spinning as he came down, his lightsabers whirling in a deadly dance. He sliced through a line of droids, his movements fluid and precise. Landing in a crouch, he immediately rolled forward, dodging blaster fire and coming up with a powerful upward slash that bisected another droid. Nikki, meanwhile, executed a series of acrobatic flips and spins, her dual-wielding lightsabers flashing as she cut down droids with graceful, deadly efficiency. She kicked off a wall, using the momentum to somersault over a group of droids, slicing through them mid-air before landing in a crouch and spinning around to deflect incoming blaster bolts. At one point, Nikki spotted a group of B2 super battle droids advancing on their position. She gestured to Cal, and together they concentrated their efforts. They lifted the heavy droids into the air, smashing them together with bone-crushing force before sending them crashing to the ground.

As the battle intensified, Cal and Nikki fought with fierce determination, their lightsabers a blur of motion as they defended against the relentless onslaught of battle droids. Despite their exhaustion, their connection through the Force allowed them to anticipate each other's movements, covering for one another seamlessly. Nikki's lightsabers danced through the air, parrying blaster bolts and cutting through droids with precision. She pivoted and spun, her movements fluid and agile, deflecting blasts and slashing through droid ranks with calculated strikes. Cal moved with swift efficiency, alternating between offense and defense. His strikes were powerful and precise, slicing through droid armor and disabling them with well-placed blows. As they fought, Cal noticed a squad of BX-series droid commandos advancing from the flank. Without hesitation, he shouted to Nikki,

"Cover me!"

Then he charged towards the commandos. Nikki nodded, deflecting incoming fire as Cal sprinted across the battlefield. He leaped over a cluster of battle droids, somersaulted in mid-air, and landed amidst the commandos with a forceful downward strike that cut through their ranks.

Meanwhile, Nikki focused her attention on the remaining droids, using the Force to enhance her speed and agility. She leaped high into the air, flipping over a group of B1 battle droids and landing behind them in a crouch. With a swift motion, she spun around, her lightsabers slashing through the droids in a deadly arc. Cal, now surrounded by commandos, unleashed a whirlwind of strikes, his blue lightsabers deflecting blaster bolts and carving through droid armor. He used the Force to enhance his strength, delivering powerful blows that shattered droid bodies and sent them flying. With each strike, he pushed himself to the limit, driven by a combination of grief and determination. Back-to-back, Cal and Nikki fought on, their lightsabers weaving a tapestry of destruction amidst the droid ranks. They moved with a synchronicity born of years of training together, anticipating each other's movements and covering for one another's vulnerabilities.

Nikki's body jerked as the blaster bolt struck her in the torso, knocking her back with a cry of pain. Cal's heart clenched in fear as he saw her fall, his mind racing with a mix of anger and determination. In that moment, a surge of raw emotion surged through him, amplified by the Force.

"NO!!!! SORA!"

Cal's voice thundered through the ravine, carrying with it an overwhelming wave of power. The ground trembled beneath him as he unleashed a fierce Force blast, sending shockwaves rippling through the air and knocking droids off their feet. The sheer force of his scream echoed in every direction, momentarily stunning even the Battle Droids.

Amidst the chaos, Cal's focus narrowed to Nikki's fallen form. He deflected incoming blaster fire, creating a protective barrier around her. He stood as a protective barrier over her,

"Sora, you need to get up, please get up,"

He heard a groan from under him but knew she wasn't strong enough to get up. Cal felt the familiar panic start to bottle up,

"BD!!!! WHERE ARE YOU!"

He felt a shift in the force and felt old presences around him. He frowned in confusion before hearing a cry,

"Get the rest of those clankers!"

He glanced to the side, and what he saw made his heart stop. Clones in blue ran down into the ravine, shooting at the remaining droids. Cal shook his head and kept deflecting the blaster shots as kept his eyes open in case he was shot at by the clones. He recognized the armor from the 501st Battalion. Maybe Rex had trained some people undercover the past week that he wasn't made aware of. Cal sighed as the last droid was taken down, and he immediately looked at Nikki in concern as he heard the familiar chirp of his droid companion,

"Bd! Where have you been? I need a capsule right away,"

BD-1 produced a health capsule, and Cal immediately jabbed the shot into Nikki's torso close to where the shot was. He felt movement in front of him and immediately looked up and lifted his lightsaber at the person in front of him,

"I would stay back if you know what's good for you,"

The person raised his hands in surrender,

"Sir, do you need help? We have a medic with us,"

Cal immediately shook his head,

"I don't need help."

Another trooper walked up to him with his arms crossed,

"No offense, General, but we saw some of that fight. She got a blast to the torso, and our medic will need to check her over,"

Cal frowned at the rank and shook his head,

"I'm not a General,"

"Oh, sorry, Commander, but you seemed old enough to be a Jedi Knight,"

The other clone slapped his shoulder,

"Hardcase, be quiet,"

Cal frowned and looked at BD-1,

"Did my droid lead you here?"

The two nodded,

"Yes, sir. He was very adamant that we followed him. General Skywalker will be here shortly, so you can speak to him. We were not aware that other Jedi were assigned this mission,"

Cal immediately froze at the name and looked at the clone closely,

"Did you just say General Skywalker...Anakin Skywalker?"

The clone nodded and finally took off his helmet, revealing a familiar blonde-haired captain,

"Yes, sir. General Anakin Skywalker of the 501st. My name is Captain Rex. Who are you?"

Cal shook his head, glanced at BD-1, and then looked at Rex,

"My name is Axel. We ran into the Battle Droids when our ship started malfunctioning,"

Hardcase crossed his arms again,

"Were you assigned to Anaxes?"

Cal glanced around and realized why the planet looked familiar,

"No...we left our planet, and our ship broke down,"

Rex furrowed his eyebrows in confusion,

"Your planet?"

Cal nodded and slowly picked up Nikki,

"Can we discuss this later? After we board your ship and I can wrap her wound,"

Rex nodded,

"I will get our me-"

"No. You misunderstood me, Captain. I will be looking over her wounds such as I have been her entire life. No one else is to do so."

Rex shared a confused look with Hardcase, but he shrugged. Rex looked back at Cal with the unconscious girl in his arms and nodded,

"Alright,"

Then footsteps were heard, and they turned to see Anakin Skywalker walking over to them,

"Rex, great job at taking out the fleet without me...Who is this?"

Cal looked at him, and BD-1 nudged his leg,

"My name is Axel,"

Captain Rex pointed at the two,

"These two took out most of the Batallion. She got shot, and we were just about to go back to the ship,"

Anakin furrowed his eyebrows in confusion when he noticed the force shift around the two,

"I have never seen you two before, and I was not informed by the council that they were sending more Jedi,"

Cal sighed and shook his head,

"Look. I need to take care of my friend here. So can we talk after I get her healed?"

Anakin nodded and gestured for them to start walking,

"I will get our medic, Kix, to look her over while we talk,"

Cal shook his head,

"No. I will be looking over her wounds,"

Anakin frowned in confusion and glanced at him,

"Are you a healer?"

Cal shrugged,

"I can be,"

Anakin slowly nodded,

"Alright, I will report to the council-"

"Can you do that after we talk?"

Anakin sighed and nodded,

"Fine,"

Cal quickly sped up, and Kix noticed him and walked over to him to look over Nikki,

"H-"

"I do not need a medic. I just need some wrap and a Bacta spray."

Kix narrowed his eyes,

"I outrank everyone when it comes to medical needs, and I will-"

"Respectfully. I don't give a flying loth cat what you say. I am not ranked, and I will be taking care of my friend. So either you give me the supplies, or I find them myself,"

Kix slowly gave him the supplies, and Cal walked into a room before locking it and setting Nikki down. Kix stared at the closed door as Rex walked up to him,

"Hey Kix, did you see the new Jedi?"

Kix crossed his arms,

"He took the wrap and Bacta patch and stormed into that room,"

Rex's eyes widened in surprise,

"Really?"

Kix nodded,

"Yes,"
