Miscommunication
Nikki stepped out of the ship and waved the boys off as they immediately flew off to the Barracks. They insisted on making sure she got inside the Senate building before departing. Nikki walked in and walked to the Chancellors Office. She walked in after knocking and Palpatine smiled at her,
"Ah, Master Sora, did you find him?"
Nikki shook her head,
"Unfortunately, I did not find Darth Maul. The Nightsisters do not seem to know where he is either. They got defensive when I asked."
Palpatine frowned and stepped closer to her and put his hand on her shoulder,
"Oh dear me, are you alright Master Sora? Were you injured?"
Nikki shook her head,
"I am quite alright, Chancellor, my squad and I got off of Dathomir right on time before we engaged them for far too long. If you have any further leads, I would be happy to help,"
Palpatine's eyes shown with something that Nikki could not decipher in her tired state,
"I will, Master Sora. Please go rest, thank you again for helping me with this small search,"
Nikki nodded and bowed,
"Goodnight, Chancellor Palpatine,"
She left and winced as her head started pounding,
"Fucking hell, stupid migraines,"
Cal was walking with Rex and Jesse discussing another mission when he suddenly got very dizzy. He groaned and brought his gloved hand to his forehead as Rex quickly steadied him,
"Woah, General, are you okay?"
Cal slowly nodded as he winced,
"Yeah...I don't know what happened,"
Jesse frowned,
"When was the last time you slept?"
Cal shrugged,
"I don't really keep track,"
Rex sighed,
"Are all Jedi this stubborn?!"
Jesse chuckled,
"No, I think we just have a habit of picking up the bad ones,"
Cal rolled his eyes,
"Don't be so dramatic-"
He groaned as another wave of pain crashed over him and Rex frowned,
"Sir, we need to get you to Kix,"
Cal shook his head in confusion,
"No. Something is off,"
Jesse rolled his eyes,
"That's because you aren't feeling well. You are not invincible,"
Cal shook his head and stood straighter again as he looked down the hall,
"No. That's not it. Something feels off. I don't feel dizzy right now, I feel fine,"
Rex sighed,
"We-"
Cal's eyes widened as he connected the dots,
"Sora."
Cal immediately took off sprinting down the halls as he heard a yell and footsteps running after him. He ignored all of that as he ran and followed the force as it guided him to the source of his pain. He ran until he saw Sora leaning against the Barrack's wall,
"Sora!!!!"
Nikki glanced over at him with a small, tired, smile,
"Hey, Ax....what's up?"
Cal ignored the question and immediately grabbed her shoulders to steady her,
"What happened? Where were you? Why the fuck didn't you comm me when you started feeling sick?"
Nikki slowly blinked,
"Uh...I just came back...from a mission...I might be losing it a lil bit cuz you are with Master Plo...did we get a new trick?"
Cal shook his head in disbelief,
"What? What mission? Why would I be with Master Plo?"
Rex and Jesse finally caught up to the two and immediately felt their heart drop when they saw the state of Nikki, her eyes were dull and unfocused and she looked exhausted. Nikki shrugged and smiled at Rex and Jesse,
"Heyyyyyyyyyy...Rex and Jesse...do you see Ax too?"
Rex slowly nodded,
"Yeah, we do,"
Nikki nodded,
"Cool."
Cal caught Nikki as she fainted, his concern evident as he carefully lowered her to the ground. Rex and Jesse rushed forward, concern etched on their faces as they knelt beside them. BD-1 came running over to them and beeped frantically,
"BD you know I can't understand you when you talk that fast,"
BD-1 lowered his head,
"I heard a crash. Is Nikki alright?"
"I don't know what happened. Did you know she was sent on a mission?"
Rex immediately looked at him in shock,
"A mission?!"
Cal nodded,
"Yeah, she told me before she saw you guys,"
Jesse shook his head,
"That doesn't sound right, we are on a break,"
Rex nodded,
"Yeah, and if she was sent on a mission, she would have taken some of us with her as she is the co-general of the 501st."
Cal groaned as pain erupted through him again. Jesse frowned and put a hand on his shoulder,
"Hey, you okay?"
Cal winced and sighed,
"I...I need you two to listen to me...we need to get to Kix now...tell Kix to give her a full workup to figure out...figure out what happened...and...get Master Yoda...only those two can...can work on us,"
Cal fainted and BD-1 went frantic as his two masters were unconscious. Rex immediately stepped up and picked up Cal,
"BD-1, get Master Yoda. Jesse, we need to take Axel and Sora to Kix now."
Jesse immediately picked up Nikki and nodded,
"Let's go,"
As they entered the medbay, Kix was already waiting, having been informed by the frantic commotion echoing through the halls. He immediately directed them to nearby beds, where they gently laid Nikki and Cal down. Kix brought his hands to his face and rubbed his eyes,
"One night of peace is all I ask. Okay, I need you two to wait until I get them hooked up to a heart monitor, then I need you two to move General Axel to a different room so I can work on General Sora in peace,"
The two nodded and Kix immediately got to work on setting the two up on heart monitors,
"Alright, move Axel,"
Rex got on one side of the bed while Jesse grabbed the heart monitor. They started moving him, but as soon as they got ten feet away, the monitors stopped making sounds, and Kix screamed for them to get back. The three clones panicked when they realized that Cal and Nikki's hearts stopped. Kix ran over to them and helped them bring Cal back closer to Nikki. When he was, their hearts started beating again. Kix's eyes widened in surprise,
"What the kriff?"
They heard commotion from outside and Master Yoda came inside with a concerned expression on his face,
"Know what happened, do you?"
Kix shook his head,
"General Yoda, as soon as we tried getting them apart, their hearts stopped. I have never seen anything like it,"
Yoda sighed and nodded,
"Strong they are, in the force. A connection they have that is deeper than most. An accident has happened, indeed. Find the cause, we must,"
Kix sighed,
"Rex and Jesse, can you two start looking for any clues?"
Rex nodded,
"We will go talk to the Bad Batch, maybe they know where Sora was,"
The two left and Yoda sat on a chair as he watched the two Jedi,
"Do your exams, you must,"
Kix sighed,
"As a Medic, I have to respect my patients' rights to privacy, I do not see anything physically wrong with Sora, so I wish to respect that she does not want me to see anything more than anyone else,"
Yoda chuckled,
"Loyal, you are. Good trait it is for a Medic. Trust in you, Sora has. Look over her, you must,"
Kix sighed and nodded. He slowly got her robe off of her and stopped when he spotted something painfully familiar to him. Her scars. Yet, they looked older now. But there was no denying the recognition of the word etched into her skin: Useless. He immediately wrapped her scars back up and attached some patches to help him keep track of her vitals. He glanced at Master Yoda who looked at him expectantly,
"You knew?"
Yoda slowly nodded,
"Knew from the moment I saw them, I did. From the future, they are,"
Kix's eyes widened,
"Time travel?"
Yoda nodded,
"Only two know. me and you. Secret it must be kept,"
Rex and Jesse were almost to the Bad Batches's quarters when they ran into Anakin. The two saluted at him,
"General,"
Anakin smiled at the two,
"Rex, Jesse,"
Rex glanced around,
"What brings you here, General Skywalker?"
Anakin sighed,
"I'm looking for Sora, have you seen her? I assumed she was around here somewhere,"
The two frowned in confusion. Jesse crossed his arms,
"Sora is in the Medical Bay being treated by Kix-"
Anakin's eyes widened in shock,
"What? What happened?"
Rex sighed,
"That is what we are investigating, why are you looking for her?"
Anakin rubbed his eyes,
"I just got a call from Chancellor Palpatine. He told me he was concerned about Sora because she was supposed to report back to him about something and she never showed up,"
Jesse frowned,
"Really?"
Anakin nodded,
"Yeah,"
Rex slowly nodded,
"We were under the impression that she spoke to the Chancellor."
Anakin frowned in confusion,
"Really? Okay let's get to the bottom of this right now,"
The three entered the room and Hunter glanced over at them first as he sighed,
"You three need to be more quiet before entering a room of someone you will be interrogating,"
Tech crossed his arms,
"What are the questions?"
Rex sighed,
"Look, I'm sorry. What mission did you just go on with General Sora,"
Echo stood up and walked closer to them,
"We were sent to Dathomir-"
Anakin crossed his arms,
"Why?"
Crosshair rolled his eyes,
"Because. The Chancellor told Sora that he was given information that Darth Maul was hiding there. So, we went with Sora to check the place out-"
Wrecker grumbled,
"She did not allow us to get off the ship with her,"
Hunter nodded,
"She went on her own to ask the Nightsisters about Darth Maul and she ran back to the ship while they attacked her. Echo and I got her on the ship,"
Anakin frowned,
"Did anything hit her?"
Hunter shook his head,
"No. Something green flew right over us when I tackled her out of the way,"
Jesse glared at him,
"Why did you not immediately take her to a healer? She could have been injured! She kriffing is!"
Tech shook his head,
"She was not when we dropped her off at the Senate Building. I ran my own scan over her to make sure of it,"
Anakin's eyes widened,
"You left her at the Senate building?"
Crosshair scowled,
"Of course we did. She refused to be taken back to the temple because she was very set on debriefing the Chancellor,"
Rex turned to Anakin,
"Sir...did you not just say that the Chancellor asked you to find her because she never showed up for the debriefing?"
Anakin slowly nodded as horror struck him,
"Yeah."
Jesse crossed his arms,
"Something must have happened while she was going to see the Chancellor,"
Echo immediately shook his head,
"No. We left after she walked into the building."
Rex sighed,
"Okay. Let's go check on her then we will head to the Senate Building to talk to Fox,"
Anakin nodded before frowning,
"Wait. Where is Axel? Those two are joined at the hip if they are in the same area,"
Rex winced,
"He fainted shortly after Sora did-"
"WHAT?!"
Rex, Jesse, and Anakin flinched as they watched the small squad immediately run out of the room to find their two unconscious generals. Anakin sighed,
"Maybe lead with that next time,"
Rex rubbed his eyes,
"Yeah...but that also never added up,"
"What didn't?"
Jesse nodded,
"Sora said that she thought that Axel was out on a mission. But why would she?"
Anakin sighed,
"Alright. We need answers now."
They nodded and left the room to chase after the squad.
