Manda'lor
Nikki and Cal stood in front of the starfighter that Astor was keeping for his journey to Mandalor. Astor walked over to them,
"Why are you both still here?"
Nikki looked at him,
"Are you sure you want to do this? You don't know what it's like,"
Astor put his hand on her shoulder,
"Mama, I am positive. I need to do this,"
Cal crossed his arms,
"Why?"
Astor smirked at them,
"The same reason why I was given to Nikki as a toddler,"
Nikki's eyes widened,
"You found out?"
Astor chuckled,
"After you and Cal disappeared, I went my own way for a few weeks to sort out my feelings. Then Sabine asked me to come to Mandalor with her and the Ghost crew to help her family. They saw my helmet and recognized it to be the one they gave you. Lady Wren immediately knew who I was after connecting the dots and told me everything. Why didn't you tell me my birth mother is Satine Kryze?"
Nikki looked down at the floor and sighed,
"I wanted to protect you,"
Astor smiled and hugged her,
"You did, mama, you raised me right and I want to make you and dad proud,"
Cal smiled and put his hand on Astor's shoulder,
"We are proud of you, son...we will always be proud of you,"
Astor smiled as he let go of Nikki,
"Now, I want to make my ancestors proud. It is time I claimed what is rightfully mine,"
Nikki frowned,
"Star, you can't take the thrown-"
Astor smirked,
"You told me that I was given the name of Astor by you. What is my birth name?"
Nikki sighed,
"Lliorr Kryze."
Astor shrugged,
"I like Astor more,"
Cal chuckled,
"Unbiased of course,"
Astor winked at him,
"Of course. Now to find my Aunt,"
Nikki sighed,
"No stopping you?"
Astor shook his head,
"I have to do this, for my people."
Cal smiled at him and hugged him,
"Call us every single day,"
Nikki shook her head and slapped Cal's shoulder,
"No. He has to call us every five hours,"
Astor rolled his eyes and spotted Captain Rex walking over to them,
"Sora, I will not be calling you every five hours,"
Rex laughed and smirked at Nikki,
"You have to let the kid go his own way,"
Nikki slapped Rex's shoulder,
"Hey! He's still a baby-"
"No I'm not!"
Nikki pointed her finger at him,
"Listen here you little-"
Cal raised his hand and put it on her shoulder,
"Sora, it's okay,"
Astor nodded and smiled at her,
"I will be fine, I will call every day since I have your comm number-"
"After I forced you to take it,"
Astor rolled his eyes and looked at Rex,
"Can you please give me a hand with this?"
Rex chuckled and patted Nikki's shoulder,
"General Sora, the toughest challenge you will face is letting a kid leave and go on their own path. But it is a path that they have to take themselves,"
Nikki sighed at the all too familiar phrase and glanced at Rex,
"Who told you that?"
Rex smiled softly at her,
"General Kenobi. She told me those exact words when I was getting my little sister ready for her first mission without Cody or myself."
Astor's eyes widened in surprise and looked at Nikki,
"Did it help?"
Rex chuckled and shrugged with a smirk on his face,
"It helped me after I told Wolffe to watch over her,"
Nikki's eyes widened in shock and Cal smirked and glanced at her as he opened up their bond,
"Nikki, you are letting your emotions show on your face again,"
Nikki immediately slapped Cal's arm,
"Shut up, Ax,"
Astor smirked and pulled the two into a hug,
"The suns will shine on us again,"
Nikki sighed and nodded,
"Until the end,"
Cal smiled and squeezed his shoulder,
"Until the end,"
Astor smiled brightly and saluted at Rex,
"Bye, ba'vodu!"
Rex's eyes widened in surprise as Astor jumped into the cockpit and sped off. Rex turned to Cal and Nikki who looked just as surprised,
"Did that kid just call me Uncle?"
Nikki blushed and shrugged,
"Yes?"
Rex slowly nodded,
"Why?"
Cal shrugged,
"No use dwelling, we aren't sure what he found when he left Attalon, we didn't really have time to talk about it,"
As Astor came out of hyper-space he took a moment to look over at his home planet, it still had scars from the battles that have raged on for centuries, yet it looked less worn than he was used to. He shook his head and navigated his starfighter to Concord Dawn, where he assumed his Aunt was. He landed and was immediately surrounded by Mandalorians with the emblem for Death Watch. He raised his hands in surrender and jumped down onto the surface,
"I come on a mission,"
"What kind of mission?"
Astor looked over at the Mandalorian that spoke,
"I must speak to Bo-Katan Kryze,"
He immediately had all of their blastors in his face and he sighed,
"This is getting a little old for me. Put your blastors down."
"How dare you give us orders-"
Astor took off his helmet and glared at the Mandalorian,
"I will not be spoken to with that tone. My name is Astor. I am a friend of House Kryze. Let me speak to Bo-Katan."
He felt her presence before he saw her. The crowd seperated as she walked through them,
"Who are you to summon me in such a way?"
Astor felt his heart lift at seeing his Aunt, younger, and bearing less burden. Astor put his helmet back on,
"I wish to speak to you in private. It is concerning your late sister,"
Bo-Katan crossed her arms,
"You will have to be more specific. I have a few sisters that have passed,"
"Satine Kryze,"
He felt her despair at hearing the name and he looked down,
"Please hear my case,"
Bo-Katan nodded,
"Alright. Come with me."
Astor immediately followed her and they walked into a tent and Bo-Katan sat down and nodded to the seat in front of her. Astor sat down and took off his helmet just as she did,
"Now. What is this about my sister?"
Astor looked at her,
"We both know that their is a rightful ruler out there. I think he is what, four? I don't really know. But-"
Bo-Katan immediately drew her blasters,
"How do you know about him?"
Astor stared at her,
"Llior Kryze is the son of Satine Kryze. Satine hides him away as she doesn't want anyone to know who the father is. The boy will never find out who his parents are until much much later in life-"
"What-"
"He will be raised by a Jedi Master, a Fett, a Jedi Knight, and a Nightsister. He was first raised by the Jedi Master before she takes him to the Fett for a short time. Then the Jedi Master will continue raising him until they run into the Jedi Knight and the two raise him until they meet the Nightsister. Those four people are the reason he survives everything and anything that is thrown to him. Then he goes searching for his roots, having only been told he was Mandalorian and left the armor by the person who gave him to the Jedi Master. He goes searching and a new friend tells him that the House of Wren helped create the armor for the son of Satine. That the boy is meant to be the Mandalor."
Bo-Katan stared at him for a long time and put a hand on his shoulder,
"You do look a lot like your mother, Llior,"
Astor chuckled and smiled at her,
"Yeah, I have been told,"
Bo-Katan stood up,
"How is this possible?"
Astor shrugged,
"I'm not exactly sure...but the two that raised me? They are around, too. They are on Coruscant right now. I told them to let me handle this...I was also told not to tell anyone that I am from the future...but I really wanted to meet you as your nephew,"
Bo-Katan smiled and pulled him into a short hug,
"I am glad you did, Llior Kryze. You are my Aliit. You are the Mandalor. You can help our people."
Astor smirked at her,
"That's why I'm here. I want to help save Mandalore. I want to tell you something,"
"What is it?"
"I don't know how long I'm here. But, when I am gone, I want you to lead our people, at least until Llior is of age. I know who should raise him in hiding, and you will too,"
Bo-Katan nodded,
"Alright, let's start planning how to get our planet back,"
"Is Maul on the planet?"
Bo-Katan sighed,
"I am not sure. But the Prime Minister is still in control. You need one thing before you can rally us,"
Astor sighed and nodded,
"The Dark Saber,"
"It is with Vizsla. You asked for me, so he should be close by to see what is going on,"
Astor smirked and stood up with his helmet in his hands,
"Well, are you ready to see what the youngest Kryze can do?"
Bo-Katan smirked,
"Yes, I look forward to it."
Astor put his helmet back on and grabbed his Beskar Batons,
"Are those Beskar Batons?"
Astor nodded,
"Yep, a gift from my family,"
Bo-Katan smiled,
"I'm glad you found one,"
Astor nodded,
"Me too,"
They left and were greeted immediately by Vizsla with all of Death Watch behind him,
"Who is your new friend?"
Astor raised a baton to him,
"My name is Astor Kryze. I am challenging you for the Dark Saber."
Vizsla smirked,
"Oh, really? A kid like you? Okay, I'll play game, adika."
Vizsla motioned for his warriors to stand down and stepped forward, a smug expression on his face.
"I hope you know what you're getting into, boy,"
Vizsla drew the Darksaber, its black blade humming with power.
Astor's grip tightened on his beskar batons, his eyes focused and determined,
"I know exactly what I'm getting into," he replied.
Bo-Katan stepped back, giving them space. The crowd of Mandalorians watched with anticipation, some whispering among themselves.
Vizsla swung the Darksaber in a wide arc, testing Astor's reflexes. Astor parried with his baton, the impact reverberating through his arm. Vizsla's attacks were powerful, but Astor's speed and agility allowed him to dodge and counter with precise strikes.
As the duel intensified, Astor's training under Nikki, Cal, and the others became evident. His movements were a blend of Mandalorian combat and Jedi techniques, creating a unique fighting style that kept Vizsla on the defensive.
The duel intensified, their weapons clashing with a blinding speed. Astor's agility and training allowed him to keep up with Vizsla's brute strength. He dodged a vicious strike aimed at his head, countering with a swift kick to Vizsla's chest, sending him stumbling back.
"You've already lost,"
Astor smirked under his helmet trying once more to appeal to Vizsla's sense of reason.
"Yield, and we can unite our people."
Vizsla feigned a retreat, then lunged forward with a surprise attack. Astor anticipated the move, deflecting the strike and following up with a spinning strike from his batons that knocked Vizsla off balance.
Vizsla recovered quickly, his eyes burning with fury.
"You think you can best me? I've faced far greater opponents than you."
Astor met his gaze, determination shining in his eyes.
"This isn't about who's stronger. It's about what's right for Mandalore."
Vizsla's expression twisted with rage. He attacked with renewed ferocity, his strikes wild and powerful. Astor struggled to keep up, his batons barely managing to block each blow. Vizsla's attacks grew more erratic, and Astor realized that his opponent's anger was making him reckless.
Seeing an opening, Astor sidestepped a particularly aggressive strike and delivered a swift elbow to Vizsla's ribs, followed by a knee to his abdomen. Vizsla gasped for breath, but refused to back down. He swung the Darksaber in a desperate arc, but Astor ducked beneath it, sweeping Vizsla's legs out from under him.
Vizsla hit the ground hard, the Darksaber slipping from his grasp. Astor stood over him, his chest heaving with exertion.
"Yield, Vizsla. It's over."
Vizsla's eyes blazed with defiance. Instead of surrendering, he reached for a hidden blade. Astor acted on instinct, his training taking over. He struck with one baton, breaking Vizsla's wrist, and followed through with the other, delivering a final, decisive blow to his chest.
Vizsla collapsed, his breath ragged. Astor stood over him, the Darksaber now in his hand. The crowd fell silent, watching with a mixture of shock and awe.
Bo-Katan approached, her expression somber. She placed a hand on Astor's shoulder.
"You did what you had to. Vizsla gave you no choice."
Astor nodded, his eyes filled with resolve.
"I will honor his memory by leading with the strength and integrity Mandalore needs."
Bo-Katan turned to the assembled Mandalorians, raising her voice. "Astor Kryze has proven himself in combat and in spirit. He is the rightful bearer of the Darksaber and the true leader of Mandalore!"
The crowd erupted in a mixture of cheers and murmurs. The Mandalorians began to kneel, one by one, acknowledging Astor's leadership.
Astor picked up the Darksaber, feeling its weight and significance. He raised it high, the black blade casting a powerful glow.
"For Mandalore!"
His voice carried over the crowd.
The Mandalorians echoed his cry,
"For Mandalore!"
Bo-Katan smiled proudly at her nephew.
"This is just the beginning, Llior. We have a long road ahead, but I believe in you."
Astor nodded, his grip firm on the Darksaber.
"We will rebuild Mandalore, and we will do it together. For our people. For our future."
As they began to strategize their next steps, Astor knew that the challenges ahead would be great. But with the support of his allies and the strength of his heritage, he was ready to lead Mandalore into a new era of hope and unity.
