7. Let There Be Light

There is a therapist in this chapter and if I get something with that wrong, please tell me.

Fae opened the door to the immaculate living room in a huff, searching around for someone-just any sign of life. Despite calling it a living room, it's more of a library with many tall, imposing, white bookshelves.

"Hello?" Fae called out as she walked around.
"Hello Miss Agreste." Fae jumped to find a woman wearing a suit with auburn-golden hair in a bun, green eyes and some freckles on her nose behind a desk.

"Oh... uh...hi." The therapist smiled at her, coming closer to Fae.
"I'm Dr. Hope. I apologize. I did not mean to scare you! Your mother sent me to help you with-"
"My anger issues? Yes, I know." Fae replied curtly.
"Ah, you know. Well that makes my job easier. Please sit down and we can get started." Dr. Hope said, gesturing to a chair in front of the white, modern looking desk. Fae stares at the swiveling, white office chair hesitantly before reluctantly sitting down.

The sooner I agree to do this, the sooner I can get out of here, she thinks.

"So, Fae. Tell me about yourself?" Fae found it ridiculous to talk about herself when all of Paris knew her (in more ways than one) but she decided to oblige.

"My name is Fae Emilie Agreste. I am the daughter of Adrien and Marinette Agreste-my mother is a fashion designer and I work as a fashion model under the same agency as my father. I am 24 years old and I live with my... boyfriend... Enzo." Dr. Hope stops taking notes and looks up at Fae, amused.

"Does the media twist it that way?"
"No. I made it twist that way. For the sake of my reputation and the fact that the paparazzi wouldn't stop asking!" Fae rants. Dr. Hope hums thoughtfully and Fae looks up at her.
"Will this be shared with anyone?"
"No-of course not. Nothing that you say to me or in therapy leaves this room." Fae lets out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you."
"Of course." Dr. Hope replies, smiling warmly at Fae.

"So... What is your relationship with Enzo?"
"We're good friends-truth be told, he isn't interested in romantic relationships." Fae explains calmly, finding herself relaxing.
"Tell me... what has it been like since your father's disappearance." Fae freezes and gulps.

She wasn't expecting that question, though in hindsight she thinks she should have seen it coming.
"Hard. I... I miss him." Fae says, getting emotional as she slumped herself into the chair, trying to appear small.
"Are you angry about his disappearance?" Fae nods.
"Do you think that could contribute to your anger issues?"
"...maybe. I've just got so much on my plate. I don't know how to feel. I took grief counseling once."
"Yes, your mother mentioned that."
"I thought... I thought I would get better."

There was a pause.

"Fae... you don't just 'get better'. Grieving... takes time. Just like getting your anger under control-it takes time. I think we'll end our session here today, hm?" Fae nodded and quietly thanked the doctor as she rushed out of the room and found her mother in front of the door.

Fae hugged her and sobbed into her arms.

"I miss him! Why won't he come back?! Why won't dad come back?!" Fae cries as Marinette hesitates to answer. She just squeezes her daughter as she'd really like the answer too.

TIME SKIP...

An hour later, after Fae calm downed a bit, she left her childhood home.

"Are you sure you're ok?" Her mother asked and Fae nodded giving her a small smile.
"Yeah... I got some people to apologize too." Marinette smiled at her daughter and nodded, pulling her into a farewell hug before seeing her off.

Fae was now on the right path.

AT A NEARBY HOSPITAL...

Enzo was out of the house when Fae arrived so she decided to put on her ladybug suit and head off to the hospital where Jez Hart was staying.

That's why she found herself standing on a ledge, peeking through a window of his hospital room.

A very tan looking man with dark hair, a leather jacket, boots and black jeans stood at his bedside. Fae didn't have enough time to guess their relationship before the man gave Jez a kiss on the forehead--they were defiantly a couple.

Finally, the man left and Fae snuck in. Jez turned a little frightened and blinks.

"Ladybug?"
"Hello, Jez. I... I wanted to apologize for my actions. I know you probably won't forgive me for... what I did, but I just wanted to apologize. I don't know what came over me and I'm sorry." There was a moment of silence before Jez spoke.
"I don't know if I've forgiven you, but... I appreciate your apology, Fae." Fae's eyes widen in shock.

How did he know?! Jez chuckles.

"I'm a fashion designer in Paris-what person in my field doesn't know what Fae Agreste looks like?" He said with a chuckle and Fae smirks.
"Promise you won't tell anyone?"
"I swear it." Jez says.
"Soo... who's the guy?" Fae asks, making some small talk.
"He's my boyfriend, Mateo. Why do you ask?" Fae shrugs.
"Just curious... he seems like a caring person." Jez smiles warmly.
"He is... very caring and considerate." Fae smiles at Jez and nods.
"That's nice. Anyway, I gotta go. I hope you get better, Jez." She says.
"Thank you... Ladybug." Jez replies with a wink before Fae leaps out the window and is gone in a flash.

BACK AT FAE'S APARTMENT...

Enzo and Rosa sat on the couch, scowling.

"Look... I know you two are mad at me, but I'm sorry. You don't have to forgive me, but... I'm sorry." Rosa sighs.
"How do you expect us to forgive you when you-" Rosa was interrupted by a broadcast.

"Jez Hart, a victim akumatized by Hawk Moth, who is recovering in hospital had asked our news station to come down and he had something important to say."

The screen cuts to Jez with several reporters surrounding him, with Mateo sitting in a chair on the sidelines.

"I just want to say that we should not be angry at Ladybug. She has visited me personally and has apologized. It may not be much, but I appreciate and admire her for it, so... Ladybug, if you're watching, just know that I forgive you and I hope Paris understands to not put you in harm." The screen cuts back to the reporter.
"There you have it... maybe Ladybug is the hero we need. And now to Tom with the weather-"

Fae turns back to her friends and they look up at her hesitant, before Rosa pulls her into a hug.

"I hate that I can't stay mad at you." She says before letting go. Fae looks at Enzo who rolls his eyes and gets up to hug her too.
"I can't stay mad at you either... besides, someone has to pay rent."

Author's Notes

Hi! It's a Saturday and I woke up at 7:27 completely forgetting that I don't have to get up for school.

So yeah, that's how my day is starting.

This was originally gonna feature another villain but I just decided to scrap that and focus on the Fae's well being and the apologizing angle.

If you didn't see my announcement, I'm gonna try and finish this book because
1) I only have nine chapters to go
2) Just so I can get it out of the way and not have to worry about it.

(I apologize in advance for the spam).

Wish me luck lol

P.S. I chose to give Fae a middle name on the spot, but she's named after Adrien's mother (if I had thought to given her a sister that would be her name)
