"Only one more Thunderpath to go," Leafstar corrected. "Thunderpaths are very dangerous, Death, and can take millions of lives." "Even for Twolegs," Aquapaw informed, nodding wisely. "Of course. Ivyblaze, you may go first," Leafstar meowed curtly, dipping her head. Ivyblaze smiled at her one and only daughter, and bounded across the Thunderpath when all was clear.

It felt like forever when it was her turn. Aquapaw stepped up, scanned left and right, and swiftly padded across the hard surface. "Aquapaw!" Sunpaw screeched, his eyes widening. "Look out!" She stopped, trying to listen, and heard a monster coming, and fast. "Hurry up! I can't afford to lose all my kits!" Ivyblaze snarled, gripping the apprentice's neck with her teeth and yanking her to the group of cats. "Oh, s-sorry," Aquapaw murmured, a blush creeping across her cheeks.

Sunpaw was next, and he darted across the Thunderpath just like that. He smirked at her, waving his tail proudly. "I don't think Death can go across that fast, can you?" he sneered. She just rolled her eyes and focused her attention on the only two cats that haven't made it to safety yet: Stormheart and Death. "Go, I'll be right behind you," Death promised the deputy. "I want to check to see if there are others of us," Stormheart replied sternly. "For our guaranteed safety."

"I can take care of that!" he growled. "Just go, will you?" "Go on ahead!" the gray tom snarled. "Can't I take care of myself?" "Fine!" Death hissed. He made it across in three leaps, but his accomplishment made no affect as two monsters were sprinting straight towards Stormheart! He wasn't even halfway across! Aquapaw thought, horrified. Though her limbs were frozen into ice as the two monsters crashed into the deputy, causing a bit of fire and dust to dirty the air.

She coughed, and Twolegs clothed in a dark blue came, setting up barricades so other monsters couldn't reach the accident. She observed quietly as Leafstar padded grief-stricken down the Thunderpath, towards her deputy's body. She touched his cold, dirtied pelt, then raised her head, immediately glowering at Death.

"My beloved deputy has died, and by the deal, it's all your fault!" she howled, eyes beginning to tear up. "I shall kill you myself, you cheap piece of dung!" With claws unsheathed and teeth bared, she lunged at Death, who stood rigid with confusion and anxiousness. Without a word, Leafstar snatched his throat with her teeth, claws shedding into his debris-collected pelt. She shook him like a ravenous dog, then dropped his bloodied body, his blood even on her own pelt.

"Alright, let's stay here for the night, then we shall enter the Realm of Shadows first thing in the morning!" Leafstar yowled. Everybody obeyed the tempered she-cat, all except Aquapaw, who could only stare at Stormheart's body. Memories came flooding back, back when she was only five minutes old, and he carried her into the camp. He was the first one to ever care for her, and now, what seemed like her father, he was dead.

"A death followed by fire will be caused by the liar," she whispered to herself, the prophecy she had never told anyone.
