Bryce's P.O.V.

It was one at night and I was reading a novel. After completing my homework till twelve, I decided to read a new novel because I'm a night owl and I don't get sleep that easily. Novels provide me an escape and they're far better than people.

A bike's horn caught my attention. Adjusting my spectacles, I walked to my window. I looked down and saw Kyler Grace parking his bike in the parking area. Becca was standing next to his bike. My mom and her father were out for a business trip for five days. She's taking whole advantage of their absence.

"Here comes her one-night stands", I muttered to myself when I saw Kyler and Becca walking inside the house. Becca is no less than a playgirl. As far as I've known her, I've never seen her settle with any single guy. Kyler is also a toy for her. Maybe she also is being toyed by guys like Kyler. Who knows the truth?

I went back on my bed and covered myself with my blanket. Adjusting myself in a comfortable position, I focused on my novel ignoring the sounds of laughing downstairs. Becca is way too noisy. I plugged in my headphones to avoid hearing her shouting. Thanks to the inventor of headphone and music. I was so engrossed in reading my novel and all of a sudden my room went pitch black.

What the hell?

"What kind of sick joke is this?", I muttered and removed my headphones. I picked up my mobile and tapping its flashlight, left my room.

"Becca. What happened?", I asked walking towards the stairs.

"Nothing. I guess it's a short circuit. I was trying to make a coffee and as soon as I switched on the machine, the light went off", she replied from downstairs.

"At least call someone for help", I said as I reached the hall.

"Why don't you do that? The emergency diary is near you" she said and I rolled my eyes. I walked to the couch and looked out for a diary next to the table.

"Do you want to go to my room?", I heard Becca saying in a whisper but it greeted my ears. I rolled my eyes.

"Is this an offer?", Kyler replied. I shook my head.

Alike people find each other very soon!!

I dialled the electrician and told him about the short circuit. He asked me to give him twenty minutes. I agreed and sighed in relief.

"Are there any candles here?", I asked flashing my mobile light on the floor because I don't want to see Becca or Kyler for that matters.

"It's in the kitchen. We're going to my room", Becca said. Her mobile light flashed on my face. I placed a hand over my face as it's bright light gave me a headache. She chuckled and turned away the flashlight away from my face.

"Ok", I replied and walked towards the kitchen where the duo was already standing.

"When is the electrician coming?", Kyler asked.

"In twenty minutes", I replied.

It was dark in the house but still, I could saw two figures looking at me standing in the kitchen. The kitchen was a bit less dark because of the light entering it from the street light outside the house or was it moon's light or was it light of stars because science says that moon has no light of its own but stars do. But oceans do reflect a light amount of moonlight. And the moon is responsible for Low and High tides.

"Cool. Call a maid to help you", Becca's voice broke my trance.

Right!!

I slapped back of my head. Sometimes I can get so lost in my thoughts that I can go to a completely different zone. I mean just now, I thought from a short circuit to tides created by the moon.

Bryce stop zoning out!!

I walked to the kitchen and grabbed some candles. I couldn't find matchstick so I lit the gas stove and used it to lit up my candles. I got about five candles. I lit up one and took rest four with me. I closed the gas stove before walking out of the kitchen.

I placed one candle on the table and two next to the couch. I placed rest one near the door. I even placed one on the stairs so that no one falls down. The room lit up sufficient for me to see it. I heard Becca's laughing inside her room. Her room is on the first floor still I can hear her.

I wonder what funny jokes Kyler is telling her? Why is she laughing so much?

I thought to go and take my headphone from my room. The last thing I want to hear is her moaning. I left my mobile on the couch and walked upstairs to my room. Becca and my room are on the same floor and that irked me like anything. I asked my mom to give me a room downstairs but she said that those are for guests and I'm a family member so I'll have my own room.

To be honest, I consider myself as a guest too. I don't know why is she so persistent in forcing myself as a member of Trevor family? My dad's surname is Decker and I'm sticking with that only.

As soon as I stepped on the last stair, I heard Becca's room opening and I saw her running out of the room. She was giggling. She ran to my side and bumped into me.

"Hey", I compliant as her elbow hit right into my chest and damn that hurts like anything. She hit her elbow right on my mammary glands. It pains like bi***.

"Watch where you're going sucker", she said and giving me a small push, she ran downstairs. My spectacle fall on the ground when she pushed me. I saved myself from falling.

I couldn't care for my glasses because I was busy rubbing my injured area. She's a mean girl. I was mentally cursing her when suddenly someone holds me from behind. My body froze. It was Kyler Grace because there are only three people in this house. He encircled his hands around my waist. His chest was touching my back sending shivers down my spine.

"Caught you", he whispered in my ears and kissed my earlobe. Goosebumps ran down my whole body.

"I-", I spoke but he turned me around and pulled me towards him so swiftly making me hyperventilate. Words left my mouth when I felt his hot breath fanning across my forehead. My hands which were over my chest were now over his chest trying to keep distance between us. I could feel his heart rapidly beating against his chest. My heart was about to explode too.

"Ky-", he placed his finger over my lips.

"Shhh", he sushed me. My legs were trembling out of fear. He pushed me against the wall behind and I could sense him way too close to me. His one hand went behind my waist and other over my cheeks. I felt my cheeks heating up. My breath becomes shallow. I could feel his breath over my lips. He caressed my cheeks with his thumb and then slowly traced my lower lip.

"So, now you're nervous", he whispered over my lips. My eyes widened. He slowly kissed my cheeks and the corner of my lips. An electric shock ran all over my body when his lips touched my skin. He's freaking me out. His both hands roamed down my back and it stopped right above my butt. He pulled me, even more, closer to him. My whole body was pressed against his.

Adrenaline rushed inside my senses and it's a hormone of fear, flight and fight. I closed my eyes and pushed him with as much force as I could. He cursed under his breath because he falls down on the ground with the amount of push I gave him. With goosebumps causing hair of neck stood erect, I ran with shaky legs and didn't stop until I reach the couch. I sat down and hold the cushion close to my chest. I could hear my heart beat ringing inside my ears all loud and clear. My throat was dry.

What did just happen? Kyler was going to kiss me. No, scratch that. He almost kissed me near my lips. My hand touched the corner of my lips. I cannot forget this feeling of being so close to him. His touch was still lingering over my body. That kiss was still sending shivers down my body.

I was trembling sitting in my seat only. Kyler and I had an almost intimate moment together. This was my first time being this close to anyone. He touched me at all those places which just freaked me out. How could he behave like that to me?

My mobile rang making me jump in my seat. It was from the electrician. I picked up one candle and decided to go out of the house to show light to the electrician. Kyler walked downstairs holding his stomach and my heart get a mini attack to see him shirtless. I actually felt his naked chest against my fully clothed body.

Holy fudge Nuggets!!

"Have you seen Becca?", He asked. Although without spectacles, I could not appreciate his features but I shook my head in NO.

"Where are you going?", He asked.

"Electrician came so I'm going out", I said.

"Wait. Don't go alone. I'm coming with you", he said and then he ran upstairs. I waited for him to show up. Becca walked to me.

"What are you doing here?", She asked.

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"Why are you standing holding a candle? Trying to scare me? You look ugly doesn't mean you will scare the shit out of people", she said and I rolled my eyes.

"Your boyfriend was looking for you", I said.

"She's not my girlfriend", Kyler responded to my comment. He came and stood next to Becca. He had his shirt on. I left a sigh of relief.

"Not yet but we never know about future", Becca said and kissed his cheeks.

"Let's go Bryce", Kyler said.

"Wait. Where?", Becca asked.

"The electrician is outside your house. I'm just giving Bryce company", he said. He's a gentleman, I get it.

"Ok. I'll be waiting for you in my room. We've lot to catch up", Becca said sugar coating her voice and it made me nauseous.

Gross!!

"Yes. We've to talk about the little stunt you played a few minutes before. You pushed me", Kyler said and my heart raced its beat.

Shit. What if he will get to know that it wasn't Becca but me whom he has kissed. Almost kissed. Heat rose to my cheeks.

"We're getting late", I said making sure I'm breathing.

"Ok", Kyler said and we both walked out of the house. Kyler took the candle from me and stood next to the electrician. I looked away from him all the damn time.

After a few minutes, the whole house lights up once again. I paid the electrician and Kyler blow out the candle. We walked inside together and he passed me a smile. I just gave him a tight lip smile. His shirt was not even buttoned up properly. I looked away.

"Sorry for causing the trouble", he said.

You've a lot to be sorry about but I wish I could tell you!!

"Good night", I said and after picking up my mobile from the couch, I walked to the kitchen. I switched off Kitchen's light and Kyler walked upstairs.

I saw him standing at the topmost stair and I gulped nervously. I made my way up and his eyes were fixed on me only. When I walked on the topmost stair and reached the first floor, he walked to me.

"Aren't you forgetting something?", He asked.

"Nothing I could remember", I stammered looking at him.

He forwarded his hands towards me and I found my spectacles in his hand. I took it from his hand and placed them on my eyes. Now my world is clear and not blurred. I saw Kyler's piercing gaze over me. I pulled down the sleeves of my sweatshirt.

"Don't drop your glasses here and there. Someone could have stepped over them", he said.

"Thanks", saying so, I turned on my heels and ran to my room. I closed my door without even turning once and rested my back against it. I could breathe now. Feeling embarrassed, I ran to my bed and covered my face with a pillow.

Why did it happen to me? Why did I have my first almost kiss with Kyler? Caleb never hugged me and this guy just touched me all over my body.

I covered myself under my blanket but then I heard the sound of bike's engine being kicked. I jumped out of my bed and ran to the window. Kyler was sitting on his bike and Becca kissed him on his cheeks. He looked up at my window giving me a mini attack. I immediately hid behind the curtains. I saw him driving away. I slowly removed the curtains and saw his retreating figure.

Tonight I'm gonna have a sleepless night!!
