safe streets are pocket dimensions - the gateways to which can only be opened by Irregulars. Typically limited to a single street, filled with shops where Irregulars can buy things they can't in the 'human world' and others places where Irregulars can slip out of their human disguise.

The 'gateways' are often brick walls in alleyways, or doors that should just lead to the other side of a wall. Since Irregulars are so dissimilar, the door opens to creatures that aren't human (it was also registered not to open for dogs, cats, etc. After a few instances of lost pets almost revealing the identity of safe streets to humans). The gateways are often activated by placing your hand somewhere on the surface.

Gateways may remain open for a while. Brick walls that open up take a moment to shut, and doors have to be manually closed. Because of this, it's possible for humans to sneak into the safe streets.

Underwood Route is a particularly popular one of these streets. Vendors sell a wide variety of magical items, whether they be potion ingredients, fashion-forward relics, or a book on summoning demons. With both stalls and full-on stores, the street has a place for every kind of seller. The price of being a busy street means that a lot of pickpockets try their luck here though.
