Part 16
As time went by, Khushi and Rohan had managed to set up a business, it took them hard work for days and a lot of sleepless nights and finally it had taken off quite well, Khushi had also started earning her profits from it, which meant, soon she would be able to live on her own.
It had been four months since they started the business and the last time Anjali was admitted in the hospital, currently she was doing quite well, but both Arnav and Khushi knew that she could leave them anytime, the doctors had already said that, so they never left a chance of taking good care of her so she could live a bit longer.
Things between Arnav and Khushi were still the same, Arnav was still bitter towards her for reasons she dint know and she had stopped bothering trying to figure out why he dint like her or whatever. She had her plan set since the time she decided to find a job, it was to earn enough to create a living for herself and leave, and she was set on that goal, nothing was going to change that, not even the one kiss that at happened that day at the hospital.
Khushi walked out of the bathroom after taking a shower and getting dressed in there since she dint want to be found naked in room by Arnav, she was dressed in a beautiful white jumpsuit, she grabbed her heels and sat on the bed as she put them on buckling the strap when Arnav walked inside the room.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, don't you remember the last time I told you that I don't find it important to inform you where I'm going or not?" Khushi looked at him in confusion.
"You're my wife, I have all the right to know!" Arnav looked at her angrily. He walked towards her, pushed her to the nearest wall and put both his hands on the sides blocking her way.
"You never took me as your wife Arnav, save that drama for someone else." Khushi shrugged.
"As long as you live in this house you have to tell me where the hell you are going."
"Fine, I have some work, so that's why I'm going." Khushi rolled her eyes.
"Work at eight o'clock in the evening? What kind of work is that?"
"Like I said, I don't find it important to inform you, whatever the hell I do, it's none of your business." Khushi tried to push him away so she could leave. Since the time she kissed him outside the hospital, things had been really awkward between them.
They never really even talked much, Khushi would always sleep in the guest bedroom but made sure Anjali never found out that's why she had to shower and get dressed in Arnav's room but she would always try not to talk to him, now today all over a sudden he was asking her questions and it was confusing. Since when did he start caring anyway?
Why was this man so confusing? One moment he dint care about a thing and the other moment he wanted to know everything.
"Do you remember our first night?" Arnav asked, where was this going?
"You were acting so innocent, you wanted to hold my hands, you were so shy when I saw you naked, you even wanted me to hug or shit like that." Arnav laughed.
"What's your point?" Khushi asked, she dint like how he was making fun of what she used to be, so she was innocent, what was wrong in being innocent, at least unlike him she wasn't hurting anyone.
"The point is that it was all a drama. You were just faking it all, being so innocent and stuff. Look at you now, dressed like this going out at night and when I ask you where you are going to you don't want to tell me.
I mean I get it, it's not easy to keep acting for a long time, but you see this Khushi? This is your real face, this is who you really are, just exactly what I thought you to be." Arnav said as he finally stepped away from her.
"I changed because of you Arnav! And what I wear is none of your business, You made me like this and quite honestly I'm thankful, I wouldn't have known how strong I could be if you dint treat me like crap."
"Oh look at the sweet innocent Khushi who used to respect me a lot talk back to me."
"You killed the sweet innocent Khushi, to get respect you need to earn respect and treat the other person with respect too. And why the hell am I even standing here tolerating shit from you, I have important things to do, and what I do is none of your business so don't ever ask me any questions again." Khushi said as she rushed out of the room in a hurry, she headed downstairs and stood outside waiting for the taxi she had requested to arrive.
She pulled out a handkerchief from her bag and wiped of her tears but they wouldn't stop coming out. Why did this still hurt so much? Despite all this months of trying to get rid of the feelings she had for him, they wouldn't just disappear.
Well it wasn't easy to forget the only thing you had dreamt of since childhood was it?
She never wanted this. All she ever dreamt of was a fairytale, she was completely unknown to the outside world or how ruthless it was, but now that she was out in the open alone, her innocence had been completely ruined.
She did like being strong and being able to stand up for herself in front of Arnav, but she also missed the old Khushi who was so innocent, who believed in fairytales, who thought Arnav was her prince charming, the Khushi that believed in love.
Arnav had taken it all away from her, all she was left with was hurt, and pain and betrayal. She would never forgive him for taking her innocence away from her.
She got into the taxi and the driver took her to the restaurant where she was going to meet Rohan and some clients, they had met at the office today and they had a huge order for her, if she got it, she was finally going to be able to leave Arnav and create a life of her own which she couldn't wait to do, and tonight's dinner was going to decide her fate, literally.
She just hoped everything was going to be right.
*****
After dinner, Khushi and Rohan decided to head for an ice cream and then they just sat together talking about stuff, the dinner had gone pretty well and the clients said they would call tomorrow to tell them about their final decision, so they both hoped for the best.
Later on, Rohan dropped her back to Raizada mansion as he headed home. Khushi headed upstairs to Arnav's room so she could get her Pajama's change into them and go to sleep to the guest room.
She pushed the door open slowly so she wouldn't wake Arnav up, she was in no mood to argue with him or anything, once the door was open, she walked in and was met with the worse sight ever.
Mujhko yeh teri bewafai mardalegi... Lagta hai mujhe yeh judaai mardalegi...
Mujhko yeh teri bewafai mardalegi... Mujhko Yeh teri bewafai mardalegi...
Arnav and Lavanya were sleeping on the bed together. So this was where their relationship had come to? He was cheating on her openly? Khushi stood there wondering why she was even feeling hurt, she knew she was going to leave him one day so why did she even care if he was with another woman or not.
This wasn't the first time she was seeing him with Lavanya.
It was becoming impossible for her to now understand him, she could no more take this, she could no more stay in this house and let Arnav humiliate her every day, she was done with this.
She turned on the light and headed towards the cupboard, started pulling all her clothes out and put them in a suitcase.
"What the hell, people are trying to sleep here." Arnav said as he rubbed his eyes.
"I'm sorry, this is the last time I'm disturbing you, I promise." Khushi replied, trying not to look at him, she dint want to show him her tears, she dint want to show him that he still had the power to hurt her like this because quite honestly he dint deserve it.
"What are you doing?" Arnav asked as he walked towards her.
"Packing my things and leaving for good. That's what you wanted right. Congratulations Arnav, you won in losing me." She smiled with tears in her eyes.
"Oh so now you'll blame this on me too."
"Is the upper part of your head okay or not Arnav? Seriously, you are here with another girl on bed when you are freaking married to me, who do you want me to blame?"
"Yourself!"
"What the hell did I do? I dint bring her here, you did."
"Yes, if you can openly go on date with other men, not even one, but three and sleep with them then why can't I?"
"I dint... Wait, you followed me to the dinner dint you? And you think I slept with them? Why the hell would you even think that? It was a freaking dinner!" Khushi looked at him angrily, feeling broken, how could he think that way about her? Seriously how the hell on earth.
"Keep up the tone, Anjali is going to come here soon and if the tumor doesn't kill her, the shock will." Lavanya said as she looked at both of them.
"Stop talking will you?" Khushi looked at her like she wanted to punch her and then back at Arnav.
"Yes I followed you, and do you know why? Because I had started questioning myself, I had started questioning whether all that I thought about you was wrong. You were so different than what I had seen you be, and for a moment I almost wanted to believe that you were as innocent as you pretended to be. I thought I was wrong but then you proved me right, you are still the same Khushi, you are just like your mother."
"What does my mother have to do with all this?"
"Tell me you dint go to meet those rich men so you could sleep with them and earn money, I mean your mother did that, she taught you how to do that, why wouldn't you do exactly that?
You Khushi, are just like your mother, you sleep with men for money and I can't have a wife like that." Arnav looked at her accusingly.
"Enough!" Khushi shouted angrily as she slapped him tight. This was what he thought of her? This was why he hated her? Everything now made sense, how on the first night of their wedding he thought that she was experienced because he thought she was sleeping around with men for money?
She dint even want to talk to him anymore, a man who could think that way about her deserved no words nor any explanations from her.
She closed her suitcase, picked it up, turned back to the cupboard as she pulled out some documents and walked out of the room heading downstairs.
"Where are you going with those documents?" Arnav asked as he followed her.
"To put them where they belong, I'm sure you don't need our marriage certificate anymore do you?" Khushi said as she headed to the kitchen turned on the gas and set them on fire.
"This is the end of this marriage Arnav, nothing binds you to me anymore. We're both free now." Khushi said as she left their marriage certificate burning on the floor and walked out of the damn mansion, for good.
Ishq jahan humne likha... kaagaz woh tune jala diya...
Phirse shaame bhi gayi... phir yaad ne teri ruladiya...
Arnav stood out there helplessly as he watched her walk out of the gate leaving him and his house for good, what he couldn't understand was why it hurt that she was leaving, why a part of him want to run behind and stop her.
Chaldiya chorke... aise dil todke... dheere dheere mujhe tanhayi mardalegi...
Mujhko yeh teri bewafai mardalegi... lagta hai mujhe yeh judaai mardalegi...
"Why dint you tell her that nothing happened between us?" Lavanya came from behind.
"Oh don't act like you dint enjoy this. You could have told her too but you dint." Arnav shrugged as he walked back inside and sat down on the sofa feeling confused about the way he was feeling at the moment.
"So much hatred Arnav? Couldn't be only because she was sleeping with other men for money. So come on, tell me what is it?" Lavanya looked at him seriously.
"One of those men was my father!" Arnav said as he stood up feeling disgusted, about everyone in his damn life, his father, Khushi and Khushi's mother because of whom all this happened.
"She was just a kid wasn't she? You can't blame her for the things her mother taught her." Lavanya asked.
"Yes, she was a kid when her mother was preparing her for this, but she was no more a kid when she slept with my father... I saw it, with my own eyes." He stood up and walked upstairs.
"But you told me you dint meet her for years once she was gone."
"I dint... but I did see her, when she was grown enough to finally sleep with him. I've just been trying to battle my thoughts, trying to lie to myself, trying to tell myself that she was just a kid, trying to believe her innocence trying to believe that it was all wrong, maybe there was nothing that happened that night but she left without saying a word, without explaining a thing and that confirms it all. A person doesn't explain only when they are guilty and Khushi is guilty." He sighed.
"Whatever, who cares about her, at least now I can have you all to myself." Lavanya smirked.
"Please, we broke up the day I decided to get married to her." Arnav rolled his eyes.
"But you came back to me."
"Lavanya, you and I both know that I will never get married again right? All this relationships and things aren't made for me, I did this for Anjali only."
"So you just used me to drive Khushi away?"
"Don't act like you had no idea, I told you that's what we were doing." He lied down on the bed grabbed his blanket covered himself with it as Lavanya stormed out madly. He tried to get some sleep, only if... sleep would come to him.
