Chapter 2: Add it to my list...

Bang Bang Bang...

The loud banging on the door woke me up from my somewhat deep sleep. I came home late or early this morning after my waitress shift at the diner around the corner from the motel. Working three jobs is tiring but that's what I have to do to survive. Getting here around two in the morning I just wanted to go straight to sleep since I had to work my other two jobs later in the day. Sleep had been on my mind but was short lived when Candy from next door had a client over. You guessed it, she's a prostitute. She had to make a living somehow.

After hearing screams and squeals coming from her client for a good two hours, I was finally able to fall asleep by 4:30 am. I'm not much of a morning person, especially when I'm overly tired. I could be a total bitch, okay, I am one if you awake me without cause early in the morning. So someone must have a death wish if they are banging at the door at --hold up, let me check -- 7:30 in the freaking morning! Oh yeah, someone's dying today.

Rolling over the mattress I slowly make it to the door. Unlocking the locks I open it to find, no one. "What the --?" I mutter. Who had the nerve to bang on my door waking me up and then not stick around for me to cuss them out?

"Ugh!" I grunted but before I could slam the door I notice a white piece of paper taped to it. Ripping it off I read.

                                        MASSACHUSETTS EVICTION & CONDEMNED NOTICE

Dear Tenant(s):

As of February 14th, 2015 you must vacate premises under the Massachusetts Board of Health laws. Premises have been found unsafe and unfit to reside in. If you need help financially for moving expenses, you must contact the offices as soon as possible.

I stopped reading after that. ARE YOU F**KING KIDDING ME? Slamming the door I throw the letter on the bed and head to the bathroom where I dry heave for a few minutes. It happens when I'm stressed out and I am now. I started doing that after Joaquin started molesting me so now it's just habit.

I sat on the floor for a while. What am I going to do now?

Standing up I decide to take a shower to scrub off my dilemma and by that I mean my life!

I wonder if I kill myself here in the bathtub if anyone would bother to look for me? Maybe my body will be buried under the pile of rubble. At least I wouldn't have to pay for my burial.

After having suicidal thoughts for a good half hour I decided to head over to City Hall to get info on my eviction. Hopefully I could get enough money to find a place for a while.

2 Hours later...

After spending most of my sleep time in City Hall I was able to take care of this eviction. From what they could tell me, the owner never showed up to court after the Code Enforcement office served him papers to fix the place or be fined and have the building condemned. Guess which one he chose?

Now because of his irresponsibility myself and others are out of a home. Let's add homeless to my list of disappointments in my life. What a way to begin my 21 years of life which won't be until next month but still, it doesn't seem promising.

The other thing I was able to find out was that once the property is leveled this company called The O'Brien Brothers Construction and Development group will be putting up new apartment buildings. An attempt to revamp the neighborhood I suppose. They're probably going to be over priced condos for yuppies or for their spoiled rich brats who want to "slum" it here in Dorchester. The way things are going, the city might just condemn every building that doesn't fit their standards. Who knows, they probably hired the O'Brien company to rebuild the whole city.

I guess this is just another speed bump on my winding road called life.

Now I'm on my way to my first job of the day which is helping Mrs. Valdez. She is an elderly lady who hired me to clean her place and run errands for her. She has bad arthritis and other health issues so she needs someone to help her out at times. She's like a grandmother to me since mine passed away a few years back. Maybe spending time with her will keep my mind off of my situation

**********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

I'm back at the motel to go get ready for my shift at O'Mally's. It's a family owned Irish restaurant which has been around for years. I started working there a few weeks ago as a waitress and the tips are good. The clientele are a bit sketchy at times but they are nice to me at least. Mr. O'Mally is a big sweetheart and reminds me of my grandfather, he's in his sixties and doesn't act like it.

I have to take public transportation since it's further into the city so I have to leave a good hour or hour and a half depending on the weather before my shift starts which is at 5 pm. Getting a car is on my list of hopes in the far future.

The bus gets to the stop on time considering that is snowing. I love snow, especially the first snow fall. I remember after Joaquin would finish abusing me I would run upstairs to the rooftop of our building and just watch the snow flakes fall. It was so peaceful and for a short time I could forget how crappy my life was. I pretended to be one of the flakes so I could be blown far away from my home.

We get to the stop which is across the street from the restaurant and try not to slip on the ice. I'm wearing a skirt and my snow boots which are worn out but they still keep my feet warm. I will change them once I'm inside.

It's a Monday so it shouldn't be that busy which means not too many tips unfortunately.

Walking in I greet Stella the hostess who greets me back. She's really nice and we've become acquaintances since I try not to make too many friends. Having friends means having to share things about your life which you might be ashamed off; like living in a run down motel which will be condemned in a week and may have no where to stay. How you ran away at the age of almost fifteen to get away from your mother's lunatic drug leader molester of a boyfriend before he raped you and then might kill you later on for fun. Yeah, I'm not much of a sharer.

Walking back to the employee locker room I pass Mr. O'Mally's office and peak my head in to say hello.

"Hi Mr. O'Mally. How are you?" I asked standing by the door to greet him. He looked up from the papers he was looking at.

"Oh, Isabel you are here good, good. I'm okay now that I see your bright smile. I actually wanted to speak to you." he says cheerfully with his Irish accent pointing at the chair in front of his desk.

"Alright." I say walking in and sitting down. Wonder what he has to tell me? Not that it matters since we usually have a ten minute talk when I get in. He loves to talk to me about pretty much everything.

"Isabel, we are having special guests who will be dining here tonight, business men if I may add who will be having a meeting of sorts. I would like for you to be their server tonight. I know how wonderful you treat the customers and I thought they might enjoy your hospitality. Plus, they may tip you handsomely." he plasters a huge smile on his face. Which I know too well. He's up to something.

"O-kay." I draw my word and stare at him. "What are you up too Mr. O'Mally?" I ask him suspiciously.

He looks at me wide eyed like if I discovered him cheating on a test. Pointing at himself he says "Meee? I don't know what you mean?!" which translates into "I'm planning on setting you up..."

I laughed then got serious. "I know you Mr. O'Mally. You're up to something if you are giving me this table. So, spill the beans." I tell him sitting back on the chair and crossing my arms across my chest.

He sighed dramatically like he always does "Okay you got me! I thought that since they have money that you could use the tip. Is that so wrong?"

I stare at him for a few seconds. Mr. O'Mally knows my situation, the living one only. "Thanks Mr. O'Mally. I appreciate it and I won't let you down."

"No problem Isabel, you are one of my best servers, and I know some of the customers come back because of you."

"Me? I doubt that, it's the corned beef they come here for anyways. What time will they be here?" I ask.

"Six o'clock. Alanna is setting up the table now. If you need any help, she can help you. Don't worry the tips will be yours." he winks making me laugh.

Great Alanna. She's Mr. O'Mally's granddaughter and for some reason she doesn't like me very much. I could care less since the feeling is mutual.

"Alright sir. Thank you so much. You really don't know how much I appreciate this since I've been evic-..." crap I almost let it slip out.

"You've been what Isabel?" he asked cocking his brow.

"Umm, nothing." I said quickly standing up. "I need to get ready for my shift. Thanks again."

I went to leave but he called me. Almost made it.

"Isabel."

I slowly turned around. "Yes?"

"Please tell me what is going on lassie. You know you can share anything with me." he asked with concern in his eyes. I would love to tell him but he's been overly nice to me already and I really don't want to feel like I owe him anything.

"I know I can. I will be fine Mr. O'Mally. I'm handling it. I always do." I nod and leave without him saying anything else. I feel bad that I don't share my dilemma with him. I know he cares and I've never had anyone really care or take care of me without expectations so is easier for me to be closed off.

It's already 5:50 pm and my special table should be arriving shortly. At the moment I'm attending to my other table.

"So, Isabel, do you have a boyfriend?" one of the guys at the table asked.

"Please, like she would give you a shot if she didn't?" the other one responded.

"So. Do you?" he asked gain.

"What's it to you? I didn't realize knowing my personal business was your duty when you come to dine here?" I responded.

His friends laughed causing him to turn red in embarrassment. Poor guy, I didn't mean to embarrass him but like I said, I don't put any of my personal business out there.

"Isabel!"

Turning around I see Stella smiling at me. "Hey."

"Some of the men from your special table are here. I've already seated them." she tells me still smiling cheesily. What is wrong with her?

"Okay, thanks." I tell her and go over grabbing a pitcher of water.

I make my way over to notice three men sitting. The table is further in the back of the restaurant for more privacy. That section is mainly used for private parties, large dinner parties and meetings.

They are talking as I walk up to the table "Good evening gentlemen. My name is Isabel and I will be serving you tonight."

They look up at me with a smile. Damn they are handsome. They look as if they are in their twenty's, well older than me. The two to my left had dark hair and muscular, and the one to my right has light brown hair with a reddish tint when the light hits it just like his facial hair which I may add is sexy as hell. Oops did I say that? Focus Isabel.

"Well hello to you too Isabel. Are you new here?" the one to my left asks.

"Yes sir." I replied politely pouring water in the glasses.

"Well, if I would have known that O'Mally had hired such a beautiful server, I may have come over sooner...even eat here a few times a week." his comment made the one next to him chuckle but the other guy just stared at him with no expression.

"No one is stopping you. The food here is good and I'm sure Mr. O'Mally would appreciate the business regardless of who you're server is." I shrugged. Men hitting on me while at work wasn't new to me so I just make a smart ass comment as if I ignored what they say.

I heard the sexy guy to my right chuckle but didn't say a word. "Are you gentlemen still waiting for someone else?"

"We are yes. He should be here shortly." sexiness said. Even his voice is sexy. Okay Isabel, calm down already.

"Yes but we would like to place our drink order if possible." the other guy to my left said.

Nodding I waited for them to tell me their order which they did. I didn't write it down because I have a good memory.

"Alright gentlemen. I will be back with your drinks shortly." smiling I left the area to place their drink order with the bartender and went to check on my other tables.

After five minutes I came out of the kitchen to only bump into someone. Thank goodness I wasn't holding any food. "I'm sorry." I apologized quickly and looked at the person who had their hand on my forearm. I don't like people touching me so the fact that he was for some reason wasn't bothering me. I just felt warm.

"It's quiet alright Miss. I wasn't watching where I was going." the sexy guy from my table said. Oh his voice and those eyes. He has amazing blue eyes that you can swim or drown in -- they are gorgeous.

"It's alright sir. I was just about to take over your drink order." I tell him with a small smile. I was feeling flushed.

He pursed his lips and looked at me strangely as if he didn't know what I was talking about. "O-kay." he said.

We stared at each other for a few seconds so I just turned on my heels and went to the bar to grab the order. If I stayed looking into his eyes I would start drooling. I have never acted like that towards a man and I can't start now.

Grabbing the tray I made my way back to their section. Looking down on their drinks I made sure they were correct when I set it down. I grabbed the first two handing it to the men on my left then grabbed the other two to give to the sexy one when I noticed the missing one was seated there.

Looking up I took a step back spilling some of their drinks on my white blouse. Holy Mary of God! There's two of them?! Wait. There's two of them! As in twins! Two gorgeous blue eyed Adonises. Please don't screw up Isabel.

"Are you alright Miss?" the one who just got there asked.

"Isabel. Her name is Isabel." the other one tells him glancing at him and then me.

"Isabel. Beautiful name." he smiled and my name just sounded perfect when he said it.

"Umm, yes, I'm sorry about that. I-I can get you both another drink -- on me of course." I stutter. I feel like a babbling idiot.

"Sweetheart, the drinks are already on you. I wouldn't mind licki-..." the flirtatious one didn't finish cause the first twin glared at him and said "Don't." shaking his head no.

"I suppose they are. Thank God I'm not wearing my red lacy bra. If not, I would really be embarrassed." I quipped laughing at myself. Something I tend to do when I'm nervous or in this instant embarrassed. You should have heard the things I told Joaquin and Julio to get out of being assaulted.

The four of them looked at me for a few seconds then the two to my left began to laugh while the twins looked at each other. They then leaned back on their seat crossing their muscular arms across their chest in sync and smirked at me. Is that good?!

A/N: Hello my readers. Here's another chapter. I'm enjoying writing this new story. Isabel's character though had a bad start in life with being abused by her mom's boyfriends is still sassy and finds humor in her situations. Now she's facing eviction and not wanting to tell her boss.

What do you think she will do or should do? What do you think of her attitude towards the things that are going on in her life...and what do you think about her reaction to the twins?

Thanks for Reading, Voting and Commenting...
