The Tank
Prologue: (Y/n) Pov)
I've been in a tank my whole life. I've been kept as a freak in a circus side show. I hear people saying how I'm not real. How I'm lying to them. I didn't know how I could lie, when I never said a word to them. I kept my mouth shut for so long that a honestly forgot what my voice sounds like. Oh I guess by this time your a little confused. You see I'm a mermaid. Or at least that's what people have been calling me. All I remember from my past is water. Water and loneliness. It was after my first performance when I saw him. That boy who looked at me and smiled. I'll never forget that big toothy grin he had. He had a sticker that said "Happy 10th BiRtHdAy Sean!" No matter how many times I imagined it, it made me smile. Swimming and the feeling of water is all I knew, till the day he fell in the tank. Master aloud people to go and touch the water for more money. I saved him. That day I felt the warmth of human skin, and the sensation of the sweet smelling air. Yet it didn't last. Master noticed how I kept going to the surface. So he put a lid on it, and filled it to the brim. I was back to being trapped. I was back to being alone. I guess that's how it was meant to be. The sad little fish girl who will never have a friend. Or so I thought.
(End Prologue ((Y/n) Pov)
It's been a few years when something strange happened, I woke up to the sound of shoes hitting the concrete floor. I silently swam to the glass and looked around. There was a boy! "What is he doing here? The circus is closed," I thought as I tilted my head in confusion. He walked up to the glass and put his hand on it. "I'm gunna bust ya out," he smiled. "Hu!?" I said. I cover my mouth. I wasn't use to talking. "I know we probably aren't the same age, I'm 15 and you're probably 12 or whatever. I don't know mermaid logic, but I can't stop thinking about you! You need freedom and Jackaboy is gunna give it to ya!!" He said excitedly. "Please it's ok," I mouthed out. "No it's not," he frowned. Then looked up and proceeded to climb the ladder used for feeding. "Sean please," I whispered. If my owner comes in he'll hurt him.
Before I could process another thought I was blinded by bubbles. I felt an arm coil around me, and I was pulled up to the surface. I coughed and gasped for air! "You ok," he smiled. You could feel my face heat up as I looked over and he was smiling his big smile.
(Jacks Pov)
I did it! I saved her! I carried her down bridal style. I can't believe I'm doing this, but ever since I heard that the circus was being shut down I could stand the thought of what could happen to her. She was cold, and wet. Not in a good way. "WHO DA HELL ARE YA," a man yelled and I sprinted out the back of the tent. She clutched me tightly. "Don't be scared! I gotcha," I said as confidently as I could. "Sean," she mumbled into my shirt. I got to the shore as the sun was rising. I gently put her down. "There ya'r free," I smiled. She looked at me with her big (e/c) eyes. Damn they were hypnotic. "Sean I'm scared. Please let me go back. I don't know if I can make it alone," she said nervously. "You gotta. Being in a tank forever ain't doing ya any good. You need to be free," I said giving her a last hug but she didn't let go. "Sean.... I will miss you. You were always my favorite," she whispered into my ear and it gave me goosebumps.
She slowly went in the water. Her (tail color) tail disappearing in the water. She gave me one last smile then vanished. "If ya love something set it free... then why does it fee like shit," I mumbled as I walked back home soaked and exhausted.
