Amy was dressing to go to bed when she got a text message from Dana. 

D: How did the date go?" 

A:It was no date, and not too well.

D: Geez, what happened?

A: I pissed him off. That's all I can tell you now.

D: Ouch, let's hope tomorrow you both can move on from this.

A: Good night, tomorrow I'll tell you everything you want to know. I'm feeling a bit tired now.

Amy got herself in bed and decided to go to sleep, she felt tired and just wanted to rest. However, a knock in the door was heard. 

"Come in Sean." She said sitting on the bed. 

"Hey sis, just wanted to ask, at what time is your play on Friday?"

"Six. "

"Ok then, good night. " He answered walking back to the door but Amy stopped him. There was something in her head and needed to express it. 

"Sean. " She said crossing her legs. 

"Yeah?" He asked turning his head. 

"You're not going to ask me where I was today?"

"Unless you want me to know, I don't want you to feel I'm being nosey. I guess you want your privacy too. And i need to understand that you are growing up."

"I was with Jonah." She said whispering. 

"Did he make a move on you?"He asked sitting next to her.

"We just hanged out together, he took me to a park. Nothing happened, we just talked. "

"You know, I wished mom and dad were here, they would give you advice on dating. All I can tell you is to be careful; you know how most guys are, they just want a thing from girls and once they get it they disappear."

"You think Jonah is one of those guys?" Amy asked sincerely wanting to know her brother's opinion.

"He seems like a good guy, but be sure to know him well if you plan on getting serious with him. Guys can be players and not care if they hurt a girl's feelings."

"Thanks Sean,good night. " She said kissing him on the cheek.

"Sleep tight Aims. " He said kissing her too and walking out the door.

Jonah stopped on a McDonalds drive in, and as soon as he got his order he drove back home. He couldn't forget his earlier conversation with Amy, she mentioned it must have been hard for his father to raise him on his own. He was always thinking how he lost his mother but he never considered his dad lost his wife too. He remembered his dad missing work for days and crying on his room, Amy's words made him think how he was not the only who griefed his mom's death. 

As he arrived he went to look for his father at his room, he knocked several times but got no answer. He slowly peeked inside the room and saw his father sleeping. Jonah looked at it was watch, it was eight o'clock, Usually he was awake working, Jonah guessed he must have been really exhausted to fell on bed and sleep. He decided to do the same and went to bed.He would speak to him on the morning.

Next morning it was chilly, so Amy decided to wear her yellow hoodie. She walked to her locker feeling protected from people's stares and didn't care about what they were thinking.  As she walked to her first class she was stopped. 

"Hey, i didn't recognize with that thing on your head." A male voice said. 

"Hey Jeremy, what's up?" Amy answered taking off the headgear. 

"I need to talk to you. About Dana. " He whispered.

"Something bad happened to her?" Amy asked concerned.

"Not exactly, but its something you should know since you two are friends. "

"Ok, let's go to a more quiet place. "

The two of them saw an empty class and got inside. Jeremy peeked around to confirm no one was there.

"What is it?" She asked concerned. 

"Yesterday I accidentally bumped with Dana as I was filming a documentary with my camera. I helped pick her stuff, and she had pills with her. "

"What kind of pills?" Amy asked.

"Diet pills. "

"Are you sure? Couldn't have been vitamins or other type of pills? Like migraine pills?"

"No, those were diet pills, My mom used them too, and stopped when reading the effects.I am telling you because you're her best friend, and she will listen to you. Those things can become addictive."

"Thanks for telling me Jeremy. "

Amy had trouble focusing in class, thinking in what Jeremy told her. Dana never had weight problems, in fact she would always grab all types of food on the caferia, but Amy did noticed a change in her eating habits. Dana changed her beloved burgers for salad, and brownies for oatmeal cookies.She even stopped grabbing regular coke and replaced it for diet coke.She would applaud her if she was really trying to get healthier, but using pills was taking things to another level. 

Lunch bell rang and as usual Amy waited for Dana to arrive, and when she did all what Dana was having on her tray was an apple and a water bottle.

"That's all you're eating?" Amy asked. 

"Yeah, my mom prepared a huge breakfast this morning. I still feel full."  She answered as she took a sip from her water. 

"Dana, are you eating properly?" Amy asked whispering. 

"Why would you say that? Of course i am. "

Before Amy could say something Dana opened her eyes in surprise. Dana guessed why she was being asked about her eating habits.

"It was Jeremy right?He told you about my pills, i'll smack his head against the wall when i see him. " She said looking around for him. 

"Dana, listen to me. Why are you suddenly worried about your weight?"

"It's embarrassing. "She said lowering her head. 

"You know you can tell me anything. "

"Last time i tried on my play outfit it didn't fit, its means i gained weight, and the play is in two days.I decided to lose that extra weight and started taking the pills since last month. The girl who is in charge of the costumes, Paige Stewart, had to adjust my dress to fit me better because it was too small."

"I get it, but that's no reason for you take pills. You don't need them. Those things can cause you more harm than any good."

"Ok fine, i won't take them anymore. "

"I want you to prove it to me. "

"How?" 

Five minutes before lunch both girls walked to the nearest bathroom. Amy made Dana flush the pills in the toilet , much to her dismay but it was for her own good. Amy didn't want her best friend to get addicted to those pills by any way.

Friday arrived and all the cast was getting ready for the play, Amy was helping Dana with her dress. Everyone was running to wardrobe and make up stations, it was a chaos. Space seemed too small for everyone running around. Paige Stewart, the girl who was in charge of the costume department, was chasing everyone around reminding them to be careful with the gowns.

"Remember everyone, those clothes are valuable. Treat them with love and give them back to me in impeccable conditions." she exclaimed loud enough for everyone to hear as she walked around.

"See, i'm a fat pig. The zipper won't go up. " Dana exclaimed desperately to Amy she tried to get her zipper up.

Amy got the zipper up in no time. 

"Chill Hermione, you're ready for scene. "

"Thanks Perdita, or should i say my dearest daughter?"

"You look both amazing. " Jeremy said stopping next to them with his wardrobe on. 

"Thanks. " Amy answered smiling but Dana only gave him a glaring look that made him run away.  "Common Dana, give him a break. "

"I still can forget how he snitched  on me. "

"He didn't, he's a nice guy. He was worried about you. "

"He told you that?" 

"Not with words, but with actions. Otherwise he wouldn't have said anything to me. "

"Wilkes, do you have a second?" Jonah said.

He was wearing his play clothes, and he looked charming, wearing a brown tunic and a white long sleeved shirt. He looked like a prince taken out from a fairy tale. 

"No problem, I need to retouch my makeup. " Dana said touching her face.

Dana walked away leaving them alone. 

"I want to apologize for yelling at you the other day, it was unnecessary and I'm sorry. "

"You were right to get angry , your relationship with your dad is not really my business.I should have not said anything. "

"And yet you made him come to the play, funny right?"

"He's here?" She asked in  a low voice. 

"Come see. "

He gently grabbed her hand and guided her next to the stage, and moved the curtain a bit for her to watch. He discretly pointed to a man in a black suit seated in the middle rows. Indeed, Richard Parker was seated waiting to see his son's performance. 

"I'm happy for you. " Amy exclaimed happily. 

"Thanks Wilkes, my dad is here and it is all because of you. "

"You are giving too much credit. "

The two of them remained quiet not knowing what to say next, until Mr. Geller started telling everyone to get in their places.The play was about to start. 

"Break a leg. " Jonah said. 

The play started and everything was going out well. Amy felt her lips dry, and felt as if her voice was trembling but she wanted to do a great job, to prove herself, and of course to make Sean proud. She ocasionally looked in a discreet way at him and she felt glad when she saw him smiling. The play ended and the place was filled with applauses at the end of the play. Amy went to look for Sean when the play ended and he gave her a hug. 

"You were amazing Aims, i'm so proud of you. " 

"Thanks, I was so scared."

"Who knows, you might as well participate in Broadway someday. I just want someone to take us a picture. " He said looking around.

Ms. Reynolds was passing by with a dress on her hand, and was asked by Amy to take the picture. 

"Ms. Reynolds, would you mind taking a picture of my brother and me?" Amy asked giving her two cellphones. 

"Of course, dear. " She said placing aside the dress and grabbing the phones to take the pictures. 

"Thanks Ms. Reynolds. " Amy said and later addressed Sean. " I will go change, wait for me here."

"So, you're the famous Ms. Reynolds. " Sean said tucking his hands into his jean pockets. 

"Famous? How come?" Ms. Reynolds crossed her arms. 

"Amy has talked a lot about you."

"I hope good things only. "

"One hundred percent. She told me how you encouraged her with the play, thanks for that. As you know she's quiet and felt insecure at first.But you helped her feel better with herself."

"It's nothing, she just needed a little push. I knew she could do it.She is talented.She reminds me of myself in school, i was quiet too. "

"Really? That's hard to believe. " 

"I was, I didn't have too much friends back then and I was a bookworm. "

"Ms. Reynolds, i would like to know if you would like to join Amy and me for dinner sometime. Maybe now if you don't have any plans .It's my way of thanking the support you gave her. "

Before she could answer a girl with long blonde curls came closer and said hi to them. Ms. Reynolds had no idea who she was but Sean did, as she was his student and Amy once saw him with her not too long ago at the restaurant. She remembered him telling her the student's name was Anabelle Clark. 

"Hello Professor Wilkes, I'm glad I got to see you. " she said with a huge smile on her face.
