Jonah stared at his phone expecting to see an answer from Amy, but to his disappointment it never came. He sighed, wondering what he was doing wrong since none of his moves seemed to work with her. Would she have read it already? If she would read it, he would have received a quick answer. He said to himself she was probably asleep, even though as he checked the time it was only nine o'clock. He waited thirty minutes to check if she answered but nothing. He decided he would speak to her tomorrow; it was better that way. He undressed only having his boxer on and went to sleep. 

Next morning Amy and Sean were having breakfast before leaving. Sean always insisted Amy had to had breakfast before going to school, he took all that stuff about being breakfast the most important meal. He prepared French toasts.

"Are you ready to go?" Sean said finishing his last French toast and seeing Amy was almost done. 

"Yeah. I need to ask you something. I have an English assignment with one of my classmates, and he is available today after school. Is it okay if I stay with him after school?" 

"It's him?" Sean asked sighing. 

"Yes, it's an assignment in which we have to recreate a romantic literary scene. "

"Great. " He said.

"Chill Sean, it's just an assignment. Not as if we are getting married. "

"Fine, when you are finished call me to pick you up. And remind  me to get you a pepper spray. " 

"That's not necessary. " 

"It won't hurt if you have it just in case of emergency. "

Amy got in the car and texted Jonah really quick, trying not to cause any suspicion in Sean. 

A: Sorry to answer until now. I'm available today. See you later.  

Soon she got a new text message, however it was from Dana.

D:I got great news. See me at the fountain before school starts. 

The school fountain was everyone's favorite place. Everyone felt that place was non rule zone, as it was a place only for students. Teachers would barely pass by, and if they did, they wouldn't even look at what students were doing. They felt free to do what they wanted. Amy sat on a side of the fountain waiting for her friend to arrive. As she waited for her, she decided to check her phone and use a site she heard about lovecalculator.com. She introduced both her name and Jonah's in the boxes and clicked the button that said calculate. 

 " Interesting, you two a have a good chance of dating. " She heard a voice saying next to her.

"Damn Dana, you freaked me out." Amy said dropping her phone to the grass and picking it up. 

"Relax, Am. As i said, I have great news. Ethan Larson's tour dates are out, and he's coming to Miami in February. And that's not the best part, there will be a meet and greet. " she said with a huge smile in her face.

"Awesome, but how are we going to get the money?" Amy asked. 

"We can get a job, easy as pie. I have a cousin who can give us a part time job as waitresses. It won't be too much but with tips we could earn much more. "

"I would have to ask Sean; you know how he is."

"So that's a no. "Dana frowned her face.

"It's not a no. Let me talk to him and let see what happens. I forgot to tell him i got signed for the play auditions. "

"You're right, i totally forgot about that. But we'll think in something. "

Amy heard her phone giving her a notification she had a new text message. 

"It must be Sean, give me a second. "

She checked her phone and instead she saw a message from Jonah, causing her great surprise. 

J: Ok then, meet up at the library at 3 o'clock. See ya. 

"How come you haven't told me you have been texting Jonah?" Dana said giving her friend a soft slap on her arm. 

"It's for a class assignment only. " 

"It doesn't matter, I'm your best friend. It's your duty to tell me this kind of stuff. You're meeting Jonah at school today, that's great. Remember to give me all the dirty details. No excuses." 

All day Amy had trouble focusing on her classes knowing at the end of the day she would see Jonah at the library. She would occasionally stare at him during the classes they are classmates to see if he had a different reaction to her, but not at all. When the bell rang indicating the end of the day she walked to the library hoping she wouldn't do something that made herself look like a fool. She sat on one of the closest tables to the entrance so Jonah didn't have any trouble finding her. Two minutes later he entered to the library looking everywhere, when he spotted her he came closer. 

"Hey. " He said moving a chair backwards and sitting down while placing his backpack on the desk.

"Hi. "

"I hope you don't mind but i got ahead in the assignment. " He said placing a copy of the book "Pride And Prejudice" by Jane Austen on the desk. Its cover had a girl with brown short curly hair and wearing a pink long dress that resembled a night gown, and a bonnet in her head seated on a chair looking somewhere else. She was resting her chin on her left index finger while on her right hand she was holding what it seemed a piece of paper. The cover was attractive to Amy, who always wanted to read that book.

"I'm listening. " Amy said .

"I'm pretty sure almost everyone in that classroom will present excerpts from Shakespeare, such as Romeo and Juliet. That's why i was thinking we should do something different. I was thinking we should read a dialogue between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. What do you think?" He asked opening the book and showing her what the page said. 

"I like the idea, I think we should do it. I'm impressed by your initiative. " She said smiling at him. 

"Why? You thought I am a brainless jock?" He asked. 

His tone was defensive, and Amy didn't understand why. She was being nice and he acted this way. What was his deal? She wanted to raise her voice at him but after remembering where they were she decided to calm down.

"I never said that. " She whispered.

"You don't have to say it, you think it as everyone else in this school. That the only god thing I excel at is soccer, and nothing else. "

"I was just being nice, it did impress me you came with an idea for the assignment since I had nothing in my head, and your idea makes it easier for both of us. Look, if it's going to be so hard to work with you, then let's split the work. Tell me the dialogues we'll be reading, we both memorize them on our own, we present in class, and we are over with this. " 

She grabbed her things and walked outside the library. As much as she liked him she would not let him treat her that way for no reason. She was walking going the stairs looking for her phone in her pocket until she remembered she placed it in her backpack. She stopped for a moment to look for her phone when she heard the door being open someone calling her. 

"Wilkes, i'm sorry. I shouldn't have exploded the way i did. " He said as he walked closer to her. 

"Yes, you shouldn't have." She said  still looking for her phone since she couldn't find it and not giving him a glance. 

"What are you doing?" He asked. 

"Calling my brother so he can pick me up." She unlocking her phone.

"I can take you home, that's no problem."

"No thanks. "

"Please Wilkes, I'm sorry. I really am, want to go for an ice cream with me?"

"What?" She said looking at him not believing what she was listening. 

"This is my way of apologizing; I know i was a jerk to you. I promise I'll take you home later." He said coming closer to her and being in front of her and his face being really close to hers.

Amy saw his eyes pleading her for another chance, and in that moment she didn't know if she wanted to kiss him or slap him, as she was still mad at the way he treated her. She thought in what Dana would say if she was there and with no doubt, she would insist her on accepting.A part of her wanted to go, not everyday she would be invited by him.And he did seem sorry.It didn't seem to share a little more time with him. 

"Fine. " She answered. Jonah smiled in his usual charming smile that made Amy melt like an ice cream on the hottest day.

"Great. Wait for me here, I left my stuff inside. I'll be right back. "

Jonah ran inside the library and Amy waited for him just as he said. She was wondering if she wouldn't regret later saying yes to him. He came back with his things and both walked together to his car, a red shiny Audi. He pressed the alarm button and opened the passenger door for her. 

"Thanks. " She said sitting down and buckling her seat. 

Later he entered too, buckled up, turned on the engine and started driving away from the school.
