May's Search for Revenge

(Ash)

We stopped searching the room. Nothing had come up and we had spent too long trying to dig around. Everyone sat in different places after the room had been tidied up, taking a moment to breathe and relax.

"Anyone else here that thinks we should just tell a teacher?" Iris suggested and then she looked around the room. "Say, May has been a long time."

"I'll go check on her," I instinctively spoke out, but got weird looks from the girls.

"She went to the restroom," Dawn raised her eyebrows.

"Are you some sort of pervert? Something you're not telling us, huh, Ash?" Misty folded her arms and frowned.

"I mean, I am going to head to that area to see if she is okay. I'm not going to walk in on...nevermind, just be quiet. I'll be back in five minutes," I sighed and left the room while the others conversed. I just had a gut instinct that she wasn't okay. The room being messed up seemed too fishy, considering she suddenly left to go the toilet.

I took heavy, long strides down the corridor and the stairs. I wasn't taking any chances. I just knew something was up and it could potentially be an integral part of our investigation.

(Serena)

"I think we shouldn't tell a teacher," Cilan answered Iris's question after Ash had left the room.

"Why not?" was all Iris instantly asked Cilan, like she expected that response.

"Well, this is our duty as a club. We 'study' about criminal investigations but we are in fact getting involved in the investigations for our own interests and study. This is our case, it happened to us. Teachers don't need to be involved. Think of it as a classified operation," Cilan explained his reasons. I noticed everyone else agreed. I sure did.

"I suppose you are right," Iris stood up and folded her arms. "What's the plan, then?"

"Waiting for Ash is probably best," Drew spoke up this time.

"Yeah, let's see if any information turns up on his end," Kenny agreed with Drew.

"Guess we should, just to be sure," Iris and Cilan nodded at the same time after Iris spoke like they were both saying the same thing.

I glanced out of the window. It had been at least an hour since school ended. Club activities were all but over for most people. We were going to be heading home soon enough. Darkness was creeping into the night sky, invading the brightness of the day and making everything gloomy.

"I wonder if Ash has found anything," I mumbled to myself, looking back to the group.

"What?" Misty asked me from my left.

"Nothing!" I instantly replied in panic and then sighed. I could feel Dawn's eyes burning into my mind, reading every last bit of it like an open book. She was going to destroy me with so many questions.

(May)

I put a hand through my hair and pushed it back over my head, looking up slightly to let it fall into place. After that, I got up and brushed myself off. The corridors were sure as hell dirty. At least I learnt something today. I took a look left and then right. Complete and utter silence. It was way too quiet.

"That prick and his little bitch are gonna get their karma," I said to myself with a delightful grin. I was feeling happy to dish out some revenge.

"Watch your language, May," Ash was behind me and his voice made me jump up out of my skin, almost literally.

"You scared the life out of me," I turned around and frowned at him.

"Well, I wanted to come check on you, for the group. What happened to make you so psychopathic?" Ash spoke with a serious tone but I knew he was just being curious and joking.

"It was Alain that did it. Turns out he also has a little girlfriend to keep him company. How nice, right?" I felt anger in my head. That's all I felt mentioning his name.

"They are upperclassmen, why would they do such a thing?" Ash took his turn to frown.

"They have no class, you doofus. They're just uppermen...and bitches," I shrugged and pushed my foot off of my locker. "I am going to dig up some info on Alain, while you guys keep an eye on him, his girlfriend and also that big friend of his."

"Big friend of his?" Ash raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, he slapped me, have you not noticed?" I pointed to the big red mark that still hadn't faded on my cheek.

"Don't tell the other guys that, I bet they would want to do more than keep an eye on the big guy," Ash said it like he had no problem with my favour, but I could sense his anger on the inside. It was too obvious. Any friend would feel angry if another was hurt.

"So, let's talk about revenge," I rubbed my hands together and looked up at Ash. He folded his arms and took a glance back, as if he was looking back to the club room.

"Well, they were debating about talking to a teacher about it," Ash said the words I didn't want to hear.

"Well, tell them what happened and that they have to keep an eye on the group of assholes," I span around on my foot and raised my hand. "See ya."

"Wait, May!" Ash shouted down the corridor but I ignored him.

Revenge was already tasting way too sweet!

The next day came around and I realised I hadn't even replied to any of my text messages. I was so angry and all the adrenaline had worn off once I had gotten home, making me just jump straight into bed and sleep through the whole night. I heard the birds chirping and a cold draft rolling into my room. The draft usually signalled the start of a new day, since my window couldn't actually shut anymore and just hung halfway open, causing a horrible draft through the cold days.

I instantly hopped out of bed and went downstairs, looking around with a hefty sigh.

"She's never in is she? Always staying at some other guys apartment or some rubbish," I said to myself, walking into the kitchen. Always have to look after myself while my Mom gets heavily 'acquainted' with loads of other guys. She was a performer and I say 'was' because she got injured and retired. Then, without notice, her whole personality changed and she stays out all night and morning.

I wasn't hungry for breakfast, I knew revenge would fill up my appetite. I took a bottle of water and headed back up the stairs to get into my uniform. I looked at the time and realised how late I was going to be if I didn't hurry up.

"Guess I'll just skip brushing my teeth. Feeling too lazy anyway," I decided, quickly gargling some mouthwash and spitting it out, before taking a piece of chewing gum from my Mom's stash and walking out with my bag in my hand.

I walked straight to the bus stop, wondering if Ash and Serena would be there today. I'm not sure what was going to happen, but I needed information and fast, otherwise, revenge wasn't going to happen and then I would just claw out Alain's eyes instead. Yeah, sounds good.

"Good morning, May," of course Cilan was the first to say anything. "I speak for all of us this morning because everyone doesn't really know how to react to your 'revenge'."

"It's not that hard, ya idiots," I massaged my head and then straightened up. "You guys keep an eye on Alain, just to make sure he doesn't try anything else, as well as that stupid girlfriend of his and then I'll get the information we need."

"You say information WE need, but it sounds like 'I need', y'know?" Drew folded his arms and leaned against the glass in the bus stop behind him.

"Whatever, just do that and the plan will run smoothly," I frowned and folded my arms, that was final. At least I got Drew to speak.

"Sure, sounds good," Cilan agreed and everyone looked up at him. "What? It's a perfectly good plan. I am fine with it, May."

"Thank you, Cilan," I smiled and nodded my head at him.

The bus arrived at that moment and I felt someone brush right past me as we all waited on the curb.

"Don't say anything stupid while on the bus to Alain, okay?" Gary continued walking just as the bus parked up and he got on first.

"I know that," I replied, but it was more to myself. I decided to get on last and avoided eye contact with Alain, who I could tell was grinning like an idiot, burning his eyes straight into me. I kept my smile on my face and walked straight passed him. I bet it pissed him off.

The bus ride was quieter than usual. It was clear why. Some people that were just spectators could feel the tension. I got a few looks and a few whispers while the gang talked amongst themselves. I always sat next to Misty and she was looking pissed off, arms folded, so I didn't bother her.

The day went just like yesterday, except we had two tests on this day and I knew my brains was going to melt.

"Okay, class, for our first test we are going to be testing your knowledge in science. Then, we will take a short break and proceed with some Romeo & Juliet questions to test your Shakespearian knowledge," Sycamore explained and we all had to mentally groan, putting on our 'let's do this' faces.

The first test began and I wasn't feeling so well. Something hit my stomach suddenly, like an illness. It felt horrible like it was twisting my stomach around. I felt a random urge to start being sick and I didn't raise my hand, I bolted straight out of the classroom and to the toilets on the floor below.

I heard the door swing open and stepped out of the cubicle.

"May?" Misty sat up on the counter with the sinks and saw me walk out. "Oh my god."

"What?" I noticed she was looking down at my hands. I was shaking like crazy and I didn't even notice it until I looked down myself.

"I'll take you up to the nurse, let's go," Misty grabbed me and literally dragged me to the nurse's office. "Forget the tests, something is wrong with you."

"What about Sycamore? Won't he be waiting for us?" I said while Misty continued taking me towards the office.

"I'll go tell him once you are seen to," she didn't even hesitate to reply, instantly knowing what she was going to do next.

We got to the nurse's office and all I could do was look at my hands. I felt fine, but the shaking wouldn't stop. It made me feel weird, just looking at something I could hardly feel and only see.

"Excuse me," Misty said as she opened the door. It was quiet in the room, only the nurse was there. "Nurse Joy, can you take a look at my friend please?"

"Of course," Nurse Joy gestured for me to sit down and noticed I was shaking. "You look rather pale child, are you okay?"

"I was also just sick and now that you mention it, I have a weird sensation in my stomach and chest area," I felt sick again, but I tried my best to ignore it while Joy examined me closely.

"Have you eaten at all today?" Nurse Joy asked me.

"Nope," I instantly replied, realising I skipped breakfast and I also haven't touched a chocolate bar for two straight days, maybe this was a side effect of not having something I always have.

"It seems like you have hypoglycemia, although I don't think I can fully check to make sure. I'll give you these for now and see how you get on after a few hours. Come back if you have any problems, okay?" Nurse Joy finished talking and pulled out three chocolate bars.

I wolfed them all down within a few seconds, not wasting any time. Before leaving, I put the wrappers in the bin and walked out of the room.

"Thank you," I closed the door and Misty followed me back to the classroom.

"How you feeling?" she asked me as we continue to walk.

"Tired, dizzy and sick. I shouldn't have skipped breakfast. Revenge has been on my mind for far too..." I stopped talking and let my voice trail off, staring straight across the hall we were walking through. Alain was walking with his friend, but the girl wasn't in sight.

"'Too'what? Long?" Misty looked at me and then she followed my gaze, straight at Alain, who had noticed us.

"Well if it isn't the stupid girl and her stupid friend. Have you learnt your lesson yet?" Alain folded his arms and grinned. "Woah, what's got you lookin' so pale? Was my friend here that scary?"

"No I just saw your face and I feel like puking, that's all," I retorted, seeing the anger on his face form. "As for your friend, he slaps like a little kid."

"You want me to try it again?" he tried to threaten me, stepping in front of Alain.

"Why don't you try it on me?" Misty stepped in front of me and stared straight at Alain's friend.

"You asked for it, you little-"

"What's the meaning of this?" Sycamore raised his voice.

Uh oh.

"Erm, nothing sir," Alain and his friend took a step back and then they ran out of sight, away from the hall and probably back to whatever hole they crawled out of.

"Were they picking on you?" Sycamore turned to us and Misty shook her head.

"No, just being a nuisance. You know how some upperclassmen are to people like us," I said that assuming he knew our ranks. I could tell by his nod that he understood what I meant.

"I understand. Let's get back to class. That is, if you feel okay?" Sycamore looked at me and it was my turn to nod.

"Feeling better, it was just low blood sugar, that's all," I shrugged. It wasn't a big deal, but everyone would be drilling me with questions after class.

That was exactly what happened. I spent my first five minutes of lunch answering questions before having enough and barging out to the cafeteria. Misty had bought me some chocolate and that was all I ate. Within five minutes I had finished my lunch.

"I'm gonna dig up some information while everyone is busy. The staff room one the next floor could be empty," I looked around, trying to scope out Alain or any of the teachers on that floor.

"You're going to sneak into the staff room?!" Gary shouted, but in a hushed whisper.

"Don't worry about me, I will be right back!" and I rushed off before any more questions could be asked.

I casually walked towards the stairs and took a peek up to see if anyone was around. Thankfully, it was quiet and luck was on my side. I took the two set of stairs up and got onto the next floor. Just as I did so, a teacher slid open the door to the staff room and stepped out into the corridor. I slipped away from the corridor and leant against the wall, pressing my back firmly against it. I could hear the voices of all the upperclassmen on this floor, but also the clicking of heels. Was it the teacher, or...?

"Excuse me," Miette's voice rang out and I froze, thinking she had noticed I was hiding on the stairs. There was a moment of silence.

Was my plan already failing? Was I not going to get my revenge? I felt my heart beating against my chest like a drum. I thought it was going to explode. I tried to think of a way out of the situation and then a new plan, which made my head begin to hurt. Panic started to set in and wash over me like a waterfall. I was just about to burst out and reveal myself. I thought it was the best decision after being caught.

"What is it?" the teacher that had walked out finally replied to Miette and I took a heavy sigh of relief.

"Can you come into the classroom, please? We have a problem. Someone's work is missing," Miette explained to the teacher in a more sophisticated voice than I had heard originally. Guess she was just acting at this point. Must be the class representative. Thankfully, the teacher followed and the classroom door shut.

She hadn't shut the door to the staff room! I stepped up onto the third floor and swooped round the corner into the staff room. It was quiet and empty, my perfect opportunity.

Then it hit me.

I had no idea what class Alain was in. Thankfully, his name would be one of the first so I could find his information with ease, but I would possibly be searching all four desks and get caught. I had to be quick.

Moving as swift as an eagle in flight, I went round each desk and tried to find Alain's information, but there was nothing. It was so strange. What was the reason for it? Then it hit me, just before it revealed itself.

"Looking for this?" Alain was stood at the door, file in hand. He had a huge smirk on his face.

What was I going to do now?

If you couldn't tell, these next few chapters are going to be about May vs Alain.

Find out what happens next, whenever I decide to write the next chapter.

I will try and make it quicker than the next one.
