Chapter 21: Fortunes

Wednesday

After we got home on Sunday, Ben and I didn't really text each other until today. He asked me if I wanted to hang out with him tomorrow and I asked if I could bring Dani just for a cover-up so that I could leave the house.

It's dinner right now and as usual, my dad asks me about my day. "I just woke up, ate breakfast, did the chores, ate lunch, and then mom came home. Nothing much," I say taking another spoonful of rice. He nods and we continue to talk about stuff that's on the news. 

After dinner, I went to take a shower and I played some games on my phone until a notification popped up that someone added me as their friend on Snapchat. I press on the notification and I come to find out that Tyler added me as a friend again. What? I thought he was mad at me or something. Before I contemplate my decision to add him back or not, I go and text Ben.

J| Hey dude guess what

B| What

J| Wait are you busy or something

B|No why is it going to be long or something

J|No not really

B|Okay so what happened

J| Tyler just texted me

B| Wait you didn't block him yet?

J| Shoot. I forgot. Should I reply?

B| I mean come on, think about it, do really want to?

J| No

B| Then don't. Simple

J| I'm gonna do it

B\ What. You LITERALLY just said no

J| Idk maybe he said something important.

B| Whatever you do you. 

J| fine.

Should I? Whatever I'm just gonna do it.

I add him back and he texted me a super long paragraph about how he was sorry and how he was stupid for kissing me. My immediate reaction was just to laugh. I felt like there was no need to forgive him. I'm probably never going to see him again and I'm not looking forward to being in a relationship and my mom probably wouldn't like it either.

I think I woke up and chose chaos because I just left him on read. 

J| Hey he texted me like a long paragraph about why he was sorry and how he was stupid

B| Really? What'd you do?

J| I laughed and left him on read.

B| that's gonna hurt when he finds out lol

J| Ikr lol I feel bad but not at the same time

B| I wouldn't tbh

J| Lol yeah

Thursday

"Hey did you know that the dude who kissed me added me on Snapchat again?" I say to Dani. "Really? What'd you do?" she says putting on her shoes. "I laughed and then left him on read," I reply. "HA! You blocked him after that right?" she asks. "Oh yeah, I should do that," I say taking out my phone.

Ben is picking us up today and we really have no plan whatsoever. "So, where are we going?" Dani asks him. "I mean it's really up to you guys, you wanna go to the park or go eat somewhere? Have any ideas?" He asks. "Uhh, how about we have a picnic?" I say. "Yeah, that sounds good," Ben says. "So, where do you want to eat?" Dani asks

"I'm down for anything," Ben says. "Of course you are," I reply.  "Wait, sorry was that mean?" I ask worriedly. "Here she goes, all apologizing and stuff," Dani says leaning back into her seat. "What, you just want me to be mean all the time?" I look back at her. "What? No, I was just saying that you get like this all the time," she replies. "I'm not like that all the time, well maybe but why do always have to call me out on it?" I say back. "Great, now you're getting defensive," Dani says. "What? Why are you so mean now-"

"Oh my god! Will you guys just stop arguing, jeez. You don't want me to crash just because of you guys." Ben exclaims. I sigh and sit back down in the passenger seat. "Do you guys want Panda Express?" I ask. "Yeah," "Yeah that's fine," Dani and Ben say at the same time. 

Once we got our food, we bought a picnic blanket at Target then we went to the local park to eat. "Mmm, this is so good," I say while taking another bite of orange chicken. I order my usual orange chicken bowl with chow mein. Honestly, that's like the best meal in my opinion. "I know right, you honestly cannot beat this orange chicken," Dani says. "Oh, I forgot to tell you guys that some of my friends are gonna come over to play some soccer if that's fine," Ben says. "That's fine," Dani and I say at the same time. 

"Jinx, Poke you owe me your Coke. Maybe give me your fortune cookie," Dani says snatching it from me. "Oh come on!" I exclaim. "Here, you can have mine," Ben says handing his fortune cookie to me. "Oh, no it's fine," I say handing it back to him. "Are you sure you want to be the only one without a fortune?" He says waving it in my face. "Well if I did take it you wouldn't have one," I say pushing it away. "I don't like fortune cookies," He says pushing it back. 

"Fine. You know, my dad told me that when you pick a fortune cookie you should always pick the one that's pointing to you," I say while opening up the cookie. "Hm, 'A faithful friend is a strong defense.'. I wonder who they're talking about," I say sarcastically. "Ah, I wonder who... Okay okay, let's see what I got, 'The truth will set you free'," Dani says showing us the piece of paper. "Interesting," I reply.

"Hey!" Will says walking towards us. 

"Hi," I reply.

"Hey," Ben says walking up to him.

"Sup loser," Dani says punching him the arm

"Ow!" Will says sarcastically while rubbing his arm. "You really thought that hurt? Wuss," Dani replies. "I was joking obviously," he says rolling his eyes. "Oh hey there Jill," Will adds when he finally sees me. "Hi, Will," I reply. "Oh the guys will be here soon, I just decided to come earlier since I had the time," he says to Ben. "That's cool," Ben replies. 

A few minutes later, the rest of the guys finally arrived and they were all so fit and had nice toned bodies. I notice one of my classmates from English among them but I'm pretty sure he doesn't remember me. I'm pretty sure that I'm not a memorable person but whenever I meet someone they appear in my mind from time to time unless I really don't remember who they are.

"Isn't Isaac on the football team though?" I say to Dani at the picnic table. "Who?" she asks looking up from her phone. "Isaac, the one who is literally in Chem with you," I replay. "Oh him, yeah I don't know. He probably has friends from Dreven," she says shrugging. "Come on, let's go walk around the park while they play. I don't wanna just sit here and watch them. Plus, I have to go home soon," I say nudging her on the shoulder. "Fine," she says getting up from her seat. 

I look behind us and I'd say at least 3 guys are staring are Dani.  "Dude, look they're all staring at you," I say to her. "Whatever, let them savor it while they can before I reject them all," she replies. "Look at you, getting all the guys but you reject them all. Your parents are even fine with you being in a relationship. You have a fancy sense of fashion and I look like a child when I'm next to you," I say grabbing my phone. "Jill. You are literally the best person in the whole world and I could never match up with your tolerance for people and your innocence. You are also literally the smartest person I know well. And, the next time we go to the mall I will literally make you a beauty queen," she says shaking me.

"See, I really hate how me being the nicest and innocent person is what literally everyone thinks I am. Do you not know how mean I get when I'm alone and judging people on the internet or on every show I watch?" I say looking at her. "Well yes, but your tolerance for even the most annoying people is amazing. Maybe you should become a teacher, it fits you well," Dani replies.

"I guess you're right," I say back. I look at my phone's clock and it's 2:30. "Oh shoot, I have to go home," I say to Dani. "Oh my god, you're mom's gonna be home soon," She replies. We run all the way back and I finally get ahold of Ben in the middle of their game. 

"What?" he says out of breath. "My mom's coming home. It's 2:30," I say out of breath as well. "Oh, okay. Hey guys I gotta take her home real quick, I'll be back in 15," he shouts to the rest of his friends. They all nod and we all walk back to his car. I sigh once I finally get inside and put on my seatbelt. "Alright, let's drop you off before your mom comes home," He says backing out of the parking lot. Dani decided to stay and go home with Will. I really wish I didn't have to go.

Once we arrived at my house, I was glad to find out that she was not home yet. "Okay bye! I had fun, thanks for taking us out Ben," I say walking up to the door. "Bye Jellybean," He says walking back to his car. "I thought we were over that!" I say laughing. "Maybe, maybe not. See ya," he says rolling up his window and driving away.

I walk into my silent house and take off my shoes. "What am I gonna do now," I say sighing and launching myself onto the couch.

A/N: I really had nothing planned for this chapter. I usually don't for any of them, to be honest with you. Anyway, I haven't updated in 2 weeks but it's fine. It's December already you guys! Unless you're reading this in the future then nevermind. I was thinking about how I'll look at this story in the future and once I finish it. The most likely thing would be that I would delete this but only time will tell, right?
