Chapter 8

My first few classes went okay I guess. Thankfully none of the teachers asked me to say a few words about myself because that would have been absolutely horrifying! I wasn't able to talk to anyone in any of my classes because I was too shy and no one else seemed interested in getting to know the new girl so I was pretty sad about that...

Anyway, in the break I just ate my lunch quickly in the library by myself, since I had no friends here. When I was done I went to the music room, making sure I had more than 15 minutes left before the bell. As I was walking towards the music room, I ran into the music teacher, a Ms. Rowell who I had spoken to earlier asking for permission to leave my guitar in the music room during classes. As she was passing me, I stopped her and asked her if I could use the music room during the break.

"Excuse me Miss, but can I use the music room to practice my guitar for the rest of this break?" I asked her politely.

"Of course Lana, I was just going to a teachers meeting. There won't be anyone in the music room now, so you will be quite free to play as loud as you like," she replied to me. I immediately thanked her and went on my way to the music room.

When I got there it was incredibly quiet so I silently closed the door leaving it slightly ajar so as to not make any loud sounds. I got my guitar out of the case and started tuning it since some of the strings were out of tune. After I finished that, I decided to play Mean by Taylor Swift which was one of my favorite songs out of many by her.

You, with your words like knives

And swords and weapons that you use against me

You have knocked me off my feet again

Got me feeling like a nothing

You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard

Calling me out when I'm wounded

You, picking on the weaker man

Well you can take me down with just one single blow

But you don't know, what you don't know...

Someday I'll be living in a big old city

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

You, with your switching sides

And your wildfire lies and your humiliation

You have pointed out my flaws again

As if I don't already see them

I walk with my head down

Trying to block you out 'cause I'll never impress you

I just wanna feel okay again

I bet you got pushed around

Somebody made you cold

But the cycle ends right now

'Cause you can't lead me down that road

And you don't know, what you don't know...

Someday I'll be living in a big old city

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?

And I can see you years from now in a bar

Talking over a football game

With that same big loud opinion

But nobody's listening

Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things

Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing

But all you are is mean

All you are is mean

And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life

And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday I'll be living in a big old city

And all you're ever gonna be is mean, yeah

Someday I'll be big enough so you can't hit me

And all you're ever gonna be is mean

Why you gotta be so mean?.......

After strumming the last note on my guitar, I suddenly heard the sound of someone clapping loudly which completely startled me as I froze and then slowly turned around. I then came face to face with a very pretty girl with auburn hair and light brown eyes who looked about my age.

"Wow! That was so amazing! Where did you learn how to sing like that? And you can play the guitar! That's so cool!" The girl rambled on and then suddenly stopped when she noticed my expression of utter surprise and shyness. "I'm sorry; I was rambling again wasn't I? Sorry. I sometimes do that when I get really excited or happy."

"N-no that's fine...... I was just shocked that someone heard me sing and actually liked it," I replied to her.

"Are you kidding me? That was amazing! Who wouldn't like it? You're so talented!"

"Umm.... Thank you?"

"Anyway, my name is Rachel Adams. What's yours?"

"My name is Lana Deluca."

"Cool, so are you new here because I haven't seen you around before."

"Yeah I am. I used to be in 'All Saints High School' before."

"Ohh I heard that there was a new student from there! "

As she finishes what she was saying, the bell rings indicating that it's time for my next class. "Uh I kind of have to go now Rachel. It was nice meeting you though!"

"Oh of course, I have to go too. Which class do you have now?"

"English literature. What about you?"

"I have chemistry. Okay I'll see you later Lana!" she says before rushing out of the room.

"Bye!" I call out softly after her.

I put back the guitar into its case and rushed to my next class. I was so happy that I was able to talk to someone I didn't know, even if it was only for a few minutes. And if that wasn't cool enough, she was also very nice! I can't believe she actually thought I was a good singer! But even then she probably won't want to talk to me again seeing as how antisocial and weird I must have seemed to her.

Hey guys!

The gif in this chapter has nothing to do with it but I really like it! The gif might break when you see it, I'm really sorry about that! But it looks pretty if you look past that, I think.

So I'm curious, what do you guys think of Rachel?

Anyway, I don't think I have anything else to say. So I'll see you beautiful people later!
