Lana Deluca was just like any other high school teenager. She had her ups and her downs, though some worse than others. She wasn't model material but she wasn't ugly either, if you know what I mean. She had a cute face but her beautiful greyish blue eyes were hidden behind huge nerd glasses which totally spoilt her otherwise cute face. Her body wasn't fat or thin, pretty average if you think about it. But she was still very conscious about it and thought herself fat.

She didn't have many friends, only one, who happened to be one of the most popular girls in school. Her name was Sierra Woods and she was extremely pretty with her long blonde hair and stunning emerald green eyes.

Most people never even noticed Lana standing next to the beautiful Sierra, and Sierra wasn't even a mean pretty girl, she was actually very sweet and kind which made it harder for Lana to even try to dislike her. She always felt compared to Sierra who seemed to have everything one could possibly want while she had nothing at all. And  the icing on this 'low self-esteem' cake was the fact that ever since the day they became best friends, Lana started getting bullied.

She felt like she wasn't in control of her life, her own life, which was supposed to be decided by her and her alone but that was not to be for Lana. She was always shunned and treated badly and she knew that was how it would always be and she blamed it all on her looks. Lana felt her emotions changing everyday from anger to sadness to remorse to shame and the cycle goes on. And the worst thing of all was that she couldn't help it or so she thought....

Sierra never understood Lana's problems since she knew that Lana was an awesome person and she didn't get why Lana didn't show that to the world. Sierra always introduced her to her other friends and they would be incredibly friendly to Lana whenever Sierra was around but as soon as Sierra left, they would completely ditch her.

Some people even used Lana just to get closer to Sierra, and Lana had many sleepless nights because of it. She always ended up thinking, "What's wrong with me? Why are people so mean to me for no reason? I haven't done anything to them. Why do they act this way? Why? Why? Why?" She ended the night usually in tears after this internal debate.
