From The Ashes

I lie broken.

A wreck upon the jagged rocks

Of a love that never was,

Swept aside and forgotten.

Passion dies.

Embers of my desire grow cold,

Smothered by the ashes

Left in place of a broken heart.

Worlds crumble,

Shattered by your departure,

Cracks in my demeanor

Show the devastation left behind.

You are gone,

And again I'm left alone to wander

Through the nothingness

Of what's left of my own little world.

Head held high,

I face the truth of what I've become,

Rising from the ashes

Like a phoenix, I am strong.
