Book: The Gap by AllThingzFictional
Title: 2/3
The title is a good one and does give a unique reflection of the story. However it can have multiple meanings, like when I first read the title, I thought the book was about a "gap" like in distance. But maybe that is what you were going for too.
Cover: 4/5
The cover is simple and not overly done, and I really like the interpretation of the characters on it. But it could be a bit more eye-catching with maybe some color or digital art.
Blurb: 3/3
The blurb is short yet informative. It doesn't give away too much of information about the book but just enough to intrigue you and make you want to read the book.
Grammar, spelling and punctuation: 9/10
A very well done to you! So far I haven't come across any spelling or grammar errors. There was one punctuation error but I've left an inline comment and it can be easily fixed.
Originality and creativity: 3.5/5
The age gap trope is quite a common one but I do like the fact that you have reversed the roles, normally the guy is older but here the girl is older. The story itself is unique in the sense that the male lead really isn't interested in girls despite his good looks and that the two actually hang out casually without rushing into anything.
Diction used: 4/4
Honestly, the diction used is mature, yet perfect. It goes well with the level of maturity needed to read and enjoy the book.
Characters and storyline: 3/5
The main characters have complicated backgrounds (which I honestly love) but I do feel like Veronica's background could have been explained in a bit more detail during the part where she and her brother are in the kitchen having breakfast.
The storyline is developing into something that can be a lot more complicated in the future (their relationship that is) although I wish they would just exchange numbers already *CRI*
Pacing of the story: 3/3
Not too fast, not too slow. The story time-line speeds up and slows down at the perfect times making it enjoyable when reading main events.
Foreshadowing/Plotting: 4/5
Ah I loved how the start of their relationship was actually before the point where the book started! I do predict that he's actually her brothers friend, the "new kid", and if it's so, the plotting is really well thought out, it's always the subtle small details that make an impact later (I'm sorry if I'm wrong 🙈) but I still stand with the fact that the foreshadowing and plotting was well done.
Enjoyment of the story: 3.5/5
Overall the story was really sweet and cute, especially how they just take their relationship slowly and appreciate their time with each other, like living in the moment. This honestly was a good one and I can see how they suit each other given their similar maturity of thinking and interests.
Format and chapter length: 2/2
Total: 41/50
