5 - Lip ring
Appa's office...
I sat in front of my Appa and held my head in my hands, elbows balancing on Appa's desk as he spoke to me, not fully absorbing what he was saying to Jimin and me. I felt a more severe headache coming on and raked my fingers through my open hair to soothe my skull.
This was becoming all too confusing for me.
I began to massage my temples while my Appa finally explained everything, however, it was becoming a little difficult to remain with these two men in the confines of this office.
Appa shifted a little awkwardly, sitting forward as he pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and then spoke to me in a very calm and loving tone:
"My dear, your Halmoni owned the boarding school you attended, she just didn't let everyone know that."
'WHAT?!' I think to myself as I massage my temples.
'This is new!'
My parents have never shared this with me before. Surely it would have made sense for someone to let me know sooner? After all, I did spend nearly half my life there.
But I suppose it made sense in some odd way. I only ever saw my Halmoni at school; and she had rarely bothered to visit me at home nor had she ever come over for holidays, like normal grandmothers tended to do.
"Okay, Appa, do you have any other surprises?" I asked him dryly.
And just like that, with every reason I could think of, I began feeling a little bitter about being kept in the dark for such a long time.
"I wonder what else my dearest grandmother has kept from me!" I snapped and rose up from my seat, marching out of my Appa's office.
Jimin had grinned at my witty sarcasm, but I had ignored him.
He was reclining on the seat next to me before I had stormed off out of the room, his right leg had been folded over his other knee and he had moved to sit forward as if he'd just been told he'd won the lottery. Jimin mimicked my stance to my annoyance while Appa had been talking to us; his elbows were on the desk as well, and he cupped his face adorably, while sitting forwards.
When I had burst out in frustration, Jimin looked from me to his uncle, almost wanting to follow me.
I could sense it.
'Thankfully he'd had the good sense to stay behind.' I think to myself I stomped off out of Appa's office, thinking about Jimin.
I looked up from the spot on the desk I was examining shyly to find an annoying Jimin was watching me. He was still grinning his beautiful smile merrily to himself, just as he would whenever he used to trouble me at school, or tease me about my huge crush on him. Jimin would also tease me about the crush he knew I also used to have on one of his hyungs or on Taehyung.
It's just that I didn't remember his hyungs much. Nor can I put a face to Taehyung. I only remember that they finished school while I was still a junior at the boarding school, and that they made me blush whenever I saw them - even after they had finished school and would come to collect Jimin, Tae and Kookie to take them home for the holidays.
Their hyungs often wore faded jeans and t-shirts with converse sneakers and leather jackets or hoodies and drove an old Chevrolet van, which somehow had made my face feel even more hot!
I am still not sure if I was blushing or if I had a fever...
Shaking my head in disbelief at the idiotic men in my life, I picked my pace up as I marched out down the hallway of Appa's office. But just as I did so, I caught the tail end of what Jimin had said, which made me even more mad at him.
"Uncle, sign me up. I'm ready to marry this charming young lady."
"I'm not that young. I am twenty-one years old today, remember that Park Jimin!" I spun around, marched back into the office, sneering at Jimin then I walked back towards the door and stormed off once more.
I really did not like condescending remarks and I always spoke my mind. Gritting my teeth with annoyance, I walked down the hallway without bowing to my Appa.
I'll call him later to apologise and speak more about this ridiculous situation.

To my relief, Jimin remained in my Appa's office, discussing only God knew what.

Jimin's POV
"Uh... jageunappa (father's younger brother who is married); do you mind if I ask you how this will work?" I looked up curiously at my only paternal uncle.
"Have you ever heard of the mythical epic called the Mahabharath?" My uncle calmly asked, smiling a little at me.
"Ne, it was a set book in school, if I am correct. I remember studying the epic when I took Hindi at school." I shrugged, I knew the epic well. It intrigued me.
"Well, then I am not surprised why Haneul's Halmoni chose you." He smiled knowingly.
I sighed deeply. 'I just hope that we can make this work.'
"Wait..." My eyes widened with understanding.
"Ne, you're her Arjun. Be good to her my boy. Good luck Jimin-ah."

Haneul's POV
5 minutes later...
I had stormed out of my Appa's office, feeling absolutely miserable and confused. Having been completely consumed by my own thoughts, I did not see the tall, dark haired man pass me by. It was just past the office's hallway, at the staircase which led from the 11th floor downstairs, as I walked briskly, with purpose, taking the long way out.
I didn't want to chance getting stuck in the lift with Park Jimin again.
Not now.
Lost in thought, still thinking I'm on solid ground, I turned to let the man pass, only to trip on the first step of the staircase, going down.
So, for the second time on my birthday, a handsome man caught me deftly before I fell over the glass railing to the ground, eleven floors below.
Still mad at the world, all I could think was: 'Why the heck are all the handsome men in Seoul so freaking clumsy today?'
Then I realised that it was actually my fault. My ego was slightly bruised, I realised that I needed to apologise.
"J- j- joesonghamnida (I apologise - formal)." I stammered softly as I turned to face the man.
"Ahhh gwaenchanh-ayo (It's okay) Haneul-ssi." He smiled, brushing off my formal apology with a casual tone.
"H- how do you know my name?" I looked at him more closely.
He knew my name. Come to think of it... He looked familiar too.
'J- Jin- no that's not his name... Argh!' My head began to ache again.
"I ... uh... I heard Maya call you by your name earlier..." He stammered nervously, a blush beginning to form on his cheeks.
I stared at the man incredulously.
'Another one!' I think to myself, rolling my eyes as best as I could with this migraine.
I observed him, just in case I needed to report him... He seemed too suspicious, dressed like a biker but prancing along the hallways of a law firm.
He wore a dark leather jacket, light-blue jeans, black boots. On his right eyebrow, a piercing glimmered in the bright lights of the office building's corridor.
The man had beautiful, full lips which had curled into a charming smile and on the right corner of his bottom lip, I noticed another piercing. He wore a lip ring, which gleamed, reflecting the light as he smiled.
'Is he trying to kill me?' I thought to myself, as my heart pounded in my chest with all these new feelings appearing out of the blue.
I began to feel my cheeks burn up again and I realised he was holding me in a 'hugging' position.
His big strong arms were wrapped around my waist, still keeping me from falling over the glass railing. As I moved, I looked up and met his big, bright, coffee brown eyes.
It reminded me of a nice espresso reflecting a beautiful moonlit night in Itaewon. But before I could make sense of the memory, my head began to ache again.
"Ouch..." I exclaimed.
"Are you hurt, Haneul?" He asked me, sounding so familiar almost as if it was a reflex for him.
That's when I realised that I am yet to thank my saviour.
"Thank you... Errr... I'm sorry I didn't get your name...?" I trailed off, my head aching even more.
"The name's Jeon Jungkook. Always at your service Haneul." He smiled broadly and I noticed he had a cute bunny-like smile; which triggered another memory for me.
I blinked it away quickly, not wanting to give him the wrong impression, as these headaches were sporadic and only began when I had bumped into Jimin for the second time this morning.
I didn't want him to think I'm a weirdo.
Jungkook realised he was still holding on to me and gently moved me to safety before he actually let go of me.
"Jungkook?" I said... tilting my head to the side.
'Why is his name so familiar?' I think privately to myself.
Trying to make more polite conversation, I asked: "Have we met before?"
"Well... Yes. Years ago... at school you were a grade below me." He replied, smiling sheepishly.
"Jimin hyung used to call you Mona the..."
"Argh... say no more!" I exclaimed, mortified by the fact that he remembers the name, covering my ears and shutting my eyes.
Just then, I heard hurried footsteps and looked up to see the one and only...
"Haneul! There you are! Uncle was worried you'd hurried off and had forgotten your handbag and cellphone."
I realised then that I actually didn't have these said items on my person and took them from Jimin as I bowed, thanking him for his trouble.
While Jimin on the other hand, looked at me, then at Jungkook and then back at me.
"Jungkook, do you remember Kim Haneul?"
I cut in, not wanting anyone referring to me by my family name. "Ne, Jungkook-ssi and I were just having a conversation about that... weren't we Jungkook-ssi?" I glanced sideways at Jungkook, grinning up at him, in the hopes he'd get the hint to play along.
However, Jimin noticed my change in behaviour and decided to play along with my little dramatic façade instead.
"Ahhh, Arrasso (I see)... alright. I just thought he was giving you a hard time. Sometimes he forgets this is an office... not a creche." Jimin said narrowing his eyes at Jungkook.
"Relax Jimin hyung. No need for jealousy... we were just talking about how we know each other." Jungkook innocently shrugged.
"Alright..." Jimin shrugged, though his eyes said that he wasn't done with Jungkook just yet. "Haneul, have you eaten yet?" He changed the topic just as suddenly as he appeared.
"Ne, I had seaweed soup now." I shrugged, trying to crab walk my way out of this.
"Yes you did, but a lady like you can't expect to survive only on seaweed soup on her birthday! Let's go out to lunch. It's my treat." He looked at me pointedly, then broke into a big grin.
Although, something about that grin gave me the feeling that he wasn't going to take no for an answer.
Jungkook, who was watching our interaction, with keen interest, looked from Jimin to me with a mixture of shock and realisation.
"Oh yes! Happy birthday Haneul." Jungkook hugged me but Jimin swiftly pulled on my hand and took me away. I walked with him towards the lift doors, but Jungkook followed both me and his Jimin hyung closely behind.
I can't help but suspect Jimin really meant it when he said he wants to marry me...
Now to find out who these other six men were... my future husbands!
Can you believe it?!
~~~♡♡♡~~~
A/n: Okay so she's met Jungkook! Yay!
Let's see who's next to meet Haneul 😄
For those who don't know what a 'creche' is: the closest synonym would be a 'daycare'.
