❝Heavens help me! It’s raining husbands!❞

Haneul
I got up to the sound of my ringtone.
My hand reached across my pillow, feeling around for the source of the sound.
Finally, my fingers closed around my phone. I squinted at the screen, my eyes still a little blurry from sleeping.
“Hello?” I groaned into the device, not bothering to see who it was.
“Haneul! Rise and shine partner!” Kang Seojin’s boisterous voice made me jump.
“Seojin! I’m on leave! Didn’t you see my message?” I pouted, even though I knew my boss wouldn’t mind.
“Yeah, I saw that. You know you can take as much time off as you need. You have a lot of untouched annual leave, especially if you want to go on a honeymoon or something,” he teased.
“So you heard? How do you even know that?!” I grumbled into the receiver.
I got out of bed and headed over to the kitchen to boil the kettle.
“You’re family, and you’re soon to be wed to my side of the family—so I know!” he unhelpfully chuckled.
I paused, holding the phone in my hand for a second. This had to be one of his pranks. I was about to be related to him from my future whoever's side as well?!
Is Jimin related to this crazy person? I barely understand how Sol is married to him. Then again, my cousin matches his vibe.
“Hey Haneul! Congratulations on the engagement!” speak of the devil.
“Thanks, cus,” I smiled, propping the phone between my ear and shoulder as I washed my hands and dried them.
Hearing her voice warmed me up in a strange way. Sol is very affectionate. Her daughter is lucky to have a mother like her.
“Imo! I miss you, can you come back to work soon?” Jia spoke into the receiver.
“Hello my baby! Okay, imo will be back soon. I'm just on leave at the moment, but I'll make you some strawberry cupcakes when I get back, okay?”
I love my niece! She's a little ray of sunshine, just like her parents!
“Enjoy your day Haneul. We just wanted to speak to you since we weren't able to contact you yesterday,” Sol called over the ruckus on her end.
“Thanks Sol, you take care. Gosh what are those two doing in the background?” I held the phone away before they hurt my ear any more!
“You don't want to know! Trust me! Okay, I got to go, Jia has tweezers in her hands now and she's heading for her father's eyebrows!”
I couldn't say goodbye, because I was busy laughing my head off. I cut the call and placed it on the table. Then I walked over to the counter to fetch the container with apple and cinnamon muffins.
It feels like an apple muffin kind of morning. I brewed the tea and was about to head into the bathroom when my phone rang again.
“Hello!” I greeted the caller, feeling a little brighter inside.
“Haneul! Open up, we’re outside.”

Jimin
“What?” Haneul’s confusion was almost amusing.
“Open up sugar, we’re outside your door and there’s a crazy old woman glaring at me.”
“Oh shit! Okay I’m coming,” she cut the call hastily and within a minute the door opened a crack.
“It's really you!” her eyes widened as she peeked out from the side. “And Ken!”
Her gate swung open, granting us access to the kitchen.
Jungkook stood behind me, grinning sheepishly when I looked at him.
Since when does she call him Ken?
What happened between these two last night?
“I’ll explain later,” he mumbled under his breath as he reached out to hug her.
“Good morning my Barbie girl!”
“Good morning!” she hugged him back enthusiastically.
Really, am I missing something here?
“Where's my hug?” I sulked, feeling like I wasn't filled in on something.
“Good morning Chimikins!” she kissed my cheek.
Haneul wasn't dressed yet. But her pink heart pyjamas and matching slippers sure were cute. It was probably the best morning greeting in my life!
“So, before you ask, we’re here to dress you up for the meeting!” I pinched her cheek, then handed her the gift bag in my hand.
“Thanks! But you didn't have to guys. I have stuff to wear.”
“It’s from my uncle… his birthday present to you,” I shrugged.
"Thank you!" she smiled.
Haneul blushed but gestured for us to have a seat around the kitchen table.
“I have tea and muffins, help yourself. Jungkook, you know where everything is, right?” Haneul looked at him with familiarity.
“Most of the things. But I'll find what I need. Thanks for letting me use the kitchen.”
“What's going on?” I blinked, watching my cousin and my future wife.
“Oh, Jungkook was helping me yesterday. So he knows where stuff goes. I need to get ready. I won't be long!”
And just like that, she rushed out through the door leading to her private quarters.
“So, you helped her?” I raised an eyebrow at my very helpful cousin.
“Oh hyung, you know, she made me a mug of tea and I sampled some of her cookies and cakes. Then we watched a movie and by then I was around seven o’ clock so I left.”
He poured us tea and added in milk and sugar like it was his flat, not Haneul's.
“Dude, you look like you’ve lived here forever.”
He shrugged, then slid the mug over to me.
“Okay, so we talked a lot. And I just feel like we have this deeper connection,” he murmured softly.
I'm so stupid. No, dense!
They had more common ground than any of us had with her! Their parents—
“I'm sorry Kookie. I forgot about the parent thing.”
“It’s alright. But in a way, hyung, I feel like we bonded. And you should see the way she seemed almost normal—like she was in high school!”
Wow! I guess that's the power of love, right?
We just took our first bite of apple muffins when Haneul waltz back into the kitchen, looking fresher than a daisy.
“How do I look?” she gestured at the garment she wore.
“Gorgeous! I think you'll knock our other cousins dead!” I smirked.
“You guys are all related?” she blinked.
“Yeah, Jimin’s mother, mine Jin’s and Hobi’s are sisters. Well, she was, in my case,” Jungkook shrugged.
“Yeah and our uncle’s son is Yoongi,” I added. “But obviously not Jageunappa. Although, hyung works with him.”
I studied her expression. Nothing out of the ordinary. The names seemed foreign as ever to her. We could only hope for better after today.
“By the way Haneul,” I held her hand, “this is delicious!”
“Thank you!” she smiled, then reached across the table for a mug and the teapot.

Jungkook got busy on call with a client of his, leaving Haneul and I alone in the kitchen.
“So, do you want to try some of these?” she asked, holding out a tin of chocolate biscuits.
I took one, and immediately my mood lifted. I could see why Jungkook had bonded with her. It's not the food or the history. It's her warm personality that makes you fall in love with her.
All over again.
“This is amazing! And you added real chocolate!” I blinked, I think I could see heaven in front of me.
“Thanks! And yeah it just tastes better.”
“It does!” I smiled at her. “Hey, Haneul,” I said, a beat later.
“Aha?” she looked at me over her mug of tea.
“You're amazing. I really missed you,” I felt heat creep up my neck.
“I missed you too, Jimin,” she reached out and ruffled my hair.
“I need to brush my hair, I mean, you’re introducing me to everyone else in your family. So I should look more presentable, right?”
“Just my cousins, and the two owners of the firm, but yeah I get you,” I nodded, getting up to place the mug in the sink and wash my hands.
Haneul handed me a beige towel to dry my hands. Her fingers brushed over mine and she blushed, looking away.
“Guys, we need to leave in the next ten minutes. It's urgent,” Jungkook’s big eyes were wide with worry.
“What happened?” Haneul and I asked in unison.
“The will is missing.”
