(Also a quick A/N! This chapter will focus on the older version of Baldi's basics including 1st prize. It will not included any of the newer updates. I'll probably make a chapter of that later in the future. Btw, this chapter is long omg. But to be honest, I think I'll be making longer ones in the future :p. Anyways, on with the chapter!)

"Welp! We'll be back!!" Bendy said, leading Monika outside.

"See you later losers!" Flowey shouted at the two.

"Flowey! Be nice!" Freddy rebuked.

"Keep dreaming bear!" The flower shouted back.

"Ok so recap. We're going to the neighbor's friend's schoolhouse to do his "task" after ya volunteered and now I'm coming along with ya for the ride."

Monika nodded. "That seems about right."

"And the "task" was too, what? Collect 7 seven notebooks and answer math problems?"

The girl nodded once more.

The little demon sighed. "This is gonna be a long day."

"Don't worry. I'm sure it's nothing too difficult."

They continued to walk for a few minutes, before coming upon a white brick one story building. It looked almost peaceful, yet it doesn't really show much excitement from the front.

Monika looked at the written address the neighbor has given her.

"This must be it." She said, looking up at the building in front of them.

Bendy grabbed the door knob. It creaked loudly as it opened. The two stepped inside, only to find a tall skinny man with a big baggy green sweater and blue skinny jeans. He also had a single strand of hair poking out on time of his head, for some reason.

He smiled when Bendy and Monika entered the building.

"Oh hi welcome to my school house!" He said, giving a friendly wave.

"Uh hi. The neighbor sent us...?" Bendy asked. His words kind of trailing off at the end.

"Yes he did! He explained everything to you two I'm guessing?"

"Uhh yeah."

"Fantastic! You two can follow me into the classroom when your ready!"

"Oh wait! What's your name?" Bendy asked.

The man turned to him before he can enter the room.

"The name's Baldi!" He said. A big cheery smile was on his face as he entered the classroom.

Bendy and Monika stood there for a few moments.

"....well..he seems...nice" Bendy committed, hesitantly.

Monika bent down to Bendy's level.

"If you ask me, he seems like a pedophile." She whispered. She already had the feeling that she couldn't trust him.

"Uuhhh yeaahhh..maybe.."

Bendy paused, an idea struck him and he tried to contain his laughter.

"Bendy? What's wrong?" Monika asked.

"Ya know what he really looks like?"

"What?"

Bendy took a moment to contain himself before answering.

"Half of a used q-tip."

Monika stared at him for a spit second before snorting out a laugh.

"He very much does." She said, rising to her normal size.

"But we should just get this over and done with." The demon added.

Monika most definitely agreed with that idea.

They began walking towards the door that Baldi, when Bendy's eyes caught something on the wall. It was a poster of the school rules. He started reading it.

"School Rules!
When you follow school rules:
No running
No entering school faculty
No bullying
No drinking
No escape detention
No..forth....wall breaks...?" His words trailed off from confusion.

Monika's eyes looked away.

"No forth wall breaks.." Bendy repeated, putting his thumb on his chin.

"Monika. Do ya know what this means?"

She looked at Bendy, eyes full of slight uneasiness.

She shrugged. "Um I..don't know either.."

"Mmmm....that's weird." He said to himself, looking back at the rules.

"Uh..maybe we should get going now Bendy. Baldi is waiting for us."

Bendy took one more glance at the poster and nodded, following Monika into the room.

The classroom was filled with student desks that were a-lined perfectly in roses. At the front of the room, Baldi was waiting, leaning against the teacher desk. The two sat parallel from each other in the student desks as Baldi began to give them a green iPad looking device. A "You can think pad" was written on top. Bendy and Monika assumed this was where they would do most of the work. Baldi spoke up.

"Now it's time for everyone's favorite subject: MATH!!"

Woo-hoo.

Bendy and Monika looked down at their digital pads, seeing that three questions had appeared on the screen.

"Answer the three questions correctly and you might get something special!" The man cheerfully continued.

Monika slightly turned her head towards Bendy's direction, giving him a face that says "I told you, I freaking told you!". Judging it was probably from that last thing the man said, Bendy just shook his head slightly, implying that Monika shouldn't assume such things..yet.

"Problem 1:
1+4=.."

....

Uh...what?

The little devil smirked a little.

'This doesn't seem hard.' He thought.

Nonetheless, they both answered correctly. A green check mark appeared on the first box. Baldi looked pleased.

"Great job!" He complimented.

"Problem 2:
3+2=.."

Once again they answered correctly.

"Good one!" The man smiled brightly.

"Problem 3:
2+6=.."

They wasted no time in answering this one.

"I can't believe it! You're incredible!" Baldi complemented.

Bendy and Monika was about to look up from the pad, when text showed up on the screen. It read:

Wow! You existed!

They both paused. The two looked up from the pads to look at each other, quite puzzled from what that could mean, but when they rose their heads up, Baldi wasn't standing where he usual was.

They frantically looked around the room, until they heard his voice outside of the room.

"You did great! Come here and get you're prize: A shiny quarter!"

They looked at each other once again.

How did he move so fast and without them hearing anything?

Bendy and Monika got up reluctantly, walking out of the classroom to find none other than Baldi. He was holding a quarter in his outstretched hand, gesturing for one of them to take it.

Hesitantly, Bendy volunteered as he walked to the man and took the quarter.

The same process happened again in the next classroom. The two began to answer the weirdly easy questions and it didn't seem like a big deal, even if they had to do this all day.

Until they got to the third question..

"You're going great!" Another excited complement came from the green sweatered man. The little devil smiled.

"Problem 3:

The sudden static from his voice made them jump. Their eyes widen as they sat there, bewildered at what the hell he just said or at least, tried to say.

The two of them looked down at the question again. How do you even solve this?!

Bendy thought for a moment.

'You can never go wrong with zero' He told himself.

He entered his answer.

This time, a red x appeared over the small box, indicating that he got the question wrong.

Text once again appeared on the screen. It read:

I hear every door you open.

Bendy was at loss for words. He just sat there, feeling kinda freaked out and confused from just happened. He looked up to see Monika, she too was a bit shocked and confused. And when they turned to face Baldi, he was gone again.

And the whole place became an eerily silence.

A loud smack was heard from outside of the room, making the two jump in their seats.

They looked at each other and got up to see what was making that noise. Once they were out, through the bright yellow double doors was Baldi coming straight towards them, with a ruler in his dominant hand. He was smacking his left with it, as if he was fully ready for what he was about to do with it. Though, he was moving kind of slow and this gave the two some time to run.

Bendy and Monika rushed to the main entrance, only to find that the door wouldn't open no matter how hard they tried.

"*Quack!*"  Bendy said with his attachment to swear.

Then he remembered..

"That's right..our "task" of finding 7 notebooks.."

He looked up towards Monika.

"We can't leave until we find all of them"

The girl stood there in thought, then looked down at the smaller demon with an almost serious expression and nodded.

The smacking drew nearer, alerting them that they should get going. They made their way through another pair of yellow doors to the right.

"Why does he even have a ruler with him?" Monika asked, a serious tone was held in her voice.

Bendy looked up at the girl.

"I bet he also uses it on his students." She continued.

"Abusive much?" Bendy said.

"Seems like it.."

Just then, they heard whistling from somewhere, eliminating the silence for only a few moments. The two didn't know where that whistling was coming from, they thought Baldi was the only here at the school. But they might be wrong.

They came upon a classroom door, hoping the 2nd notebook was in there, they opened it. To their relief, there was a notebook on the teachers desk. Bendy volunteered to answer the questions, getting the first two right. Until, of course, he got to the last one.

"How do ya even answer this?!" He exclaimed.

"Just put in a random answer." Monika suggested.

He did just that and got it wrong. New text appeared on the screen:

I get angrier for each problem you get wrong.

That just made the little devil feel annoyed. I mean, this is a schoolhouse and he's a teacher, teaching kids math and they can't get problems wrong, even when they don't know how to solve it?! It didn't make any sense at all and it was pretty unfair if you'd ask anyone.

"This guy has issues." Bendy commented.

"Tell me about it. But we should get going Bendy!"

The demon nodded, heading out the door.

"GOTTA SWEEP SWEEP SWEEP!!!"

They both jumped when they heard an ear piercing voice from down the hall. Was it a......a...giant broom??

The two looked at each other in awe, then reluctantly kept moving.

A few minutes in searching and they've thankful found another notebook, with the same outcomes as before. Once they came out, Bendy fell backwards after coming face to face with a crazy looking little girl. She pulled out a jump rope and said:

"LET'S PLAY!" With a big smile, only a excited little girl can have.

They heard the smacking of Baldi's ruler come closer. They had to hurry. This time, Monika volunteered to jump rope. The little girl counted up to 5 with every frantic success jump. She thankfully let them go in time, just when Baldi was down the hall, looking madder then ever and he seemed to be moving faster as well.

Bendy and Monika took off to the left, trying to get away from the man as far as they could. They began to slow their jog into more of a speed walk, catching a bit of their breath in the process.

"You know Bendy...I think I might have an idea to lighten the mood" Monika said, still trying to catch her breath.

"Uh....like what?"

"I should sing!" Monika said excitedly.

Bendy slowed down his walking and looked up at the girl. His face contorted into a mixture of confusion and disgust for what Monika had just suggested. It wasn't that he didn't want her to sing, but it most certainly wasn't the best time for it.

"...........WHAT?!!" He exclaimed in disbelief.

"I think it would a perfect time to sing." The girl smiled.

"Monika. Right now is the exact opposite of a perfect time to sing!!"

"And that's why I must!"

They both heard a certain smack draw near and began to move faster away from it.

"And besides", Monika continued, "it could even make the scenes in our chapter go by faster!"

Bendy tilted his head. "Uhh Monika, what do ya m-"

He was interrupted by the sudden noise of music that practically can out of no where.

"Oh look and there's the music!" The girl gestured her pointer finger up above.

Bendy tiredly and anxiously groaned.

"Monika no."

"Monika yes!!"

"Every day I go to a school that likes to help with learning
One two threes, they're the keys,
Basic math, Very easy!
To Baldi's world of fun where no one leaves till' educated
Every door is locked up tight, stay inside,
Till' we're graded"

Sooner or later, they came upon another room with the 4th notebook. Bendy attempted to answer the questions. Monika, however, continued to sing.

"The students try their best to
Better their education
Comprehend the material
Study hard, relay every detail"

They began to exit the classroom, getting the last question wrong, again.

"Nobody wants detention
We only want attention"

Until they heard Baldi's ruler from right around the corner and this time, he's gotten more faster.

"Even when life is tough
Oddly quarters are enough"

Bendy immediately grabbed Monika's hand as they ran in the other direction. Monika continued to sing some more.

"This Is how we live our lives searching
For the answers inside of every page
And i'm here wondering if one day
We'll finally be free from this cage
Is it okay to have a feeling
Maybe there is more to this game"

"No running in the halls." They heard a voice say from behind. Bendy looked behind him and saw a man coming straight towards them. He grabbed a hold of their arms.

"However now no time to question
So just behave"

Monika sang that last part before the song before it went into instrumental. The man dragged the two to the detention room so fast, he seemed like he just teleported.

"15 seconds, detention for you. You should know better." And then he left.

Bendy waited for the timer to end. Monika took a moment to look at all of the pictures in the room, while enjoying the instrumental. She smiled and nodded her head to the beat as she read all of their names and bios.

"Ugh! Hurry up timer!" Bendy tapped his foot impatiently.

"Hmmm..Playtime, it's a Bully, Principal of the Thing, 1st Prize, Gotta Sweep, Arts and Crafts and last but not least, Baldi."

Bendy looked over to Monika, confused from what the girl was trying to say.

"I guess that's all of their names." She stated.

Just then, the timer went off and a familiar smacking was heard nearby.

"Come on Monika!" He grabbed her hand again as they ran out of there.

"And I'm back to singing again!"

She cleared her throat.

"Looking across the hallways
Finding notebooks, so we enter
Follow every single rule or
He'll take out his wooden ruler
For he is listening and watching everyones progression
All mistakes have consequences
So answer right with every question"

They obtained the 5th notebook. Baldi however, became faster with every problem they were getting wrong. His speed of walking would soon turn into a full on run. They both ran from their position before Baldi could get to them, making sure the principal wasn't around to scold them into detention.

"Try to add up excuses
Nothing will make a diffrence
Baldi knows every door that we open
Following from behind we can hear him
There is no place for playtime
Avoid them all from every side
Better to leave them be
Follow his philosophy

This is how we live our lives searching
For the answers inside of every page
And i'm here wondering if one day
We'll finally be free from this cage
Is it okay to have a feeling that
Maybe there is more to this game
However now just keep behaving"

Bendy and Monika continued to find and collect the rest of the notebooks. Luckily, they didn't have much left to find, but things began to become even harder than before. Dealing with bullies that block the way and stole things, little girls wanting to play jumprope one too many times, science fair projects needing hugs, principals giving longer detentions for numerous reasons, and giant brooms sweeping around the hallways. One of the times, Monika lost Bendy for a second and began frantically looking for him, only to find him on the sweeping broom, screaming.

"Sweep through the halls
To escape we'll have some sacrifices
No room for jealousy
I've got no time to play hide and seek
'Cause eventually he'll surely find me
Have to be brave, or better
Keep behaving"

Bendy was just about done with this school and he wanted to do nothing but leave. Thankfully, after feeling like they've spend an eternity there, they've finally gotten the 7th notebook. Relieved, Bendy felt more confident to just walk out and never come back, till a voice came on the speakers. It sounded like Baldi.

"Congratulations! You found all 7 notebooks!

Now all you need to do is...

GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!"

A short laugh was heard after that and the speakers turned off. The sounds of smacking from a ruler started to intensify as it got closer with every second. Bendy grabbed Monika's hand and raced out of there, only to find a horribly discovery. Baldi had stopped his speed walking and began to instead run in their direction. The little demon's eyes widen, running as fast as he could in the other direction, pulling Monika along, still singing.

"Count till I don't know what counts
Every inch of here is all that's in pain
Can't understand, whats the solution?
Because, color is a mess in my play
I push around with all the pressure
To be here where I know where to stay"

They ran faster than they've ever before, though they still were cautious about the principle and the other nuisances around the school. Eventually, Bendy spotted something that made his spirits sore.

"The exit!!" He examined.

He reached out his hand for the knob, when it suddenly disappeared and the whole school turned red.

"No NO! WHERE'S THE EXIT?!"

Monika looked at the wall. A serious, yet focused look appeared on her face.

"Bendy, this way!" She said grabbing the little devil's hand.

She lead the way this time, looking for any exit she could find. Somehow though, she seemed much more calmer than Bendy, despite the current situation they were in.

It didn't take long before they found another exit, but before they could go through it, it disappeared and a wall appeared again. The girl rushed to the next exit, only for the same thing to happen. There only exit now is the one in the cafeteria. The two wasted no time to start heading there.

Both of them were only a hallway away from getting to salvation. A sense of hope washed over them both as they got closer with every step. Down the hallway, Monika spotted something. It looked like sock puppet with it's mouth was agape. The girl then realized who that was and her eyes widen. It came towards them and next thing they knew, Baldi was only a few feet away.

"Nnnnoooo!!" Bendy screamed. Monika had no time to think.

So she did only what she had to.

Just when Baldi was a feet apart from them, Monika grabbed Bendy and the world just.....stopped.

Everything was frozen, like time had just stopped. Bewildered, Baldi tried to move but failed and yet, he was aware of everything that was going on, but he didn't know why or how. He looked at the two in front of him, seeing Bendy frozen in time with everything else and completely unaware of what was happening.

And Monika......she slowly turned her head back at the frozen-in-place man behind her...with a look only someone with so much hatred in them could have.

The next thing Baldi saw were glitches. Nothing but glitches appear on and around the girl. And that the last thing he saw of them. Time had come back to normal and Baldi stopped in his place for the first time in the chase. Both Bendy and Monika were gone.

The man stood there, his ruler still in his dominant hand, completely shocked and disarrayed from what he just saw.

Bendy felt like he had only blinked before he was no longer face to face with Baldi. He was completely baffled.

"Wait wha-"

"Bendy look! There's the exit!!" Monika pointed to the final door, leading to outside.

The little devil noticed this and ignored everything that just happened, not hesitating to stop for anything. Monika smiled as she sang her last lyrics of her song.

"There's gotta be some sort of exit
To get away"

The door opened as sunlight shined down on their faces. They were free.

The door closed by itself and Bendy collapsed to the ground, while Monika took some time to enjoy the final instrumental to the song.

When it was over, she breathed a sigh of relief and gained back another smile.

"See Bendy? Wasn't that-Bendy?"

Monika looked down to see Bendy, face first in the grass, not moving an inch.

"Bendy? BENDY?" Monika shook the smaller cartoon lightly. He groaned in response.

Monika sighed in relief once more.

"Uh Bendy..will you be ok to walk home?" The girl asked, seeing the full view of Bendy's state.

He groaned again as he sat up. "Yeah I'll be fine" Bendy said weakly.

"All I'm saying is that I'm never going back in there again."

"Yeah...me too.." Monika added.

The girl thought for a second.

"Hey Bendy.."

"Mhm?"

"Did...did the neighbor know about anything of what just happened?"

Bendy's eyes widened for a second before they relaxed again.

"Actually..I'm not sure."

".......I see...."

Silence filled the air. Either of them didn't know what to say, well, it was more like Bendy didn't know what to say. Monika was more lost in her own thoughts about...something. The little devil didn't know what to do, so he sat on the grass for a couple more minutes.

The girl suddenly gained her cheery smile back and spoke, taking away the silence that surrounded them.

Bendy looked up at her and nodded, getting up and dusting himself off.

"Oh and Bendy!"

"Yeah Monika?"

"I'll talk to the neighbor. You don't need to worry one bit." She smiled widely.
