Chapter 29: Flashbacks
And we're back!! With "Season 2"!!
Art by me!
————————————
Winter is over. The snow and cold has come and gone and so has a friend. But this friend will visit again. She and Kris has promised to actually keep in touch more from now on, since she sadly had to return to her hometown.
Spring however, has sprung once more. No one could believe that it's been a year now since they've all been together.
And on this dark and gloomy spring day, a certain someone was searching for his music box in his room. He thought the sound of it would cheer up the gloominess of today.
He looked in his dresser, under his bed, but it was nowhere to be seen.
"Hey M-Mae, have you s-seen my music box?" Kris asked his shorter cat friend, who was currently sitting on her bed, and playing a game on her laptop.
"Nope, I haven't seen it sorry." She said, not taking her eyes off the screen as she was concentrated on her game.
Kris sighed to himself as he stood there in thought.
'Maybe I left it downstairs..'
He made his way out of the room and walked downstairs, immediately bumping into Madotsuki.
"O-oh sorry Maddy!"
"No no it's ok!" She said waving her hand in reassurance.
"H-hey, b-by any chance, have y-you seen my music box a-anywhere?"
Maddy thought for moment, wondering if she recalled it somewhere, but came up with nothing.
"No I'm sorry, I haven't seen-"
Just then they heard playing nearby. A sweet yet calm melody.
"You hear that?" Madotsuki asked Kris who nodded.
They both followed the sound and found that it was coming from Six and Maddy's room. She opened the door and found Six sitting on the floor with the music box, as it played its wonderful melody.
"Six! Give Kris back his music box!"
Six only looked up from the music box beside her to see Kris and Maddy look down at her and looked back towards the melody again, ignoring the two.
Kris stood there not knowing what to do. Madotsuki huffed.
"Guess we're doing this the hard way.."
As Six picks up the music box and begins to crank it again, Maddy suddenly tackles her, pinning her to the floor and dropping the music box out her hands. Luckily, it didn't break.
"I got her! Grab it! Grab it and run!" Madotsuki yells as Six tries to fight back against her.
Kris runs and grabs the music box from the floor before running out of the room and back upstairs. Madotsuki let's out a sigh of relief and looks down and Six, who she still has pinned down.
"Why the heck did you take his music box Six? You could of just asked!"
Six said nothing and looked away from the girl. Maddy sighed again, letting her go as they both sat up from the floor. Six continued to look away from Maddy.
"Are you going to tell me why you stole Kris' music box or what?" Six just remained silent, still not sparing a glance at the other.
"Fine. You don't have to tell me. Just make sure you ask next time please." Madotsuki said, getting up from the floor and walking out.
Silence covered the whole room, but not Six's mind.
Familiar memories lingered in her mind once again.
Music box...
Friends...
Teamwork...
Running...
Thunder was suddenly heard in the distance along with the sound of heavy rain hitting the window.
Raining...
Raincoats...
Paper bags...
Six shook her head from that last thought and got up from the floor.
Memories was always something Six never wanted to deal with nor recall, good or bad, and yet, no matter what, they've always seem to come back to her.
It's almost like they're trying to tell her something or...maybe warn her about something.

Later that day:
Lights were off. Comfy pjs on. Maybe some comforting blankets. And the spring thunderstorm that continues into the night. All perfect for telling scary stories.
They've all made room in the living room to gather around in a circle, with only candles being their only source of light.
Bendy was the first to tell his scary story. It was about Disney, which wasn't surprising all of them, but in his story, it contained something called "The Disney Mirror Ritual", which might sound ridiculous, but the way he was telling it did caught everyone's full attention. Needless to say, the story was pretty spooky and Bendy seemed like a good storyteller.
Once the story was over, some sighed loudly in relief. The story had a lot to take in.
"Has anyone actually done the ritual?" Sal asked, his blue hair in bun. Bendy shrugged.
"Not sure. It's just a legend I heard about online."
"I bet there other spooky things like that at Disney." Madotsuki thought out loud.
"I bet ya that too. The RAT ain't "perfect" no matter how hard he tries to be."
Bendy sighs. "So..who's going next?"
There was few conversions over each other, until they came in an agreement.
"Ok Mugs, go next." He nodded.
"Ok ok I'll start...
It was late and a boy was sleeping in his bed. Then came a knock at his door. He groaned and ask "Yes?" A voice came from the other side. It was his little brother. "Can I sleep with you tonight? I had a nightmare." The boy sighed to himself tiredly but answered "Sure, come in." He heard the door to his room open and close in the dark. And his little brother climbed into bed next to him. "Goodnight." The boy said, but there was no response back. The boy just assumed his little brother had already fallen asleep and went back to sleep himself. A few minutes later, there was a knock at the boy's door. He woke up again, slightly annoyed. It probably was his mother. He asked tiredly "Yes?".....and his little brother's voice was from the other side of the door. "Can I sleep with you tonight? I had a nightmare."
"OH NO MUGS! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO TELL THAT?!!" Cuphead scolded at his brother, for he was now scared thanks to him. His brother only chuckled to himself at this.
"I would of said "Ah hell naw, you goin back to bed kid!" Mae joked, making just about everyone chuckle.
"T-That was good though. I-I liked that." Kris said.
"Yeah, it was short but spooked me a little." Fran said.
"Can I go next?" Madotsuki asked.
"Sure thing Madds." Mugs responded.
Madotsuki cleared her throat.
"A man had just moved into his new home only a few days ago. But ever since he's lived there, he's felt like strange things had been happening to him. Like when he's watching tv, he would feel someone behind him. Or when he would walk into another room, he would feel like someone was there with him, only to find out that no one was there. One day, he was washing his dishes and saw a reflection in the spoon he was cleaning. It was his grandma. She had died four years ago. The man continued to look into the reflection to see that his grandma was pointing to the right of her. The man turned around...and saw nothing. It's probably his eyes playing tricks on him.
That same night, he had a horrible dream. The man was in an alley way and this woman was pointing to this big house in the distance. Her face was covered with shadows but you can still she the out lines of her eyes. She was trying to convince him to follow her, but the man just stood there. In his head, he hear his grandma's voice: "Leave! Get out! Run away!" The man started to back away from the woman, until she lunged at him...until he woke up in his bed. He sighed, relieved that it was only a dream. Until the woman lunged at him again. The man struggled to get her off of him. 'This can't be real! This can't be real! This can't happening!' He thought to himself. He finally got the woman off of him and threw her at his furniture. She laid there for a few seconds before getting up. Winked. And then disappeared from her stomach out. The same day, the man got crucifixes and placed them around his house. And the women never came back. And the man understood, from that same day, what his grandma was trying to warn him about."
"Welp! It's official. I'm not sleeping tonight." Cuphead dramatically said, throwing his blanket over his shoulders and wrapping himself with it tightly. Tattletail snuggled along with him.
"It's just a story Cups." Bendy reassured him.
"That was really spooky Maddy." The neighbor said.
"I honestly won't know how to handle being in that situation." Monika added, chuckling a little to herself.
"Same.." Sal said.
Kris smiled slightly at the group as they continued their conversation. Yet he realized that Flowey wasn't talking a lot. He usually would be in these situations and right now, it looked like he was kind of out of it.
"Flowey..a-are you ok? Y-you haven't been talking a lot." Kris asked the flower that was in his lap.
Flowey finally broke from his trance and looked up at the boy.
"Yeah..yeah I'm fine."
Kris didn't really expect such a short answer, but he didn't push him. He'll probably ask him later about it.
"Does everyone mind if I go next?" Freddy asked.
They all agreed and Freddy got himself adjusted for the story he was about to tell.
"Ok..Get comfy everyone. This might be long story." He said before starting.
"It was a bright and sunny Friday. Only a day before a boy named Gabriel turned 10 years old. He sat at the dinner table, eating dinner with his mother. He couldn't wait for tomorrow, for he knew, it was going to be one of his best birthdays ever. But there was one thing that still bothered Gabriel. One of his friends had gone missing a week ago and there was still no news about her disappearance. The last time she was seen was at the place Gab was going tomorrow. Gabriel's mother realized her son's constant worry when she noticed the look on her son's face.
"Honey..don't worry Charlie." His mother said. "I'm sure they'll find her soon, you'll see." Gabriel smiled at his mother's reassuring words and thanked her.
The next day, for Gabriel's special day, his mother had planned to take him and his friends to the new and improved family diner that had just opened only a few weeks ago. The boy was ecstatic as soon as he saw the big fun sign that hanged above the restaurant. They all got inside and the kids were immediately running to all of the games and play areas, laughing and completing with each other to see who came get higher scores.
A few minutes later, Gabriel's mother called the children for lunch. The kids sat at their booth and began to eat their pizza. The pizza...wasn't the best, but the group of friends still sat and talked while eating what they can.
"You know, I bet I could make pizza better than this." Gabriel said with a bit of confidence in his voice. His friend Fritz snickered. "I couldn't see you making pizza or anything that deals with food." He said. "If anything, I would see you singing better." Gabriel rolled his eyes playfully. "I'm not that good. I just like to sing along to my favorite songs like anyone else would." "But you sing so well!" Susie added. "You should definitely use that for something bigger when you get older." Gabriel smiled shyly. "I'm not sure about that. We'll just have to see what happens in the future."
"By the way." Jeremy said suddenly. "Where's your mom?" The boy asked Gabriel. "She said she was gonna go do something really quick. Come on we should go finish playing before cake." And so the kids got up from their seats and began playing again.
Suddenly, a microphone was turned on, grabbing everyone's including the four friend's attention. A man in a yellow rabbit suit with a purple bow tie began to speak on the little stage. "Welcome everyone to my new family diner! Today we have a special guest who will be performing with us! A birthday boy who is turning 10 today! Let's give it up for Gabriel!" The rabbit turned to Gabriel as he and everyone clapped. The boy could feel his whole boy tense up and freeze from nervousness. He looked at his mother, who was now sitting at the booth with a big smile on her face. Gabriel huffed annoyingly, his face growing red.
'Of course it was my mom who did this.' He thought. 'Only she would make things like this happen just for me.' The three friends smiled at Gabriel. "Now you can show off your amazing singing voice to everyone!" Susie said excitedly. Gabriel sighed deeply. In the end he figured, why the heck not. Maybe this would be a good idea after all. The boy went stage and was handed the microphone. He nervously began singing, but soon found himself feeling more confident. When he was done, everyone clapped. Gabriel smiled to himself. This really was the best day of his life."
Everyone in the living room remained quiet as they continued to listen to the story Freddy was telling.
"A few minutes later, Gabriel and his friends were continuing their games and playing around, till the man with the yellow rabbit suit came over. "That was some performance you put on today." The man said to Gabriel. "Oh thank you sir." "You know; we also have the special arcade in the back." Gabriel's brows furrowed in confusion. "We..have an arcade in the back?" "It's only for the special guests who have birthdays here like you." The main said. "Ok. Well..can my friends come too?" "Of course! The more the merrier!" Fritz, Susie, and Jeremy all looked at Gabriel. "We're having cake in a few minutes Gab." Jeremy said. "It'll only be for a little bit. We can just come back here when it's time." Gabriel reassured his friends.
They took his advice and followed the rabbit man to a room in the back of the restaurant. Only when they got inside, there were no games. Strange.
The kids, confused, turned to face the rabbit man, but when they did, he was taking off his rabbit head, along with the rest of the costume. "What-" Was all Gabriel said before he saw what interrupted him. A knife.
The man took the weapon out of his suit and dust it a bit. "Alright." He slightly huffed. "Let's get this over with."
The four kids froze in fear, unable to move and without warning, the man went for Susie first. Then Fritz. Then Jeremy. Then finally, Gabriel backed up to the wall.
The boy knew now where his friend had gone. This man did what he had done to the rest of his friends and probably took her. That's probably why she was never found.
Gabriel cried and trembled, as the man stepped closer to him. He whispered in his ear: "Happy Birthday kid." Before everyone turned dark.
Minutes later, Gabriel's mother called for the kids, but they never came. She searched for them around the restaurant, even asking people and staff, but she never found them. Soon, the police arrived and they did a sweep around the whole building, but found nothing. They even asked the rabbit man about anything relating to their disappearance, but came to no leads. The place was shut down and kids bodies were never found.
A few years later, they had opened a new restaurant, one that was dedicated to the kids that went missing. The place was bigger and better and surprisingly, it attracted more customers. It soon became of the best places for a child to enjoy and play."
Silence filled the group for moment, before sighs came out from almost everyone. They weren't excepting a story like that from Fred.
"Who-WEE!" Mugman exclaimed.
"Geez.." Bendy muffled.
"I didn't say I was done guys." Freddy spoke up.
Everyone snapped back to Freddy's attention and listened up. Freddy approved of this and began again.
"Gabriel's eyes opened slowly-"
"Wait WHAT?!" Spooky exclaimed loudly. Freddy smirked and shushed her. Either way, everyone was having the same reaction as Spooky in their heads.
"Gabriel's eyes opened slowly to sound of someone calling his name. It sounded like Fritz. His eyes opened and he saw what we're supposedly his friends. Fritz, Susie, and Jeremy. All three of them looked at Gabriel with sadden and shocked looks on their faces.
"Guys? Is that you?!" Gabriel asked. "Yes it's us! What happened?! How are we still here?!" Susie said. Her voice sounded worried in concern. "What are you guys talking about?" "We were gone for so long, but why are we not dead?" Don't you remember Gab?" Jeremy asked, in the same worried tone as Susie's. Gabriel took a moment to remember everything that happened. Then he finally remembered. "I...I remember now..but..why do you guys look so weird?"
Fritz's expression turned into a very sad one, as if he didn't want to say what he was about to say next.
"Gabriel...have you not noticed or even looked at yourself? We're not the only ones who look weird. You're an animatronic bear."
Cuphead: "OH MY GOD! OH MY FUCKING GOD!!" The cup exclaimed loudly as he got up from the floor and walked away for a moment to collect himself.
Mae: "DUDDDDEEE OH MY GOD!!!"
Spooky: "WWWWAAAAAIIITTTTT!!"
Madotsuki: "BRO THAT ENDING!!"
Monika: "Oh..my god..."
Sal: "DUUUUUDDDDDDEEE!!!"
Hat kid/ Tattletail/ Follower: (:O
Fran bow: "Wait..HOLD ON-"
Neighbor: "Oh-God.."
Kris: Oh my God..."
In a nutshell, everyone was going crazy over this new information in someway. That included Flowey. Just like everyone else in the room, he was trying to find a way to process all the information that was given to him.
"So wait..." Kris started to say as he finally composed him.
"F-Freddy you-" He stopped himself from speaking any further.
Everyone and stopped themselves and looked at the bear as well, not knowing what to say. He chuckled to himself.
"I..thought that'd be a nice story for this occasion."
"Yeah but...Fred.." Bendy said. The bear only smirked slightly.
"I've told that story to..many others before..and I figured that one would a good one to tell for this."
There was a few seconds of silence from everyone.
"So...are you actually...a.." Fran started to say.
"What do you think?" Freddy looked at her and everyone else.
No one said a word.
"And even if it were true, would you think of differently of me?" He continued.
More silence.
"I wouldn't.." Kris spoke up, grabbing his attention of everyone.
"Me neither." Bendy smiled. Everyone else soon followed behind..except Flowey, who's head remained low. Nonetheless, Freddy smiled to himself and thanked everyone.
"What about the others?" The neighbor questioned hesitantly.
"They're still around, like how I am, but who knows..you might meet them one day...you might even meet her."
"Her?" Sal asked. Fred smirked.
"The one who brought me and my friends back.." Everyone gasped.
"And...who's that?" Cuphead asked.
"I think I'll tell you all another day about more of my past." Freddy grinned more.
No one else knew what to say.
"BUT..I want to hear more stories! Who's going next?" Freddy clapped his hands together, eager to just enjoy more storytelling. He kind of wanted to move away from the discussion and not dawdle on something that could possibly break the atmosphere.
Kris looked down at Flowey and called out to him again. He jumped slightly looking up back at Kris.
"What?" He asked.
"Oh that's a great idea! Flowey you go next!" Spooky said.
"What?!"
"You haven't said ANYTHING for the past hour." Ayano mentioned.
"Do you have a spooky story to tell?" Mugman asked.
Flowey looked around at everyone before sighing to himself.
"I-" He hesitated for a moment.
"I..guess I have a story...but it isn't a scary one."
"Still tell it! I wanna hear it!" Mae said excitedly as Hat kid nodded with the same energy. Flowey wasn't usually the one to tell any type of stories right off the bat or talk about any stories for that matter.
The flower sighed again.
"Sure...why not.." This made everyone listen up and get themselves ready for the story. Kris too, listened closely as Flowey began his tale.
"Once upon a time,
There lived a lonely prince, in a big lonely castle
Every night, he hoped and dreamed that someone would take away his loneliness forever
And one day, his prayers had come true
A kind and handsome young knight had come across the lonely prince
With each passing hour, the prince and knight grew closer and closer
And the prince wished for none of it to end
Eventually however, the knight had to leave, making the prince lonely once again
The prince became beyond devastated, he had lost someone who he had started to care about deeply
He knew he couldn't let this happen, he didn't want to be lonely anymore, so the prince tried and followed the knight back to his home
But it was a mistake
Through his heartache of wanting to see the knight again, the prince was transformed into a horrible monster
And was never seen again."
Silence filled the air.
"And...then what?" Bendy asked.
"That's it."
"THAT'S IT?!" Bendy and Cuphead exclaimed in union.
"Yup. That's it." Flowey said, his voice being pretty straight forward.
"That was so sad.." Mae mumbled.
"I haven't heard a fairytale like that." The neighbor spoke. "Is that something you've made up?"
"....maybe.."
"I-It was really sad but..I-I still enjoyed it." Kris said, looking down at the flower. Flowey didn't respond back.
They continued with more stories for the rest of the evening, until it was time for bed and everyone headed to their rooms for the night. Freddy and Bendy were in their rooms, getting themselves comfy. Though, Bendy couldn't stop thinking about the story that his dear friend had told.
"So is it true?" The cartoon spoke up, getting himself situated on his bed.
"Hmm?" Freddy opened his eyes slowly as he stood still on his little stand. His blue piercing eyes glowed in the dark of the room.
"About tonight.."
"Do you not believe me?"
"No no! I do it's just-" Bendy stopped himself, realizing he didn't know what to say as he looked away slightly.
Freddy chuckled slightly, making Bendy look at him. "Whether you believe me or not, I'm still me you know. That same animatronic bear you love being around."
Bendy said nothing for a few moments, realizing that he was right and smiled.
"Yeah..ya right." Bendy laid down on his pillow and covered himself with his blankets.
"G'night Fred." He said turning to face the wall.
"Good night Bendy!"
The cartoon froze. Was that...a child's voice? It sounded like...a little boy..
Bendy quickly turned around to face the bear, but his eyes were already closed. The little demon sighed and laid back down, drifting off to sleep.
Freddy hesitantly opened one eye as he saw Bendy fast asleep. He smiled and finally shut down for the night.
^^^^^^^^^
"Have a goodnight Flowey." Kris said quietly as he held his friend outside of Monika and Flowey's room.
The flower hummed in response, not looking at Kris. The boy titled his head.
"A-are you still thinking about w-what happening tonight?"
Flowey didn't respond.
"Y-you know...you and Fred are a lot alike.."
Still no response from the flower.
"I-it's not too late to start over w-with him.."
Still nothing.
Kris smiled slightly to himself.
"I-I'll see you tomorrow..I love you." Flowey finally looked up at the boy, as he cracked opened the door to the room and quietly gestured Monika to come and pick him up.
She did just that as Flowey saw Kris waved to him before going upstairs to his and Mae's room. Monika placed the flowerpot on the desk, making Flowey travel back to his flowerbed.
"Goodnight Flowey." Monika said, snuggling into her own covers and closing her eyes. Flowey only sighed quietly. He felt really tired from today. All he wanted to do was sleep and for once stop thinking so hard about things.
Flowey felt his eyes grow heavy as he let himself fall into a deep slumber.
