i: a questioning
"Miss Oswald?"
She looks up from her book, holding her wooden pencil while absently chewing the end of it. Thinking it was simply a member of staff that she probably didn't know, she just raised her eyebrows while still nibbling on the wood.
But unfortunately it wasn't, it was detectives.
Clara immediately took the pencil out of her mouth as she stood up, pretending that they had just seen her now.
She swallowed her dignity and said in her best confident tone, "Yes, that's me."
She noticed the women, Clara could tell she was more of a sergeant then an inspector. She had awfully curly hair while wearing a simple blazer and suit, her face was hard and quite stern. Clara couldn't help but think she was unfortunately plagued with the resting bitch face.
The male was definitely a detective inspector, being he was a bit older. His hair was grey but he was young in face and physique. He also wore a blazer and suit, but with a large coat, he seemed a bit more friendly then the other one.
They both walked up to her, showing their ID's. The female was Sally Donovan and the male was Greg Lestrade.
Lestrade explained, "Sorry to bother you, but we just need to you to answer a few questions."
Clara furrowed her eyebrows, "What about?"
Sally pulled out a photo and handed it to Clara swiftly, almost like she had planned to give it at the moment Clara asked the question. It was a small picture, almost a size of a Polaroid.
The picture was a man, fairly tall, dark skinned, had a beard and wore a suit and tie. Clara immediately recognised the man in the photo.
"We believe you're acquainted with Mr Pink, is that correct?" Greg asked.
She explained, "Well, yes. We're quite close work colleagues. I mean, we went out occasionally, but like, as friends, nothing like-"
Sally cut in, "Mr Pink has been missing for the last three days, believed to have disappeared on Friday night. He was last seen with you, outside the school."
Clara could vaguely remember that night, now that she thought about it, she remembered he seemed off. But at the time, it didn't raise any serious alarms, Mr Pink was like that, being from the army would easily make someone a bit paranoid at times.
She folded her arms as she sat back down and leaned back on her chair, staring at the pencil she was chewing not so long ago. It was only for a brief second before she looked up at the detectives.
"I'm guessing you want me to come down to the station."
The two detectives looked at each other briefly and Lestrade said, "Yes, you'll need to come down to the station."
Clara nodded, with her lips pressed together to make a thin line and she stood up from her desk. She grabbed her leather jacket and quickly put it on.
As the detectives were about to leave the room, Clara grinned slightly and asked suddenly, "Can I take my motorcycle?"
Both detectives turned around and looked at her with confused stares. Clara confidently explained, "I mean, I'll be right in front of you if you're paranoid of me driving off somewhere. However, if I believe this is nothing more then a questioning, then I can make my own way and met you there."
Sally immediately argues, "It's a requirement that anyone in questioning comes with the police-"
"I know a shortcut," Clara chimed. She smirked and said, "Don't worry, I won't be going anywhere. I wouldn't miss this for the universe."
