if any of you guys have tiktok or have been keeping up with recent news, you're likely aware that Ruth Bader Ginsburg (RBG) was a woman in the Supreme Court, and a huge advocate for women's rights, LGBTQ+ rights, POC rights, and more.

however, she did pass away, may she rest in peace.

unfortunately, her spot in the Supreme Court has been replaced by Amy Coney Barrett.

let's talk about her for a moment.

first of all, something that should upset ALL parties, no matter where you stand on gay marriage, she is under qualified for the job she is about to take on.

she has never tried a case, argued an appeal, has very little experience in criminal cases, and has only been a judge for three years [1]

however, let's skip over her underqualifications for a moment. let's talk about her values.

barrett is a very religious individual, which, in itself, is quite dangerous in a Supreme Court case. now i'm not saying that you shouldn't work in law if you're religious, but it says in the US Constitution that we are to separate church from state. meaning that if you can't set aside your religious beliefs temporarily for your job in order to follow the goddamn constitution, you shouldn't be a Supreme Court Justice.

however, even for a practicing Catholic, she takes this a bit far.

let's just get a quick list going here--

- she believes that Roe v. Wade was incorrectly decided, meaning she is pro-life and has considered overturning this decision. [2] in addition, i will admit i don't have a source to back this up other than Instagram posts so if anyone could supply a source that would be great, but i have heard that she wants to make the penalty for abortion the death penalty.

- barret's nomination also puts the affordable care act in danger. [3] the affordable care act (or, at least a portion of it) lowers the cost of health insurance if you qualify. this helps lower-income people and families. [4] fucking this up admist a global pandemic will not only worsen the economy, but could lead to the end of lives for those suffering from the coronavirus with the affordable care act if they can no longer pay hospitals out-of-pocket.

tangent here, but my mom and aunt ACTUALLY suffered from the coronavirus. my aunt's o2 stat went down every time she moved. she still has nightmares about it to this day. my mom had to go to the hospital and go on remdesivir (which, for those wondering, is a five day treatment). they almost had to intubate her and she almost fucking died. she can hardly speak and has trouble breathing right now.

so yeah, i'm a little pissed off by that alone.

oh, and here's the thing we all want to talk about--

- amy coney barrett was a trustee at a private school with anti-gay policies, where openly gay or lesbian teachers were unwelcome in the classroom. [5] some speculate that, due to her religious, far-right beliefs, it's quite a possibility that the removal of gay rights could start as soon as november [6]

you don't need me to be the one to say that this is fucking bullshit.

because, fucking believe me, i will burn shit down if this actually goes through.

RBG should not have died only for everything she stood for to be flushed down the toilet as we proceed to suck the government's dick.

Marsha P. Johnson didn't die only to see we only get five years of rights.

i'm not moving to Canada, i'm staying right where i fucking am.

until someone holds me at gunpoint and tells me to pack my bags or get shot for being relatively queer, i'm gonna fight to the best of my ability.

i might get outed in the process, but honestly, i'm willing to overlook that.
