DHRUV'S POV

Pradhi asked us to come to Paru mom's room. When we went there she was lying lifelessly on bed with her blood oozing out from her mouth. I am stunned to see the scenario.

"We tried consoling her so much. But she asked us to go out and wanted to be alone for sometime. She looked the door then, we suspected as she didn't open the door after 10 minutes. We started banging the door but we found the rat poison bottle and also a strip of sleeping pills empty with this letter addressed to you both", Aathika said with full of tears.

I got the letter from Aathika and Rakshan came near me. We both started reading the letter.

Dear Rakshan and Dhruv,

How many ever times I say sorry to you both, it will be less. Yes, I didn't say about your birth mother. It is not because I don't want you to know about her. It is because I promised your mother to not let you know about her ever once. I think I have succeeded in that almost. Never once in these 25 years I made you both think that I am not your mother. More than your dad, I was the one who is more affected in losing your mother. Because she was not only my friend, she was the family I had. My own family never bothered about me. They just spent money on my education but they didn't even know whether I am dead or alive. But your mother Gauri was the one who showed me immense care and affection. Because of her I got Sarang as my friend too. You may think now how did I survive without her all these years. She never left me according to me. I have two Gauris with me now. That is both of you. I see Gauri's appearance in Dhruv and Gauri's maturity in Rakshan every day. Dhruv you exactly have your mother's smile, that is the reason I always supported you even though I know you are wrong sometimes. My heart melts for you Dhruv. Rakshan you are heart son, when you were in hospital fighting for your life I thought I failed as a mother and broken the promise which I gave to my Gauri. I am sorry but I cannot live in this world with both of your hatred. I just have a request, kindly do my last rites together as my sons. I am going to my Gauri. Take care of your dad. I never told him but actually fell for him all these years.

I don't know what came over me and Rakshan, we both ran to Paru mom's bed.

"Mom, wake up please. I am an idiot. I am the one who accused to be a murderer. Now I feel like I am a murderer. Mom, please you don't have to support me from now on. I will be a responsible guy from now on. You don't have to give me dad's part of sweet to me hiding from him. Mom please", I cried out loud.

"Mom, I am sorry... I am really sorry. I should have let you explain at least once. I am the one who is to be blamed not you. Mom, how will we survive without you. Who will give me time to time food? Who will fight with dad for silly things? Mom, if you leave us I swear I won't speak to you ever again", Rakshan started to lament like me.

"Mom, you are the best mother in the whole world. We both are the worst sons. Please mom.. yell at us.. scold us.. beat us as much as you want for everything.. but please don't leave us",I cried like a mad man.

"Mom, we survived without Gauri mom. I swear not even once in these 25 years you made us feel like we both are not your sons. Today I am saying, even if Gauri mom comes today and starts to live with us we both won't accept her. She gave her life to save us both but you sacrificed your life for us to make us a better person. But now we both feel like real culprits mom. Please mom get up. Aarvik Anna (elder brother) call the ambulance now", Rakshan shouted.

"It is waste Rakshan, there is no pulse. I checked her", Aitri Anni (SIL) said sobbing.

"No you all are lying our mom can never leave us like this. Never Ever", I shouted on top of his voice.

"This is what you both wanted right? You wanted her to die instead of Gauri mom. Now she is no more. You both should be happy right. Go and celebrate, do party.", Pradhi shouted looking at us.

"Pradhi I... ", before I can explain Aathika started to speak.

"Of course they will party now. You guys are so good at acting. You both should actually serve her for your whole life for what she did for you but you both made her a murderer in front of everyone. Now you are creating scene like as if you guys care for her", Aathika spoke her heart.

Everyone is right. Rakshan and I are to blamed, especially me because I was the one who called her murderer in front of everyone.

"Mom please come back, see everyone is scolding me. You don't like anyone scolding me right. You are the one who supports me and saves me from everyone. See now everyone is against me mom. Wake up and fight with them for me", I was speaking like a five year old to my mom.

"Even if she comes back you both are just going to hurt her right?", Aitri Anni(SIL) asked us with hatred in her face. We deserve everyone's hatred for what we did.

"No, No, never. We will never hurt her in her life once again. I swear on God even if Dhruv hurts her I will beat him with my own hands", Rakshan said and started crying.

"Yea same here, if Rakshan ever hurts my mom, I will put chilli powder in his coffee and will make him suffer a lot", I said and started and held my mom's legs.

"Paru wake up now. You heard your sons confessions right? Now stop acting and get up", dad said in a cool tone.

"ACTING?", Rakshan and I shouted together.

Paru mom got up from bed and sat down. We both hugged her tightly. Others started laughing loudly. I don't give a damn for that.

"Mom nothing happened to you thank god", Rakshan said with full of happy tears.

"Mom see our love bought you back from death", I told her.

"She was never dead you idiot drunken monkey", Pradhi said and started laughing.

"Mom you should have looked at both of your sons faces. Omg it was worth watching", Aathika joined with Pradhi.

"The best part was when Dhruv said that he will add chilli powder in Rakshan's coffee", Aitri Anni joined them.

"Mom why did you pull this stunt?", Rakshan asked her seriously.

"Well, I was afraid whether you both started hating me but Aitri, Pradhi and Aathika said that they know that you both love me so much. I gave them this idea and asked them to act as such to make sure whether you both started hating me or love me", Mom said caressing both of our heads.

"Mom I never knew this side of you. I never know that our Paru mom can pull these kind of stunts too. But dad how did you know that it is acting?", Rakshan asked dad.

"You fools, I know Paru for 30 years. She used to do all these kind of stuffs in our college times too and moreover you both didn't notice that the rat poison bottle which Aathika was holding is a honey bottle. You both got stunned by seeing your mom in bed and started lamenting. Well, leave that Paru you used to give my part of sweets to Dhruv. This is extremely unfair. You youngman, for the next two weeks I am going to eat all your sweets too", Dad warned me.

"Sarang now you are behaving like a kid", Paru mom looked at dad murderously.

"Mom I am really sorry. I was so devastated that I didn't even give a chance for you to explain. I ", before I can continue further mom stopped me.

"It is fine Dhruv. Even we have planned to tell you both at correct time. So it is fine", Paru mom consoled me. Mother is a mother no matter what. Even after all these things, I am seeing no change in her care and affection.

"And whatever I said in the letter is true. I want you both to do my last rites together when I pass away in future", Mom said with tears.

"Amma, stop speaking like this. You are young and beautiful still", Pradhi came and hugged her.

"Ahaan, you took advantage of me lying on bed and started scolding my son right?", Mom twisted Pradhi's ears.

"Amma, I spoke for you and you are twisting my ears not fair", Pradhi whined.

"Mom, you said whatever you have written in the letter is true. So the last line is also true right? You are in love with dad then", Rakshan asked teasing her. Mom was blushing a lot and dad too.

"Yes", she whispered.

"Are you serious Paru?", dad asked her while holding mom's hand. She nodded again. We had a happy family hug.

But then suddenly we heard a loud noise from the palace hall. We all immediately went and reached there. What we least expected happened next.
