The next day, Reaper heads out for his date, trying his best to do everything to be "most human-like."

Reaper says to Deok-hwa "I must seem human , so I'll walk"

Deok-hwa says "Get in my car , No human can walk all the way to Incheon."

Shin and Ji Yeon have their first run-in after shin's awkward declaration, and they both recoil nervously. 

Ji Yeon stutters and says "I have to go to work"

Shin stops her by saying "Ji Yeon!"

She nervously says "Yes?" 

He says  "What?"

 "You just called me." "I did?" "Yes." "Why?" "I don't know, why?"

Shin thinks why, and says it's because he felt awkward. She says the same, and then offers to say "very naturally" that she's hungry, and he offers to then reply naturally about going to eat meat.

Ji Yeon leaves to get her coat to go and tells him also to get dressed. 

Shin makes a blue coat appear out of thin air and excitedly says "Yes , let's go, let's go"

         They walk into the same fancy steakhouse they'd visited before in Quebec—and as Ji Yeon heads to a table, time suddenly slows waaaaay down for Shin.

He watches people moving at half-speed and Ji Yeon taking a phone call—and then, suddenly, she looks different. Older. Dressed like an adult.

Ji Yeon (Older) turns to greet her lunch partner, an unseen CEO, seemingly not seeing Shin sitting in front of her since he is watching from the present time. "At the age of 29 , you're still shining," 

Shin says, looking at her with sad eyes.

  "But I'm not....by your side. My life of eternity..has finally come to an end. After my death, you are still sitting here. You've forgotten me.....and your life is perfectly complete with me gone. I have to disappear. For you, who is smiling brightly. It's the decision I have to make.

I HAVE TO END MY LIFE".

And then, as we see scenes from their prior encounters, Shin disappears from every picture Ji Yeon (Young)  stands alone in the Canadian street, points at nothing where she once pointed at the sword in his chest, and stands by the shore holding buckwheat flowers by herself.

Shin realizes, "I guess In the end, that's the decision I made for you." 

A tear falls down his face.

For a moment, 19-year-old Ji Yeon appears again staring at him and she just thinks to herself why shin crying .

But then it shifts back to grown-up Ji Yeon, waiting for her partner, as usual not being able to see Shin sitting infront of her.

(God I am crying writing this part 😭😭😭😭😭 My heart is breaking for Shin.)
