Chapter VII

Melody awakened in Sarah's body, in the arms of a very concerned Thancred. "Are you alright?" he asked her with quite a worried tone in his voice.

Melody was extremely confused as to how Fandaniel had done this; how in the world did he get her soul into Sarah's body? "I guess? I don't know, nothing makes any sense."

For some reason she decided that she'd make it seem Sarah loved Thancred, as well as make her look more of a fool than she already did. She jumped out of his arms, and loudly stated, "Everybody, I have an announcement!! This life is a game, literally. I am the player, you lot are the mindless NPCs. I'm actually from a place called Earth, where there are people called Humans. Now that I've delivered you this message, I will self destruct." She then ran and launched her new vessel out of the window, pretending to break both of her legs.

"Sarah! Dear God, please no..." Thancred quickly walked to the arched balcony window Melody had made Sarah jump out of, and looked down to the ground where she was. Seeing her laying seemingly helpless there on the ground greatly distressed him, and he ran out of the room, making his way outside of the house to help "Sarah".

In all truthfulness, Melody had not succeeded in breaking Sarah's legs. Sure, she hurt some, but her legs weren't quite broken. But she had to keep up her act, for tomfoolery's sake. "Thancred, I think I'm dead!!!!" she yelled as loudly and shrilly as she possibly could whilst she watched Thancred run towards her.

He kneeled down next to her. "You're not dead, Sarah. Did you break anything?" He seemed calm, yet terribly worried at the same time. Which makes no sense at all.

Soon Alisaie was there too, both her and Thancred trying to get an answer out of Sarah. Melody decided instead of replying, she'd pretend to faint.

"Sarah?" For a moment there was dead silence. Thancred picked her up, as gently as he possibly could. He brought "Sarah" inside and put her on her bed.

In the meantime, the real Sarah had awakened in Melody's body on the couch downstairs. She was enraged once she realized that the vessel her soul resided in did not belong to her. "What is the meaning of this?! I didn't wake up today and think: Oh, you know what would be fun? Getting my body stolen. Again! I don't know who did this, but when I find out who did, I swear I'm gonna defenestrate them." She got up and headed for the library room.

She did not find herself there, and soon was scurrying all about her house, trying to find her body. An odd sentence out of context, but oh well. "Melody" screeched as she ran into Sarah's bedroom.

Melody jerked up in genuine fear when she heard herself screech in such an ungodly way. "Good God almighty!" she exclaimed.

Thancred, who was currently sitting on the edge of the bed, raised his eyebrows at "Melody".

She looked absolutely furious. "May I speak with Mel-- with 'Sarah' alone please?" Despite how she spoke through gritted teeth, she was trying her hardest to be polite.

Thancred and Alisaie left the room and closed the door.

Sarah loomed over the bed, glaring silently for a moment. "So, 'Sarah', I assume you know who's responsible for this situation?" When Melody didn't reply, she edged towards the window. "If you don't tell me, I could always, you know, defenestrate myself as you," she threatened, dangerously calm.

"Fine, fine! Fandaniel did it; I asked him to. But I didn't think he would-- I didn't even know it was possible!!" Melody blurted out in a panic.

Sarah threw her arms up in exasperated irritation. "Fandaniel! That soggy noodle!! Of course it was Fandaniel! Now I'm stuck in your body, and these boobs are too big for my liking; they get in the way," she complained, now crossing her arms.

"My boobs are average, yours are the tiniest things I've ever seen in my entire life." Melody snapped back at her. "When you leave this room, I'm going to make you look like a complete idiot." She narrowed her eyes at herself, which felt a bit weird.

"I do not care," scoffed Sarah. Grabbing her scythe from where it leaned against the side of the bed, she then marched quickly and aggressively out of the room.

Thancred had been standing just by the doorway, and was quite perplexed when he saw Melody stalk out with Sarah's scythe in hand. What had happened between them? Had they argued? He walked into the room once more and sat right back down on the edge of the bed. "Are you alright?"

Melody smiled at him. "Yes, yes, I'm just fine." Out of nowhere, she stood up on the bed and shouted, "I love you, Thancred. I can finally say it now because I hit myself on the head really hard!!" She stepped off of the bed, attempted to do a cartwheel and failed.

Thancred rose and stepped over to "Sarah", who was face flat on the cold wood floor. "Are you completely sure you're alright?" he questioned whilst helping her up.

Melody stood laughing in his face.

It wasn't often Sarah made any sense, but this had convinced him that something was terribly wrong. "She's finally gone completely mad," Thancred muttered to himself, watching "Sarah's" laughing face.

Her laughter finally dying down, she took a step closer to Thancred, and standing on her toes she kissed him for quite some time. Disgusting, but unfortunately for me, I can't do anything about it.

"FANDANIEL, YOU GET YOUR SORRY EXCUSE OF AN EXISTENCE OVER HERE RIGHT NOW." Fandaniel was nowhere in sight, which only aggravated Sarah more.

"That won't work, Sarah," a voice in her mind-- one that sounded suspiciously like Melody-- commented.

"Who the heckity heck are you?" Sarah asked the voice aloud.

"I think I'm Melody, but I don't really know..." the voice said back sarcastically.

"Just tell me how to find Fandaniel," she replied, exasperated.

"Call his name like you genuinely care about him," answered Melody.

A look of disgust surfaced on Sarah's features. "Ew, no."

"Well that's only way you'll find him. Also, would you stop talking to me out loud? You're making me look crazy," Melody shot back at her sassily.

Sarah ignored Melody. Mustering up some acting skills, she called Fandaniel's name just like Melody instructed her to, trying her hardest to capture the way she said things.

Right at that very moment he appeared in front of her, smiling. "Hello, Melody!"

"Melody" hit him on the head with the blunt end of Sarah's scythe.

"Ow!" Fandaniel shrieked, and his eyes welled up with tears.

She dropped the scythe, a threatening gleam in her eye, and cracked her knuckles. She then began to beat him up. "What a weak body this is. How disappointing," remarked Sarah, delivering another, harder punch to Fandaniel's poor face.

"Well, that's rude," Melody responded indignantly in Sarah's mind.

Fandaniel was like a sniveling baby, lying on the ground helplessly while Sarah hit him. Abruptly she paused, towering menacingly over the man on the floor. "You swap our bodies back immediately, or I promise I will defenestrate you," she threatened. The voice was Melody's, but the tone was distinctly Sarah-like.

"Of course!" Fandaniel agreed, panicked, and everything once again faded to black.

Sarah woke up in her body once again, on the floor with Thancred looking down at her extremely worried. "Well, that was a nightmare. Listen, if I did anything weird, it was Melody."

Thancred only looked even more confused.

During this, Melody had awakened on the hallway floor being hugged by a sniffling Fandaniel. Glancing at her hands she noticed there was blood on her knuckles. She quickly sat up on her knees and pulled Fandaniel's hood off. Doing so only resulted in her becoming quite distressed by what she saw. "What happened?! Your nose is bleeding." She was trying to remain calm, but  was doing a very bad job of it.

"It appears Sarah beat me up in your body," his expression turned from a little frown to a weak smile, "but you needn't worry. I'll be alright, Melody."

Melody opened her mouth to speak, but Sarah's footsteps interrupted her. "Hey," she said loudly as she quickly walked over to Fandaniel and Melody while Thancred slowly followed. "Tell me everything that happened while you were me." To Melody's surprise she didn't sound all that angry.

"No," Melody replied with a smirk.

Thancred had already had an extremely puzzled look on his face, and yet somehow it managed to intensify. "So that wasn't even Sarah? It was you?" he questioned Melody.

"Yeah, that was me," she answered casually. Having gotten a tissue from nowhere, she now handed it to Fandaniel. He wiped the half-dried blood off his face with it.

"You genuinely believed that was me?!" Sarah looked slightly offended. The tip of her tail waved to and fro as she stood looking up at him with her hands on her hips.

"Well, granted, you don't usually do cartwheels, scream about how much you love me, or launch yourself out of windows, but you're also so unpredictable it's quite difficult to tell just what you're going to do next. I had come to the conclusion that it was another one of your personalities."

Just the mention of everything she had done made Melody quietly laugh to herself while she whispered something inaudible. Thancred, on the other hand, was not amused. He then informed Sarah on everything Melody had done whilst pretending to be her.

Sarah took a step closer to Melody, knelt down, and slapped her in the face.

Melody laughed and slapped her right back. All of a sudden they were engaged in some sort of slapping war, donning matching ridiculous grins as their war paint.

" Why are you two so violent toward each other? I thought you were friends; what is going on?" Thancred sighed, still utterly baffled by the day's rather topsy-turvy events.

"It's not violence, its communication," Sarah replied undauntedly, still slapping Melody.

"Define communication for me." Melody requested of her friend with a silly smile when a break in their little battle transpired.

"Violence," was, of course, Sarah's response, a gleam in her eyes and an evil smirk on her lips.

"Communication is violence, and violence is communication!" blurted out Melody, laughing almost like she was crazy.

  "Precisely!"

Thancred facepalmed. "This doesn't even make sense..." he mumbled, then walked away.

Melody noticed him leaving. "Nothing makes sense!" she called out to him over her shoulder.

Thancred did not even bother replying. He just left.

Sarah and Melody began spouting absolute nonsense to one another. Fandaniel having left who-knows-how-long ago, it was just the two of them being confusing and ridiculous. They chased each other around the whole house with their weapons while screaming empty, oddly descriptive threats as a joke. Somehow they ran up the stairs without falling and made it to the library room in one piece.

Melody dropped her sword on the ground. "Fandaniel will do anything I tell him, and if I injured myself in any way, he would come running. It's really funny; wanna see?" she said to Sarah, her smile confident of her claims.

"Sure." Sarah still had her scythe out and was leaning on it, watching.

Melody nodded, then thudded onto the floor purposefully, and screamed. Though, the scream seemed just a bit too genuine.
