Chapter I

Melody watched as the group of people fought the strange monsters two pink haired Au Ra women had summoned beforehand to the Sharlayan Markets. She had been watching all of this go down almost as if it were a movie. It seemed almost as if one of them were watching her also; he was a white-haired Elezen boy with pretty dark blue eyes and was quite short.

"Alphinaud, what in the what are you looking at?!" a short Miqo'te woman wielding a scythe yelled at him. Her tone of voice conveyed that she knew she was being annoying and she was enjoying it.

"Forgive me, I had gotten distracted." he replied, somewhat startled by her yelling, and jumped out of the way of his opponent's attack. He returned to fighting the monsters, though it seemed he was still very distracted and wasn't focusing on the task at hand.

Further ahead in the fray, another Elezen girl that looked almost exactly like Alphinaud fought. They were obviously twins, and she had immediately caught onto Alphinaud's strange behavior. She shot him a teasing look, almost as if she was telling him with her eyes that she knew what he was looking at. What was he looking at? He was looking at Melody, and she was looking right back at him.

"Perhaps you should help us fight instead of staring at that girl," Alphinaud's twin said to him in a teasing way that sounded somewhat annoyed. "If you keep up like this, you'll get us all killed!"

"I was doing no such thing,  Alisaie!" he snapped back at her, embarrassed and irritated.

"You were!" Alisaie yelled back at him.

The scythe-wielding Miqo'te perked her ears up curiously. "He's looking at who now?"

"That dark brown-haired, brown-eyed Miqo'te girl with the green dress." Alisaie said as she pointed to Melody with her rapier.

At this point the twins and the Miqo'te weren't even fighting anymore. Only two others, a Hyur guy and another older Miqo'te woman were left battling the monsters.

The younger Miqo'te woman ran straight over to Melody, acting as if she didn't even have a brain. The Hyur man yelled out, "Sarah!" in a scolding tone when he noticed her wander off-- but didn't follow her, instead staying in the fight to finish off the last of the monsters.

Alphinaud and Alisaie were simply observing all of this as it happened. The older Miqo'te shook her head slowly, her eyes closed in disapproval, and proceeded to fight the monster.

"I'm Sarah Sunshine-- you want fresh fish?" Sarah asked as she held up a fish, fresh enough to still be alive, that she had gotten from approximately nowhere.

"Wait-- you're the Sarah Sunshine everybody talks about, right? The Warrior of Light." Melody said, somewhat surprised.

"Who else would I be?" Sarah still held the same tone in her voice like she was being annoying on purpose; it seemed like she talked like that all the time.

Melody glanced at the other four, now gathered about observing the conversation. "Who are those people?" she asked.

"Oh, those are--" Instead of Sarah finishing her sentence, she let out a loud ear piercing screech and screamed at the top of her lungs, "SPIDER!!" as she pointed to a very small, harmless spider right next to her foot.

  "THANCRED, KILL IT!!!"

Melody pulled her ears down and shut her eyes tightly, because dang, that woman could screech. Then Thancred quickly ran over to Sarah and calmly squished the spider with his foot. He made a face at her as if he was saying with his eyes, Really? You fight big, ugly monsters and yet you cannot defeat a spider?

Sarah continued her sentence as if nothing had happened, gesturing to each one as she mentioned their names. "This is Thancred, Y'shtola, Alphinaud, and Alisaie."

"Oh, alright then." said Melody, endlessly distracted by Thancred's handsomeness.

Sarah suddenly had a look on her face like she had a wonderful idea! That wonderful idea of hers was to go to the Last Stand as a reward for their hard work. "Why don't we go to the Last Stand, because-- why not?" she said to Thancred with a side smile.

Thancred let out a sigh. "Perhaps we shall?"

Sarah turned her head to Melody. "Hey, do you wanna come with us?" she asked her.

"Why, of course I do!" Melody answered her excitedly with much joy.

So they went, and while they walked Sarah discussed with Melody the best way to kill someone. The woman hadn't even asked Melody her name! A bit strange if you ask me, but I'm just the narrator. My opinion doesn't matter in this story. By the time she'd realized she didn't know Melody's name, they had already arrived at the Last Stand.

"Wait-- I don't even know your name. Do you have a name? If so, pray tell me what it is." Sarah finally asked Melody.

Melody smiled and giggled to herself and repeated under her breath, "Do I have a name--"

"Well, do you? I mean-- it is possible, maybe you have short term memory?" Sarah told her.

"Of course I have a name, and it's Melody Bee." she answered her, still somewhat giggling.

"Oh, cool." Sarah nodded and turned to go order their food.
