My first day part 2
I got through my first four periods pretty easily, except for Japanese (history) and world history. I'm not all that great at remembering facts and trivia. Health was pretty boring and Japanese was fun, we're doing a unit on poetry, something I really enjoy doing.
The bell rung and we headed to lunch. I grabbed my lunch and suddenly realized that I had no one to sit with. Just as I was starting to panic, I was approached by a boy with messy green hair and freckles .
"Hello. My name is Midoriya Izuku! My friends and I were wondering if you'd like to sit with us."
"Uh, sure." I say shyly with a smile.
We headed towards a table where I saw the same boy from earlier with blue hair and doing the same thing with his hand, a girl with brown hair that bobbed and a smile on her face like she was laughing, a boy with heterochromatic hair and a blank expression, and a girl with long green hair and a neutral expression.
"Hey, everyone. I hope you guys remember l/n."
"Of course, Deku. Hey! My name's Uraraka Ochako, nice to meet you!" Said the girl with a big smile of her face.
"Hi, uh, nice to meet you to."
I sit down in-between midoriya and the girl with green hair.
"Ribbit. My name is Asui Tsuyu, but please call me Tsu."
"Ok, Tsu."
"Hello. My name is Iida Tenya and welcome to UA. I have to apologize for Bakugou's behavior this morning, it was out of line and rude."
"No, it's alright. I can see why he'd be unable to understand why it took me so long to decide. He seems like an arrogant person so of course he doesn't really know what it's like to be nervous about something like this."
"That's very observant of you l/n. Ribbit."
"Yeah I'm impressed. Kacchan is very bold and thinks of himself very highly. Rightfully so though to an extent, he and Todoroki are the strongest in the class, and he was born with a really powerful quirk. He was raised to think he was the best and that went to the extreme in his own mind."
"Wow, uh. Didn't expect that. Um, which one's Todoroki?"
"I am." said the boy with split hair.
"Oh, sorry. I kinda didn't give you a chance to introduce yourself."
"No. it's fine."
"Hm." I hum in response.
We started talking about what classes I liked so far, and what teachers, and what I was excited about. I was uncomfortable so I started asking questions about things like hero training.
"So Bakugou did what?" I ask while shoving some rice into my mouth.
"He sent this bid fireball explosion towards Midoriya and if he hadn't dogged he might've died." Replied Uraraka.
"Holy shit."
"Hahahahaha!"
"So, l/n. What's your quirk?" Asked Todoroki.
"Oh, uh, I'm gonna save that for hero training tomorrow. I want to have the element of surprise, you know?"
"Ribbit. I guess."
We cleared our trays and headed to class.
I'm a pretty good cook because I had to learn for myself because cup ramen wasn't going to cut it if I wanted to stay in shape as a hero in training, so home ec was a breeze.
Then we had English a who boy it was loud.
"L/N! CAN YOU PLEASE TRANSLATE THE SENTENCE ON THE BOARD!"
I think I'm going to be deaf by the end of the year.
"Uh, sure."
I walk up to the board, I feel really awkward like this
I look so weird right now.
'The girl walked to school with her friends.'
"VERY GOOD L/N!"
"Mhm. Thank you."
I shyly walk back to my seat as I hear Bakugou "tch."
Someone kill me.
Math wasn't all that bad, I learned it last year so I didn't find myself to be behind.
I packed up all my stuff and was about to leave when I heard someone calling out for me
"L/nnnnnnnn! Waitttttt!"
"Huh?"
Uraraka, Midoriya, and Iida run up to me as I turn around.
"We were wondering if you'd like to walk home with us." Uraraka asks with a smile.
"Uh, sure."
"So, why does Uraraka call you 'Deku?'"
"Oh, it's becuase it was a nickname Kacchan gave to me when we were younger—we're childhood friends."
"You don't seem like friends."
"Well, it's a complicated story."
"Hm."
"So, l/n. What kind of hero do you hope to be? Like a popular in-the-spotlight type or more like Mr. Aizawa where you only work at night." Asks Uraraka.
"Well, I'm not all that confident, and I don't like being in the spotlight. I want to be known, but not singled out."
"That's a respectable answer." Replies Iida.
"Ah, thank you. Oh! This is my stop. Thank you guys for walking with me, see you tomorrow." I say with a smile.
"Byeeee!" "Bye l/n." "Goodbye."
I give a closed eye smile and a small wave.
I walk in my house and say to myself:
"Not a bad day."
Hey if anyone's confused about when during lunch you started acting all confident,
It's because if I'm with people for long enough at a time, I forget that I exist so I stop thinking about what's going on and I lose my anxiety for a bit (and let me tell you it's great).
