Internship
We are currently at the train station for us to be on our way to our internships.
"You all have your costumes, right? Remember, you aren't allowed to wear them in public. Don't drop them or anything."
"Yessir!" Ashido exclaims.
"Speak clearly! It's 'yes, sir," Ashido."
"Yes, sir..." Ashido says—embarrassed and a little upset.
"Make sure you mind your manners with the heroes at your internships! Off with you, now."
"Yes, sir!"
I head to the train that takes me to Kyushu, and I notice that Tokoyami is going to the same train. I stay silent—neither of us really wanting to start a conversation.
(I apologize for any incorrect information. Not much is shown from Tokoyami's internship, so I'm gonna do my best to make it realistic and entertaining)
The train ride was about six hours, and after two hours Tokoyami struck up a conversation—or rather asked a single question and then went back to being silent.
"You are going to Hawks' agency, correct?"
"Yeah. One of my illusion loopholes is that I can create wings for myself—and I want to work on strengthening them. They're weak as they are—barely able to carry me. So if I'm carrying injured people or need to go long distance, I want to work on improving that part. How about you? Is it just that you're both birds so it makes sense?"
"Yeah, pretty much."
After that, I slept for the rest of the way.
When we arrived, we both walked to Hawks' agency since it wasn't too far from the station.
We were greeted by one of his sidekicks and we were taken to the hotel we'd be staying at to drop off our luggage—separate rooms of course.
We were driven back to the agency and were told to put on our hero costumes.
We were then brought up to where Hawks was.
"Hey there, welcome to my agency. So, I got the gist of your quirk," Hawks points to Tokoyami.
"But what exactly is your quirk?" He turns to me.
"Oh, um. It's illusion. But it has some loopholes and allows me to do stuff like summon wings."
"Hm. Interesting. Why don't you start off by telling me your hero names."
Tokoyami goes first. "I am the jet-black hero: Tsukoyomi."
"And I'm the myst hero: Puella Qui Praestigia." I say shyly.
"Interesting. You," he points to me.
"Translate your name."
"It means 'girl who tricks.' But it's a bit of a pun that references my quirk, personality or nature, goals, and battle tactics in one."
"Interesting. But won't people want to know what their hero's name means?"
"With all due respect, they could just use google translate." I say blankly.
"Witty one aren't you? Moving on, let's get started. You're probably tired, long train ride I'm assuming. So why don't we start with a simple patrol?"
We head outside, and do just as he said.
It's kind of boring, but I understand the importance of it.
I summon a soul gem in my hand—not any real function, just something to fidget with.
(It looks like this:)
(It isn't glowing though, it's just it's base colour—what ever you want it to be. I have it as purple for me.)
I fidget with it for a while before anyone notices. )We're standing on the sidewalk with Hawks in the middle and Tokoyami on his right. I'm fidgeting with it in my left hand.)
"Puella, what's that in your hand?"
"Hm? Oh this, it's a soul gem, but it's just an illusion so it serves no purpose really. I'm just fidgeting with it."
"How can you hold it if it's an illusion?"
"Any and all illusions I can touch—just as anyone can if they will it. If someone doesn't want to touch the illusion, or have the illusion touch them, then it can't. If they want it to, then it will. But I don't usually tell people that because they could play it right so that touching or hitting my illusion gives them the advantage."
"Interesting."
Is "interesting" his word of the day?
We continue to patrol for the next few hours before we stop to eat.
Hawks orders the Yakitori, Tokoyami gets the apple curry, and I order (favorite or one of your favorite Japanese foods).
Hawks asks me a lot about my quirk.
-different limitations
-different abilities
-weaknesses
-loopholes
-after I mentioned labyrinths he asked a lot about them
-I also ended up talking about the "myst" in my name, and the full extent of the pun of my hero name
-and whatever else was unclear about my quirk.
I could feel the jealousy radiating off Tokoyami, but I apologized later. He said it was okay since it wasn't my fault that my quirk isn't very clear—even in battle—but I noticed that he was still a little upset.
Hawks offers to pay, and after some deliberation, I let him.
I get back to my hotel room, shower, and fall on to my bed.
Hawks said to be at 5:30 because there'd be a car waiting outside the hotel to take us to the agency, so I set my alarm for 5:00, 5:05, 5:10, 5:15.
I decide to go to bed and not stay up so I can get rest, but that doesn't work and end up on my phone until I randomly checked the time around 1:00 and freaked out and went to bed.
It took my fourth and final alarm to wake me up—becuase I remembered how many alarms I set and that none more would come after this one.
I was ready and downstairs by 5:30 on the dot—not a minute to spare—and got in the back with Tokoyami. Both of us were on our phones the whole time and didn't bother to speak really.
Ok. First full day. I wonder what we're going to do.
