Chapter 9

Well, it was clear that these next two days were going to be the longest and probably the worst of her life. She didn't even need to stay home from school. She'd had one tiny incident, that's all.

She just wanted to get back to school and see Kou again. This wasn't fair at all.

Kaylee was forced to spend the first day in bed, just in case. She thought it was totally ridiculous though. She was perfectly fine. It helped a little that her brothers came to check on her multiple times that day.

"Kaylee, Teddy and I have come to keep you company for a while" Kanato had said, sitting on her bed when he'd come to see her earlier.

Kaylee smiled at him "Thanks, Kanato!"

"It's no problem. We're happy to stay with you" Kanato said, smiling softly "Aren't we, Teddy?"

Kanato's company was actually kind of pleasant to Kaylee, until Ayato showed up that is.

"Oi, hysteric!" He'd said, shoving Kanato to the side "It's my turn with Kay now!"

Kanato glared at him "No, it's not! I'm with her now! Get lost!"

Not wanting Kanato to go into his full psycho mode, Kaylee quickly smiled brightly at him and said softly "It's alright, Kanato. You can come back later and hang out with me"

That seemed to calm Kanato and make him happy, as he'd smiled widely and then left the room.

The worst part was definitely when Laito came up with her dinner and tried to feed her. Yes, he actually tried to feed her food to her like she was 2 years old or something.

"Come on now, Kay-Chan" Laito mused, trying to get Kaylee to open her mouth "Be a good girl and open wide for me"

Kaylee rolled her eyes and glared at him "Laito, I'm not a two year old, I'm very capable of feeding myself"

"I'd much rather feed you myself, Kay-Chan" Laito said, smirking "Now, open wide like a good girl"

"Laito, stop this!" Kaylee said "Again, I am your sister! Stop acting like that around me!"

"Aw, Kay-Chan you seem to be in a bad mood" Laito said, smirking at her again.

Kaylee folded her arms "Yeah, maybe because my older brother is acting like a total pervert and is trying to feed me like I'm a toddler!"

"If you really didn't want me to feed you, you could've just said so" Laito said, smirking and handing her the fork.

"I literally have been telling you that this whole time!" Kaylee said, taking the fork from him to eat her dinner.

After eating her dinner, Kaylee decided to try get some sleep as she knew that her brothers would all be leaving for school soon.

Before going to school, Subaru came into Kaylee's room to check how she was.

"Hey, little rose" he mumbled, sitting on the edge of her bed.

Kaylee opened her eyes and smiled brightly at him "Hi, Subaru!"

"You feeling okay?" he asked.

Kaylee nodded "Kind of annoying how I had to stay here all day"

Subaru nodded and looked away from her. Kaylee reached out and took his hand in hers, giving his hand a slight squeeze.

Subaru looked back at her, though his expression stayed the same as it always was, Kaylee could see that his red eyes softened slightly by her touch.

Kaylee wished that Subaru would smile at least once in a while. He always looked so miserable and angry. She wished that she could see him look a bit happier. She understood why he was like this though. He'd been through a lot. Like she had, but he had been put through much worse than her, in her opinion.

"I love you, Subaru" Kaylee said, quietly.

"I love you too, little rose" he said, also very quietly. He then stroked her light blue hair gently "I have to go now. Get some rest, little rose"

Kaylee nodded and shut her eyes. Subaru got up and left the room, quietly shutting the door behind him so he didn't disturb her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next day, Kaylee was actually allowed to leave her room. She was very relieved by that. She felt if she had to spend another whole day in her room again, she'd go crazy.

Also, her brothers were a bit easier on her today and gave her some more personal space than usual. She guessed that Reiji must have warned them to give her a little more space and not wear her out or something like that.

Kaylee came downstairs that night once her brothers had all left for school. She thought they were all gone. That was until she came into the living room to see Shu sprawled out on the couch.

"Shouldn't you be at school?" she asked him.

"I could ask you the same thing" Shu replied, not bothering to even open his eyes to look at her.

"Reiji forced me to stay home" Kaylee said, rolling her eyes. As much as she loved her eldest brother, he could be a real pain sometimes.

"Skipping" Shu told her.

"Fair enough" Kaylee said, sitting cross-legged in an armchair and taking out her drawing book to draw one of her cute little designs she drew when bored.

She kind of wished that she was at school with the rest of her brothers. She had nothing to do here when they were gone, other than doodle. And she missed Kou so much.

They're date was coming up soon and she was so excited. She'd planned on going shopping for a new dress with Laito tomorrow. Laito was her only brother that actually enjoyed shopping with her and she knew he wouldn't ask any questions about why she needed a new dress.

She was more worried about the actual night anyway. She still hadn't told any of her brothers about Kou asking her out and she didn't know how they were going to react to her going on a date with him.

She just hoped that she could get past them on Saturday night and that they didn't stop her from seeing Kou.

Little did Kaylee know that she had another problem coming her way. The Sakamaki household was about to have a new arrival soon. One that Kaylee would not be happy about.
