Kou was a bit concerned that he hadn't seen Kaylee again for the rest of the school night. She probably had to go home early. It was unlike her to leave school early though. Maybe she was just sick or something. 

He hoped she was okay and that he could see her in school tomorrow night. He also hoped she was okay for Saturday as well. He was so excited for his date with her and he couldn't seem to hide it.

Since they got home from school, Kou had been getting weird looks from his brothers by his sudden excited behaviour. It was a bit unlike him to be this excited.

"What's up with you?" Yuma had asked him earlier.

"Nothing much" Kou had answered, smiling.

"Has to be something, you're never this happy" Yuma said.

"I said it's nothing" Kou said, walking out of the room.

The only one who didn't seem too surprised by Kou's behaviour was Ruki. Kou was almost sure by now that Ruki knew about his feelings for Kaylee. Would he be angry if he admitted it to him though?

What proved Kou's point of Ruki knowing was a little conversation that happened between Ruki and Yuma earlier.

"Ruki, I need to talk to you!" Yuma said, coming into Ruki's room.

"What about, Yuma?" Ruki asked, not looking up from his book.

"About Kou" Yuma said.

Ruki looked up from his book then at Yuma "What about Kou?"

"Have any idea what's going on with his sudden attitude change?" Yuma asked, leaning against the wall.

"What do you mean his sudden attitude change?" Ruki asked.

"Come on, Ruki, don't tell me you haven't noticed!" Yuma said "Kou is never this happy! Something is up with him!"

Ruki shrugged "Maybe he's just excited for something."

"About what? He never gets like this about anything"

Ruki looked down at his book again "Kou isn't doing anything wrong by acting like this. I'm sure there's a good reason behind it. You should just leave him be"

Kou was in his room, trying to avoid any of his brothers asking him about his behaviour. Unfortunately for him, Azusa came into his room, wanting to know.

At least it was only Azusa though and not Yuma or Ruki.

"Kou?" Azusa said, coming into Kou's roon.

"What, Azusa?" Kou sighed, already knowing why his brother was here.

"I was...wondering if...you were okay" Azusa said, in that slow way he always spoke.

"I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" Kou asked.

"It's just that...you seem to...be acting kind of...weird" Azusa said. 

He was one to talk about being weird. Sure, Kou loved his brother dearly, but his knife obsession was pretty weird.

"Oh, well, I'm just happy because I've got a date this Saturday that I'm excited for!" Kou said, feeling as though he could tell Azusa.

"Oh...I see" Azusa said, relieved that Kou's behaviour was for a good reason "Who are...you going...on a...date with?"

"Her name is Kaylee! She's so beautiful and kind! I just love her so much!" Kou told his brother, without realizing he had mentioned Kaylee's name.

"Kaylee? Do you...mean Kaylee Sakamaki?" Azusa asked "Kou...are you...going out with...the Sakamaki's sister?"

"Uh...m-maybe" Kou said, his happy mood turning to a nervous one. He didn't want to upset his brother but there was no way he was ditching Kaylee because of a grudge his family had against hers.

"Kou, the others...will be...mad at you..if they find...out about this. Especially Ruki" Azusa pointed out.

"So what?" Kou said "I don't care what they say! As long as she likes me back, everyone else can go screw themselves!"

"I promise...I won't tell...but they still...might find out" Azusa said.

"So what if they find out? So what if she's a Sakamaki?" Kou said "All I care about is her liking me back. Nothing else matters to me!"

"I just...don't want...you getting...in trouble, Kou" Azusa said, looking down at the ground.

Kou appreciated that Azusa was willing to accept him wanting to be in a relationship with the Sakamaki girl. He felt a little bad for how he reacted there. He came closer to Azusa and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Thanks, Azusa!" Kou said, smiling at him "I appreciate you not telling the others!"

Azusa looked up at Kou "That's... okay, Kou, I'd...hate to...see you...get in...trouble"

The two boys kind of just stood there until Ruki's voice, coming from outside the door, startled both of them.

"Dinner will be served soon. Get ready and be down in the next few minutes" Ruki told them and then turned to leave.

Kou, however, went after him "Ruki?"

Ruki stopped and turned to face Kou "Yes, Kou?"

"Um..is it alright if I ask you something?" Kou asked, nervously.

"Go on" Ruki said, his expression stern as usual.

"Well, if...I told you that I liked the Sakamaki's sister, how would you react?" Kou asked, wondering if Ruki would actually answer. He probably already knew, so Kou wasn't too worried about asking him that.

Ruki looked at Kou through narrowed eyes "Kou, is there something you wish to tell me?

"N-no, I have nothing t-to tell you.." Kou stuttered, nervously "It's nothing. Just forget it"

Ruki eyed him for a second before sighing "Very well. Be down to the dining room in the next few minutes please"

With that, Ruki went down the hall and downstairs. Kou just stood there after he left.

He didn't know if he should've just told Ruki the truth. He was scared of how he might react though.

Did it really matter if Kaylee was a Sakamaki though? Sure, his family didn't like hers, but he was in love with her. Isn't that all that should matter?

He didn't really care what his brothers thought of him wanting to be with Kaylee though. He knew that he'd eventually have to tell them. But if they thought for a second that he was going to leave her because she's a Sakamaki, they can forget it.

There was no way that he was ever going to leave Kaylee. He didn't care what happened, nothing was ever going to ever take Kaylee away from him.
