I am sorry, but Demi (auts14)and I are both Undertale fangirls, as well as shippers. So we were having our usual conversation at midnight, and through a very weird series of events, we decided that one of our ships was IMPLIED canon.

What I mean by implied, is that we found enough evidence to say that it is at least one sided. As for the other person, we are assuming so. The ship I'm talking about is Soriel. (Grab the popcorn, im gonna put on my nerd glasses and get going) SPOILERS!!!!!

At the end of the end of the Pacifist run, if you flirt with Toriel and call her mom, you will have this conversation pop up sometime after Asriel's fight (as seen in LuckySevenDX play through. It's pretty good, check it out!):

Sans: *hey, tori, do you have any other embarrassing stories?

Toriel: Oh, do I ever! But that one was one of the most unbelievable. It's hard to think anyone would want to flirt with me.

Alphys: ha... Ha ha... AH! AHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, Toriel, you have no idea.

More or less, that's the conversation.

First off, Alphys's reaction. Clearly, there's SOMEONE out there who wants to flirt with her. But who? Let's think here for a moment.

In the true Pacifist, before the Asriel battle, Toriel doesn't recognize anyone, but three people. Asgore, for obvious reasons; Sans, because they talked through the door; and Papyrus, because Sans talked about him so much.

We can rule off Papyrus right off the bat because when he shows up for the battle, he clearly doesn't recognize Toriel's voice. So this means that Sans told Toriel about Papyrus, but never told Papyrus about Toriel.

As for Asgore, I think we can rule him out too. I looked up the definition of flirt and essentially, this is what I got: "behave as though attracted to or trying to attract someone, but for amusement rather than with serious intentions." Based on that definition, I think you would have to be actually TALKING TO THE PERSON YOU WANT TO FLIRT WITH AND NOT JUST THINKING ABOUT THEM. I am 100% sure Asgore never went to the door, or even knew where Toriel was or how she was doing. Mostly just because of common sense, and for the fact that when Toriel confronts Asgore, they don't act like they've spoken recently.

So the only one who could "flirt" with Toriel is Sans.

However, there are two problems with this. A) how did Alphys even know about this. B) the definition of flirt that I found says "not serious." Neither of us could really come up with a good explanation for how Alphys knows without leaving canon ground and heading into fanon. The two ideas we came up with are that Sans knows Alphys because he has a connection with science. However, although there is the whole "Sans's Lab" in Undertale, we don't know if he even became close with Alphys. We just know that he has some science stuff. The second one, and much more likely, is that Sans makes it REALLY OBVIOUS. While the conversation is going on with how Asgore should move in and look for someone else, the two are staring at each other. You could say that they're just staring, but Alphys and Undyne look at each other in a similar fashion at the beginning of the introductions. Now for about the flirting.

Demi, who knows a lot more about love than I do, helped me out with this. Flirting is meant to be taken in a playful manner, but there is a point when it can be taken seriously. In the context of the battle, we wouldn't really know. HOWEVER, if we go back to where you and Sans are at the MTT resort, we get more information there. Sans talks about Toriel, and he clearly seems to think highly of her. based on the way he talks about her, we seem to think that Sans is crushing on her. Plus there is the fact that he would constantly make sure to come back and spend time with her, but he doesn't really make the sarcastic jokes most people make about their friends. So I'd DEFINITELY say Sans is crushing on Toriel.

Now for the other side of the spectrum. Does Toriel feel the same way?

First of all, we both think that she's moved on from Asgore. When Sans and Toriel first meet in person, Asgore starts crying again, which shows that he(and almost everyone in the room judging by the expressions) knows it's over between them and that there is a thing between Sans and Toriel.

After some discussing and picture comparing, we decided that we think that Toriel feels the same way. We both agreed that they're at least best friends, if not platonically queer. Mostly based in this conversation:

Sans writing as Toriel: *hey, frisk. It's torrrrrrrieeeeeelll. I just baked 100000 pies. Do you want any? Don't forget to brush your teeth before crossing the street.

Toriel: I did not say that.

Toriel writing as Sans: Greetings. This is Sans. I love my brother very much.

Sans: *help, I'm being slandered.

We think you'd have to be pretty close to be mocking each other like that and be okay with it. I can think of a few people that would be pissed if I did that.

So I asked Demi if she saw it as a PQR (platonically queer relationship), or did Toriel also have a crush on Sans? She said that she thought Tori was crushing too, and we both agreed on this point. THEY BOTH HAVE ALMOST THE SAME LOOK IN THEIR EYES AND ALPHYS AND UNDYNE DO FOR EACH OTHER. They both have this, "I'm happy to see you and I'm glad we're hanging out" look, or at least that's how I described it. Who knows. XD But we think because of the fact that the barrier is open, Sans and Toriel just met for the first time in person, and the fact that Asgore is right there, neither really wanted to say anything. But, they both have feelings for each other, so we think something is bound to happen eventually.

Keep in mind that this is mostly speculation, and that we both ship Soriel so this could be biased. Still, I hope you like this brought from me and auts14 and to the people who ship Asgore and Toriel, I definitely think that it would have been cute while it lasted. Sometimes, just events don't play out right, and things fall apart. We've both seen it happen. But they would have been cute together while it lasted.
