"Yay~ Sa wakas, natapos din." She declares while grunting.
We just finish organizing this shitty festival. All thanks to my sister, by the way. And yes, today is our School Festival. This will last for a week. So bothersome.
I don't know why have to celebrate this thing. If there's a reason, I don't want to know.
"Ancy,"
Automatically, my eyes target this girl beside me. "Hmm?"
"Pasyal tayo." She invites with a hopeful look.
We are here inside of the faculty room. All of the teachers are already outside—having fun, I guess.
"I don't wanna. Ikaw na lang." I say boringly, looking outside.
Such a sunny day, huh? From here, the whole university is decorated by bright color craps. They are also some rides in this place. The students prepared their proposed contests.
Since, everyone works their selves preparing for this plan, I just hope that nothing bad will happen.
"Ancy!" She throws a tantrum, prolonging my name.
I instantly look at her with my face sketches with confusion. Her face is muffles while pouting like a little brat girl.
Now, now. What's the problem with this one?
"Bakit ayaw mo?" She complains, frustration is killing her. "Pinaghirapan natin ito, kaya kailangan i-enjoy."
What's with her? She's unusually peppy today. Peppy? No. It is unsual for her acting like a child.
What a childish girl.
"You can't make me." I say firmly.
"Ancy~ Please." She pleads with her puppy eyes and her lips that slightly pouts.
I grimace. Sh-She's . . . damn. She's like Airelle.
Oh, crap. I'm in trouble. If she's like Airelle, I will not definitely resist her request.
I groan in mind. Damn.
"Ancy."
I glance at her. Can just I go out of this place?
"Ancy." She calls me again.
"Cut that, Natsumi." I grumble while closing my eyes. Aside from Airelle, why can't I resist this girl? "Fine."
"Fine, what?" She asks excitedly.
"Let's have some 'fun'." I emphasize sarcastically the word fun.
Immediately, she triumphantly stands up. "Ye—!!"
"But." I cut her. I rise from my seat and face her.
"Äre? Nani?" (Huh? What?) She speaks some unfamiliar words as her joy vanishes.
"You're gonna follow what I want."
"What? Ayoko nga." She objects while clasping her arms.
"Okay, hindi na kita sasamahan." I scoff while sitting down on the chair.
Let's see if you'll follow my request as well.
She sighs, sinking herself to the seat. "I want to play. But I don't want to be alone." She mutters to herself.
Watching her, I find myself smiling. What an entertaining kid.
"Maybe, I'll ask Nate!" She announces.
In just no time, my nerves starts to alarm.
"Right. I need to call Nate."
"H-Hey, Natsu—"
Damn. She's now the one who's shutting me.
"Goodbye!~" And then she dashes outside, leaving me here appalled with my thoughts.
"Great. Nathan." I mumble. Frustratedly, I run my fingers to my hair.
I close my eyes. I think, I'll just going to sleep this whole day.
I stand up. I'll just go to my room, here in this school. We are the owner, so it's fine to ask them to have my personal room.
I'm about to open the door when it burst open.
Baffingly, Natsumi appears.
I raise a brow. I thought . . .
"Ancy." She quietly calls me. Her voice is so down.
What happens now, huh?
"Nate's absent and he's not picking his phone." She tells me. What an irresponsible lover, huh? Leaving her here with me. "I also asked Ash and Elli, but they are busy with their clubs. I don't wanna ask your friends as well. Sean is a clingy guy, and the others, we're not that close."
"So?"
"So . . . You're the last hope."
The corner of my lips curls up. "Are you aware of my condition?"
She nods. "Susundin na kita."
I smirk at her as I pat her head. "Let's go then, Nat."
She smiles brightly. "Okay." Then she follows. She really likes being called of 'Nat'. I really don't get it. I presume, 'Nat' is her nickname, and what's the problem of being called 'Natsumi'? Is there special in nickname?
I take her to the Horror House. I start walking to the entrance when I notice that she is not with me. I look back and there she is.
I frown, at the same time, I'm amuse with her. "What are you doing there? Standing behind?"
"Pwede bang sa iba na lang?" She tells me sheepishly.
"Why? You're afraid?" I smirk as I tease her.
"Uh . . . Well, yeah. I-I mean, s-sort of." She answers in a skittish voice while playing with her thumbs. "I have a bad feeling."
Lumapit ako sa kanya. "Tara na." Then I take her hand. "Ikaw ang nagyaya kaya panindigan mo." I remark to her as I start dragging her.
"Ancy, naman!" She nags. "I told you that we should enjoy this day! Not to ruin the mood by entering this creepy house!"
"Heh. This will be fun. Trust me."
She doesn't answer back but to cedely follow me.
We enter the house, and it is so dark with the red effects and mannequins.
There is nothing to be afraid here. Everything in here are just man-made.
Natsumi let go of my hand. I quickly glance at her. "I'm fine." She whispers, giving me a weak grin.
I just shrug my shoulders. Maybe, she realizes that it is boring in here.
Kami lang ang nandito dahil kakabukas lang ng house.
"Stop?" I hear Natsumi says and I hurriedly look at her.
Hell? How can she reach that place where I do not sense her presence?
Sometimes, she's also weird.
She is just like a cat. Cat always staying silent; you can't hear their footsteps whenever they are walking. If they are in mood, they will purr to you as if they are asking for a sweet attention. And most of all, cats can sense you if you are staring at them.
Like Natsumi, she always catching me whenever I'm stealing a glance at her.
"Come here, Nat." I command as I start walking to her whereabout.
She ignores me while confusingly looking at the 'stop' sign.
Few steps before I can reach her,
"Ahk!! ~" She screams really loud as she falls inside the hole.
What the . . . fuck? Where the hell this hole came from?
"Owie. Sheesh. Where am I? Ancy!!" She yells for me.
Lumapit ako kung saan siya nahulog and the hole is damned closed!
"Hey! Natsumi! Are you okay?" I yell back.
"Ancy! I-ah-I'm fine . . . F-For now." She replies uncertainly.
"Hang on there, okay? I'm going to fix it." I tell her assuringly.
Shit. I have to think an idea to get her out of that shitty hole.
Damn. Who plans this joke? This ain't funny.
I am about to leave this place when I hear her screaming in fright. Her voice is so afraid as if she is going to cry.
My adrenaline rushes. What the hell is happening? "Nat! Hey! What's happening?"
"Ancy! Cockroaches! Rats!"
What? Where the hell do those cockroaches and rats doing inside? As far as I can remember, we decided to add the Horror House in this Festival, but we did not organize it wholly.
"Chance! Are you still there?"
"I'm here!" I answer her. "You'll be fine, Nat. Just wait for me."
"Please get me out of here this instant!" She demands in haste, ordering me like a servant. "I'm . . . I'm really scared! Ancy!!" She seeks for me again. She's expecting me to save her. And she squeals in horror again. Her voice is trailed, choked, and crooked.
She is crying, for argument's sake! And I hastily get furious. I can hear my blood pumping against my ear. Hearing her cries makes me go out-of-control.
I kick and stomp the door of the hole with a full force. In the very last powerful stomp, the door breaks. And luckily, it is only made of wood, it'll be a great trouble if it is made of metal.
I jump down as I promptly search for. And there, I see her in the corner, whimpering and sobbing while hugging herself.
I quickly run to her. "Natsumi." I worriedly call her. I hold the both of her arms, "Nat."
She archs her head up, looking me with her troubled eyes full of horror.
"Chance!" She cries and briskly pulls me into a tight hug. She buries her face to my chest as she clutches me more.
"Shh. I'm here. Please hush now." I comfortably say and I hug her back.
She is sobbing while breathing so hard. It squeezes my chest painfully. It's like her pains are also my pains. "Ease your feelings now, Nat. I'm sorry. Sorry." I cooes rubbing her back. "I should not brought you here." I apologize as I kiss her hair.
Slowly, her sobbings are stopping and her breathings are becoming normal. "Hang on, okay? I'll gonna take you outta here." I tell her while reaching for her forehead to give her a gentle-promising kiss.
She doesn't deserve to be here.
"Hello? May tao?" An unknown person calls. "May naririnig akong sumisigaw rito. May tao ba?"
"Yes! Help us! Please hurry!" I answer, yelling. What an opportunity.
"Oh! Sure, sure! Wait for me!" This stranger has a man voice. "I'll go get a ladder."
I sense the man goes away. Then I pay my attention to this lady who's hugging me so tight as if she is a lost child.
"Can you stand?" I ask. I raise a hand to brush her hair. I feel her sweat. She's so sweaty.
I pick my handkerchief from my pocket. "Face me, Nat." I command her as she complies immediately.
Then I gently wipe her forehead to her temples. I remove her eyeglasses and put them inside of my breast pocket. While wiping her face, I stare softly to her. How fragile she is.
"How's your feeling?" I inquire, putting the hair that covering her face to her ears. "Can you stand up on your feet?"
She doesn't answer but to sniffs and stiffles a small moan in her throat. She attempts to stand up but she just stumbles. Good thing, I catch her fast.
"Don't try, Nat. You can't." I speak. "Upo ka muna." I order her in a low voice and she obliges. I turn my back while I'm in a sitting position. "Sakay. I'll give you piggy back ride."
Wordlessly, she rings her arms around my neck. I stand up carefully and hold the back of her knees. She's quite heavy though, but I can manage her weight.
"Hello?" I look above the hole. The man a while ago comes back. "May nakita akong hagdan dito, ibababa ko na." He announces and I see him slides down the ladder.
"Nat, hold me tight, okay?" I instruct her and she adjusts her body to mine.
I slowly climb up to the ladders. A minute later when we reach the top. I gaze at the unknown guy. Ah, he is one of our classmates.
"You're in charge in here?" I speak to him.
"Yes." He answers, giving me a simple nod. "Si Miss Natsumi ba iyan?"
I face Nat at the side. Her head is resting to my right shoulder. "You're right."
"How is she?" He asks worriedly.
"I think, she's in the state of being shocked." My voice is low, dryly talking to him. "But she will be fine, trust me."
"I see."
"Ah, right." I utter, before I start walking. "Sabihin mo sa mga kasama mo, isara na ito. This place is a totally fucked up." I coldly stare to him. "And I command you to find who are the masterminds of this bullshit."
"Y-Yes. I will." He replies. "I'll report immediately to you as soon as I figure who they are."
"Good." I respond. "We have a business later." And then I walk towards the exit.
As soon as I reach the outside, a lot of eyes are staring at us.
I hiss quietly to myself. Such a pain in the neck. I see the gang on the side. Good thing, Nate is absent. I notice Sean is coming here.
I shot him a cold-ice glare, like a predatory gaze who's ready to kill instantly. He remains standing in his position with his pale face. I'm glad he gets frightened.
For the last seconds, I speak to his eyes, telling him that he shouldn't get in the way. Sighing, Sean nods.
I continue walking, feeling irritated with their gazes. I just don't care. I walk straightly to my secret place where I took her last time.
Once I reach the place, I notice that she is fast asleep. I carefully put her down, refraining to wake her up. I recline her body to the tree while holding her head for support.
But I think that she'll have a stiff-neck if ever she sleeps with that position. I quickly sit down beside her, then I adjust her body away, placing her head on my lap with her body on the grass ground. Hmm . . . Much better.
I stare to her face. She has a cherubic face without her glasses. I grab her glasses inside of my breast pocket. I'm actually curious what is the grade of her eyes, so I try wearing it.
But I facepalm.
"What a normal eyeglasses, huh?" I ask myself as I scoff. Why is she still wearing this? Just for style?
I return my stare at her face. She is sleeping peacefully. I agree with my little sister that she is like an angel. Even though, she has her glasses, she still looks so attracting.
I keep on staring. She looks so fragile and so pale. Whoever does this terrible prank, should pay a high price.
In spite of her wittiness and strong façade, I still can see something on her. She's like a sword that made of glass. No matter how strong and mighty is the sword, she would still break so easily like a glass.
I start brushing her forehead up to her hair with my fingers.
Her skin color is slowly returning—reddish ivory skin. She has the natural pinkish-red petal lips which are slightly parted right now.
Her cheeks are naturally red. She's not wearing any make-ups—well, she is not really wearing any kinds of them—but you can frame how beautiful she seems. I like how she blushes and I have already told
her that.
I do not know of how many hours, minutes, and seconds have passed and I just keep on staring at her.
Afterwards, she moves her body as she rubs her eyes. She blinks as well, trying to recognize this place.
When she figures it out, her eyes draw open and her face reddens like a ripened tomato. "Chance!" She exclaims while reflexively composing herself. "Ancy. . ." She calls softly at this time.
"Hmm?" I look at her, trying to keep my amused looks.
She swallows a lump on her throat. "I . . . I . . . Y'know . . ." She whispers, stuttering. "Man, how can I put this?" and hisses to herself.
"It's fine. My fault." I declare right away, before she can answer.
She lets out a big breath. "Nakakahiya, umiyak ako sa 'yo."
I grin sideways. "Honestly, you were so ugly when you cried." I jeer, even though she's not.
Her face burns to scarlet while staring at her knotted fingers. "Gano'n ba?" She murmurs.
I observe her more. She's in the state of embarrassment and kinda . . . disappointed. I guess?
I feel bit guilty as I stand up awkwardly. "Forget about that. You're not ugly, okay? I really like looking at you. Especially when you're smiling."
I blurt those words in spite of the shy expression etches to my face. I put my right hand inside my pocket and offer my left hand to her.
"Come. Stand up or I'm going to drag you." I threaten.
She immediately takes my hand and stands up. "Bossy Ancy." She mumbles.
"Glad you know, Nat." I smirk, weakly flicking her forehead.
"Tch." She imitates my hissing sound, but in a sarcastic way.
I secretly chuckle, she never fails to amuse me.
"You're gonna treat me now."
"Why is that?" She rasps, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, for you to know, Miss Natsumi. You slept really long on my lap as though they're are going to paralyze in a minute." I say arrogantly. "I never knew that your head is really heavy."
She pouts her lips and puffs her cheeks; she's glaring but not looking to me. "Fine. Para 'di na ako ma-guilty."
"Tara na. I'm starving to death." I whine then I walk fast, leaving her.
"Wait lang!" She yells as she chases for me. "Lagi ka namang nang-iiwan eh!"
"Ang bagal mo kasi eh!" I copy her accent.
"You're like a gay." She teases while laughing. "You're too handsome to be a gay, Chance. And seriously, don't do that again. It makes me shivers."
"Fine, fine." I laugh silently and pinch her cheeks.
"Aray, Ancy." She snaps in a baby tone while pouting.
I grin softly at her. "I'm sorry, you're just too cute." I tell her and she blushes immediately.
I chuckle again and put her eyeglasses back to her eyes. "There. Tara na." I invite and we walk together.
