Part 37: The Justice League?
CAITLIN'S APARTMENT
7:00 am
November 18th, 2018
Waking up bright an early Henry stretched as he sat up from the couch. Glancing at the time Henry speed-changed. Looking at his attire Henry smiled proudly of himself. He had to get to Star Labs by 7: 15 am sharp if he wanted to go through with his plan his Uncle Cisco came up with.
Looking at his mother's door Henry noticed that it was cracked open. Walking towards it Henry opened it wider peering in. Seeing his mother's sleeping form Henry smiled. Taking a few careful steps Henry approached her. Bowing down Henry placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Sweet dreams mum," whispered Henry.
Noticing a pad with a pen, Henry scribbled something down telling his mother about his whereabouts in case she got worried. Finishing up the note Henry raced towards Star Labs.

STAR LABS
7:15 am
Swerving on his computer chair Cisco began to type frantically on the keyboards. A gust of wind blew into the Cortex as a teenage boy stood before him in a black suit.
"You ready?" asked Cisco, glancing up at Henry.
Chuckling Henry strapped on his mask that belonged to 'Pursuit'. "I was born ready," Henry stood proudly.
Staring at him Cisco blinked wondering if he heard him correctly, "Whatever you say Speedy Jesus," snorted Cisco turning to one of the monitors as a message popped up on the screen.
"Ohhh! Bank Heist! This should be good!" squirmed Cisco in his seat.
"Where is it?" asked Henry looking at the computer screen that began to pinpoint the location.
"2001 Lighting Blvd," replied Cisco as Henry flashed out the room.
----------------------------------------------
Heading down the streets of Central City, Henry broke glass and set off car alarms in his wake. The speed force coursed through his veins as he tore through the city streets. Lighting raced around him as he began to go faster. He felt at peace with the wind flowing through his hair. This is what he was meant to do.
"Henry....Henry!" called Cisco trying to get the speedsters attention.
Lost in his thoughts Henry came to an abrupt stop. "What?" tapped Henry onto the side of his comms. "Did I miss it?" wondered Henry underestimating his powers.
"You overshot by about six blocks," replied Cisco sucking on a lollipop between his teeth.
"My bad," sighing Henry began to run back. Guess he really did forget just how fast he was.
Once arriving at the scene Henry skied to a stop inside the bank. Looking around Henry spotted innocent civilians kneeling with their heads down as 7 goons stood before them armed with guns.
"Hey everyone," waved Henry as the goons raised their guns at the speedsters presence.
Seeing them up close, Henry noticed the goons wearing masks that belonged to members of The Justice League.
"Whoa! You're not the Justice League," Henry sarcastically raised his arms. Looking between each other the goons wondered what the speedster was talking about. What is a 'Justice League'?
Stepping forward a goon with a Batman mask spoke. "Stand down?" ordered the man.
"Not a chance," snorted Henry. Charging their guns the goons aimed at Henry. Taking a closer look at their weapons, Henry noticed that they were advanced CCPD killer guns. Powerful enough to take out a cop and possibly a meta-human.
"I'm gonna say this once," said Henry in an authoritative voice. "Drop your weapons and no one gets hurt," said Henry looking between the goons.
"How about....no," growled the man in the Batman mask as every goon raised their gun at Henry.
Lightning danced across Henry's body as he stood in flash-time. Moving in slow motion Henry collected the guns along with the bullets from impacting innocent civilians. Standing back in the middle of the circle, Henry created an ice blast sending the goons flying.
"That was awesome dude," praised Cisco in his ear as he sipped on a slushy.
Sprawling across the floor the goon with the 'Batman' mask, the leader of the team, looked at the speedster who raised from his crouched position.
"That's it!" shouted the leader standing up off the floor. "Get him!" order the man outraged.
In an instant the goons got off the floor before charging at Henry. Pulling out their weapons from their jacket, 'Wonder Woman' and 'Aqua-man' attacked Henry.
"Wonder woman," said Henry twisting her arm causing her to drop the knife before pushing her out of the way.
"Aqua-man. Good to finally meet you guys," called out Henry catching his opponent's fist before sending him flying.
Staggering 'Wonder Woman' pulled out another knife about to stab Henry when he tornado kicked her sending her flying into a wooden desk.
"I thought you'd be more prettier in person," commented Henry looking at where 'Wonder Woman' laid unconscious on the floor.
"Henry! Oh my god," spoke up Cisco munching on some popcorn as he noticed that the young speedster had no filter.
Seeing the speedster distracted 'Batman' ran at Henry swinging a punch, only for him to dodge it.
"Batman!" exclaimed Henry as the goon furiously swung his arm at the speedster trying to hit him.
"Dude, what are you doing robbing a bank? You're a billionaire," Henry told him, catching his fist before throwing him into 'Martian Manhunter' who had a gun aimed at Henry.
Running at him a man in a 'Flash' mask began to fight Henry. Throwing punches and kicks the two speedsters (sort of) began to attack each other. Throwing a punch at Henry's face the young speedster began to bleed out. Anger by this Henry super speeded and tossed his 'father' across the room.
Landing on the floor the 'Flash' noticed one of the CCPD killer guns laying on the floor beside him. Grabbing it the 'Flash' stood up before aiming the gun at the speedster. Distracted by fighting 'Green Lantern' Henry barely noticed the gun aimed at him until the man shot the spot near his foot.
"Stand down kid," warned 'Flash' as his partner 'Green Lantern' was tossed to the side like a rag doll by the speedster.
Looking at him with an eyebrow raised Henry speeded towards him. With Henry now in front of him the man shakily adjusted his gun at the speedster. The speedster eyes glowed icy blue with lighting dancing within them.
"You're not my dad!" shouted Henry shoving the gun aside and punching 'Flash' right in the face knocking him out.
"Damn," grimaced Cisco watching the scene from the computer screen.
Growling 'Aquaman' ran at Henry again. Catching him Henry sent the man flying into a metal safe. Dazed the man looked up grudgingly as the speedster stood before him.
"Please don't be mad at me when you wake up," replied Henry creating ice cuffs onto his knuckles. Tilting his head 'Aquaman' looked at the speedster quizzically before he received a punch to the face effectively knocking him out.
With the speedster back to him 'Superman' who turned out to be a meta human began to turn into the man of steel (literally). Letting out a battle cry, 'Superman' ran at Pursuit. Hearing someone running at him Henry turned only to be met with a metal fist. With his fast reflexes Henry caught the fist before it impacted with his face.
"You have a metal arm? That is awesome, dude," commented Henry examining the meta human's arm. Looking at the speedster 'Superman' stood there in shock. He almost punched a kid?!
PARALLEL
"Uh, Henry look-," warned Cisco's voice coming through Henry's comms.
Suddenly 'Green Lantern' came flying at Henry carrying him away from 'Superman'. With his jet pack strapped on, 'Green Lantern' carried Henry around the bank.
"Out," finished Cisco wincing as he saw Henry being dragged in midair.
"You have the right to remain silent!!" yelled Henry banging on 'Green Lantern's' back trying to get him to drop him.
PARALLEL
"Lord help this child," prayed Cisco, eating a Twizzlers.
Channeling his inner frost, Henry froze the jetpack causing it to shut off. Plummeting to the ground Henry curled himself into a ball to weaken the impact of the fall. Rolling around on the ground Green Lantern' finally came to a stop as his back hit a nearby pillar.
Standing up off the floor Henry eyes began to glow icy blue. As his hair turned snow white frost emitted from his hands. In an instant Henry shot an ice beam at 'Superman' who was about to attack him. The frost traveled around 'Superman' until he was covered to his neck in ice. Turning back to 'Green Lantern' Henry froze his jet pack to the floor.
Closing his eyes Henry turned them back into their normal blue-green. "I know where on different teams and were fighting and all, but," snapped Henry looking at 'Superman'. "I love it dude! That's awesome," said Henry feeling like he can't get enough of the man of steel meta.
Growling 'Superman' broke out of his ice cube. Covering his face with his arms Henry prevented the broken ice pieces from hitting his face. Bending down 'Superman' lifted a heavy metal safe above his head. Tossing it 'Superman' sent the safe hurling at Henry.
"Oh, god!" ducked Henry avoiding the metal safe that impacted with the wall behind him.
Speeding around Henry picked up another metal safe.
"Hey, buddy, I think you lost this!" exclaimed Henry, throwing it back at the meta's head. With the metal safe covering his face the meta tried to shake it off. Noticing that he was distracted Henry sped towards him. Finally getting the safe off, 'Superman' was met with an ice beam that encased him in a huge ice shell.
Sighing Henry smiled at his creation. But his relief was cut short as 'Green Lantern' swooped up with him in the air.
"Oh come on!" exclaimed Henry trying to shake out of his grip.
Feeling drained from switching from both his speed and cold powers, Henry didn't feel like he had enough energy left in him to freeze the jet pack again. Fidgeting with his tech bracelet Henry looked for a way out. Noticing his web shooter still attached to his wrist Henry smiled as he got an idea. Shooting the web at the jet packs exhaust the jet pack shut off.
Landing on the floor with a thud, both Henry and 'Green Lantern' rolled around for a bit before they finally came to a stop. Jumping up Henry webbed both of 'Green Lantern' hands to a desk.
PARALLEL
"Is that jet pack carbon fiber?" asked Henry making his way towards the goon.
"Is this stuff coming out of you?" questioned 'Green Lantern' disgusted by the gooey web.
"I would explain the rigidity flexibility ratio, which got to say that's awesome-" said Henry starting to geek out.
"I don't know if you've been in a fight before but there's usually not this much talking," replied 'Green Lantern' cutting him off.
"My bad," shrugged Henry before he super speed punched "Green Lantern" in the face.
"Man that felt good," bounced Henry on his heels as he examined the scene. Flashing around the room Henry handcuffed or tied each goon. Cheers erupted from the crowd that hid cowardly behind the desk as the scene played out.
"Your welcome, your welcome," said Henry bowing for his standing ovation.
In a flash of yellow and blue lighting Henry left the bank. Stopping right outside Henry noticed some interesting figures standing on the roof of the bank. Squinting his eyes Henry noticed that it was two cops who were stripped down to their underwear tied to the flagpole on top.
"Uh, Hello, Uncle Cisco. Sh-should I go get those guys up there," pointed Henry above.
Hacking a nearby camera Cisco looked at what Henry was talking about.
"Well duhhh," replied Cisco like it was obvious. Nodding his head Henry brought the cops down fully dressed before depositing them into the bank to deal with the crooks.

CAITLIN'S APARTMENT
10:00 am
Waking up from her sleep Caitlin stretched in her bed. Yawning Caitlin grabbed a robe before heading towards her bathroom to start her day. Making her way out of her bedroom Caitlin rubbed her eyes as she passed the couch.
"Morning Henry," said Caitlin absentmindedly as she began to make breakfast.
"Henry," called out Caitlin looking at the couch. Seeing as Henry wasn't there Caitlin began to freak out. Running around the room Caitlin tried looking for her son.
"Henry! Henry!" yelled Caitlin finding no signs of him. Please don't be gone, prayed Caitlin thinking of the worst. That he had disappeared, erased from existence. Looking on the fridge and counter Caitlin searched for a note he might have left behind telling her of his whereabouts. Finding none, Caitlin rushed into her room looking for her phone. Spotting it on her nightstand Caitlin reached for it. Looking down Caitlin noticed a message on her notepad. Picking it up Caitlin examined it.
Mom,
Left early. Dad wanted me to meet him at Star Labs. See you later. Love you mum.
-xoxo, Henry
Sighing in relief Caitlin placed the notepad down. Huh, I didn't know Barry already told Henry about the training today, thought Caitlin. Shrugging Caitlin continued to get ready for work.
-------------------------------------------------
STAR LABS
10:45 am
Arriving at Star Labs Caitlin hopped into the elevator. Watching as the floor number descended Caitlin arrived at her floor. As the doors opened, Caitlin was met by a very sweaty Barry Allen who looked like he had just come from the training room.
"Hey Barry," greeted Caitlin with a smile. "Where's Henry?" asked Caitlin looking behind him in hopes that she'll spot her son.
"Ummm... Isn't he with you?" questioned Barry looking at her confused.
"What?! No. He told me that he was here with you," replied Caitlin looking at him confused.
"Well I haven't seen him. I've been here practically all morning," admitted Barry.
"Well if he's not with you, then where is he?" asked Caitlin as Barry shrugged.
Suddenly the pair heard a strange noise coming from one of the rooms.
"Did you hear that?" questioned Barry.
"Yeah. It sounded like it came from the Cortex," nodded Caitlin.
"But that's weird. I swear I was the only one here," mumbled Barry to himself.
"Maybe it's Henry?" suggested Caitlin.
"Maybe. But just stay behind me to be on the safe side," said Barry as the pair embarked in search of the strange noise.

CORTEX
11:00 am
After saving a cat from a tree, helping an old woman cross the street, and taking care of minor robberies, Henry ran down the streets of Central City.
"Henry. There's a fire on third and parkway," Cisco swirled in his chair.
"On it," answered Henry racing to the scene.
Typing on his computer Cisco tracked Henry's movement. Arriving at the scene Henry noticed the whole building on fire. Running into the flames Henry looked for any signs of life inside. Walking into the Cortex, Caitlin and Barry noticed Cisco on one of the computer chairs.
"You there yet?" asked Cisco, turning on the comm.
"What are you doing?" asked Barry as him and Caitlin stood at the doorway.
Quickly shutting off the computer screens Cisco turned towards the pair.
"Nothing," replied Cisco trying to act cool as he placed the lollipop back in his mouth.
"Who are you talking to?" inquired Caitlin walking towards him.
"No one," said Cisco, shaking his head as he began to get nervous.
"Were you talking to Henry?" asked Barry.
"Who?" asked Cisco like he's never heard that name before.
Scrunching her eyebrows Caitlin shared a look with Barry. This felt like déjà vu for some reason. Turning back to her friend Caitlin walked over towards him.
"You know, Henry. Our son. The one from the future who has both speed and cold powers. Ring a bell?" asked Caitlin as she stood in front of Cisco.
"No," replied Cisco with a lollipop in his mouth. "Haven't talked to him," said Cisco, shaking his head.
"Uncle Cisco there's fire everywhere!" yelled Henry's voice ringing throughout the Cortex. "Uncle Cisco, are you still there," called out Henry, still hearing nothing on the other end of the line.
Looking at the box that emitted Henry's voice, both Barry and Caitlin looked at Cisco with anger in their eyes as Cisco smiled nervously.
Suddenly a little boy emerged from the fire holding a toy bunny. "Dad! Daddy!" called out the little kid squinting through the flames. Seeing the young boy, Henry ran towards him picking him up before depositing him safely outside. Running back in Henry slowly started to bring people out of the burning building. After fetching the last person Henry ran away from the scene as the fire department showed up.
Skidding to a stop in an alleyway Henry leaned on a trash bin.
"Everybody's out. What else you got for me Uncle Cisco?" asked Henry with a smile as he tapped on his comm.
Walking over to the comm, Caitlin turned it on. "Henry it's mom," said Caitlin.
PARALLEL
"Heyyyy mom," said Henry nervously as his voice went up. He's so dead. Act cool, act cool, said Henry telling himself. "How's your day?" asked Henry, hoping to soften her up.
Moving in Barry spoke through the mic. "Get to Star Labs now," commanded Barry.
"Yes sir," answered Henry. He was so dead.
-------------------------------------------------
CORTEX
11:10 am
Arriving at Star Labs Henry was hit with an earful from both his parents.
"Have you both lost your minds?! Who do you think you are?!" yelled Caitlin looking between her son and her best friend.
"Well I'm the eyes and ears and he's the feet," answered Cisco gesturing towards Henry who rolled his eyes.
"This isn't funny," scowled Caitlin glaring at Cisco. "You shouldn't have been out there in the first place," said Caitlin pointing at her son.
"Barry said you weren't ready to be out on the field and you should have respected his wishes instead of jumping into action like some....superhero!" screamed Caitlin. "What if you had gotten hurt? Or worse, killed! Do you have any idea what that would do to me? Knowing that I could have saved your life if I was close enough?! What if I didn't reach you in time Henry! And you ended up bleeding to death! Do you know how devastated that would make me feel?! Knowing that I just got you back only to lose you in the end!" yelled Caitlin with tears running down her face as Henry bowed his head in shame.
"And you," said Caitlin pointing at Cisco. "How could you do this to me! How could you go behind my back and put my OWN son in danger!" shouted Caitlin in anger.
"Caitlin I was only trying to-" began Cisco trying to explain.
"I don't care what you were trying to do, Cisco!" yelled Caitlin cutting him off. "He's my son! What if he had gotten hurt! Huh?! Did you ever think about that?!" asked Caitlin looking at her friend who felt guilty.
"Mom. Please don't get mad at Uncle Cisco," pleaded Henry. "It was my idea," said Henry, taking the blame.
"You right," said Barry stepping in. "It's your fault," replied Barry looking at his son. "What the hell were you thinking dragging Cisco into your mess?!"
"I was only trying to prove a point," replied Henry looking at his father.
"And what point would that be? Huh?!" asked Barry looking at his son.
"That I have just as much right as Nora did to join you out on the field!" shouted Henry.
"Henry," began Barry sighing. He didn't want to talk about it.
"No dad! I am done with your stupid tests. Why can't I join you out on the field? The minute Nora showed up in this time you let her. Why are you holding back on me? Why won't you just let me-" began Henry.
"Cause you're just a kid!" shouted Barry causing the Cortex to go silent. "My kid," said Barry after he took a deep breath.
Looking at his father Henry scrunched his eyebrow in confusion."What does that have to do with any of this?" asked Henry with tears in his eyes.
"The thought of you getting hurt while on the field and it being my fault is......unbearable," replied Barry looking at Henry with tears in his eyes. "I can't lose you, Henry," explained Barry.
"Well maybe you should have a little more faith in me," replied Henry blinking away his tears before walking out of the Cortex.
"Henry! Henry!" called out Caitlin as her son figure began to disappear from view. Sighing Caitlin turned back to Barry. He was the only one who could fix this. He had to be the one to talk to Henry.
"Go get him," gestured Caitlin with a tilt of her head. Nodding his head Barry went in search of his son.
Looking back at Cisco, Caitlin felt guilty for yelling at him. "I'm sorry Cisco. I shouldn't have yelled at you," apologized Caitlin.
"It's alright," said Cisco, brushing it off. "It's just your mother's instinct kicking in," joked Cisco causing her to laugh lightly.
"But I swear if you ever do something like that again-" began Caitlin getting serious.
"I know, I know. I won't. I've learnt my lesson," said Cisco with his arms raised in defense.
"Good," smiled Caitlin, glad that even without her powers she can still be threatening.

SPEED LAB
11:20 am
Sitting down on the ledge above the speed lab, Henry peered down lost in thoughts.
.............It had been a couple of days since Barry had left. No one has heard from or seen him since. Caitlin laid in a coma as Henry stepped in providing for his family. Fighting crime while also filling in for his father at CCPD.
There have been no sightings of The Flash throughout the city. People started to get worried. Wondering where their scarlet speedster went. The public wanted answers. So standing outside CCPD in his Absolute Zero suit Henry waited for Captain Singh to introduce him.
"Alright calm down everyone," replied Captain Singh trying to calm the crowd so they can begin the press conference. He had just explained to the crowd that Flash left to deal with another issue that is important, and had left Absolute Zero in charge.
"I have a very special guest here with me today. So please help me welcome, Absolute Zero," introduced Captain Singh as the crowd cheered.
Entering the police department Henry was bombarded with questions. "Ok, ok, Uh. One question at a time," replied Henry disguising his voice.
Pointing to a woman in the crowd Henry waited for her question.
"Are you the head of Justice League?" questioned the woman.
"Uhhhh, no, I'm not," answered Henry pointing to another person.
"If Reverse flash comes back, what are you going to do?" asked another lady.
Finding the topic touchy Henry decided to change to topic. "Does anyone have any relevant questions?" asked Henry.
"Mike Winters CCPN. What is it like taking over from The Flash? Those are some big shoes to fill," said the reporter as Henry started to hyperventilate. He had always felt pressured to be as great as his father. Even growing up. People had always held high expectations for him, which he was scared of letting down.
"I'm a- I'm gonna go. Thank you all from coming," said Henry before he disappeared in a flash..............
.............Running around the city Henry slowed down as he glanced at the statue of his father's alter ego standing outside The Flash Museum. Will I ever be as great as him? wondered Henry.............
..........."Everywhere I go, I see his face," Henry looked down. "And the whole world is asking who's gonna be the next Flash and," paused Henry, wiping away his tears as Cisco closed his eyes.
"I don't know if that's me Uncle Cisco," exclaimed Henry running his hand through his hair. "I'm not The Flash," said Henry looking at his Uncle.
"You're not The Flash," agreed Cisco, shaking his head as he looked at Henry. "You're never gonna be The Flash," continued Cisco, making Henry look down, feeling defeated.
"No one can live up to Barry," said Cisco. "Barry was my best friend and he was a mess. He may have acted all big and noble but he was also human. He did a lot of things that he wasn't proud of," explained Cisco thinking about the speed force and the timeline. "But the one thing he was most proud of was having you. You changed his life Henry. You gave him a second chance to be better," said Cisco as Henry looked up.
"He's proud of you Henry. Don't feel like you have to change because of what anyone says," Cisco comforted him......................
PARALLEL
A gust of wind brought Henry out of his thoughts. Looking to his side Henry watched as his father sat beside him.
"All my life I've been told that I would do great things. Being the child of a superhero means that you are always in the spotlight. The fact that I'm The Flash's son, your son, means that a lot of people look up to me. They hold high expectations over me. It can be exhausting at times. The pressure can really get to you," said Henry turning towards his father.
"I've always tried to be as great as you. I've heard so many amazing stories of how you've saved people. How you've always put others before yourself. I just," said Henry taking a breath.
"I just want you to be proud of me," smiled Henry through his tears. "To be proud that I am your son. That's why I had Uncle Cisco help me today. So that I can prove to you that I am worth it," explained Henry.
"But no matter what I do. No matter how fast I run, I will never live up to your expectations. No matter which time frame I'm in," mumbled Henry. Even his father from his time hesitated about letting Henry out on the field.
Listening to his son Barry felt bad for yelling at him. "Look at me, Henry," said Barry tilting Henry's head so that he looked at his father.
"Don't ever feel like you have to change who you are, for me or anyone else. Do you hear me?" said Barry as Henry nodded his head.
"I am proud of you, Henry. I am so proud of you," said Barry with tears in his eyes. "You remind me so much of myself," he said running his hand through his son's hair. "It's why I was scared to let you out on the field. You have that same innocent optimistic glow I first had when I became a superhero. Always seeing the good in people. I can't imagine losing you," said Barry with a shake of his head.
"You won't lose me dad. I've been in this field longer than you have," added Henry.
"I know," sighed Barry. "It's just. I'm not the same Barry from your time. This is all so new to me. Being a father, having a son. It's a lot to take in," explained Barry as Henry nodded his head in understanding.
"But that doesn't explain my behavior, yesterday," began Barry. "I should have never treated you like that...like a servant," said Barry bringing up the stunt he pulled yesterday. "And I'm sorry Henry. Could you ever forgive me for that?" asked Barry.
Gazing at his father, Henry saw how deeply sorry he was. "Yeah. Besides I'm not a person to hold grudges," shrugged Henry.
"Thank you," exclaimed Barry hugging his son. Wrapping his arms around his father Henry sighed in relief, glad they were able to patch things up.
"And to make it up to you, I will start training you. Real training," emphasized Barry as they pulled away from the hug.
"Really?" asked Henry with a smile.
"Yeah," nodded.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," exclaimed Henry, jumping into his father's arms causing Barry to laugh.
"Alright, alright," said Barry patting his son on the back. "Not too tight," croaked out Barry as Henry started to strangle him in the hug.
"Oops my bad," said Henry sheepishly letting him go.
"It's ok slugger," said Barry with a smile not realizing what he said. Shooting his eyes back up at his father, Henry stared at him in shock.
"What?" inquired Barry.
"Did you just-you just-said," said Henry, at a loss for words as Barry creased his eyebrow. "Never mind," said Henry shaking his head. "How about we go out for some Big Belly Burgers, to celebrate," suggested Henry.
As if on cue Barry's stomach started to grumble making the two speedsters laugh. "You're speaking my language," smiled Barry. In a flash the pair left leaving a lightning trail in their wake. Looking at the scene from the monitors in the Cortex, Cisco and Caitlin hi-fived each other proud to see that the two speedsters made up.
