Part 35: Baby What?!

CAITLIN'S LAB

11:00 am

Working with his mother, Henry and Caitlin bonded over their love for science. They noticed that they had a lot in common. Both graduated top of their classes and became doctors. Their dream was to work at Star Labs. Caitlin as a biochemist and Henry as a chemist/CSI/superhero crime fighter. Finishing up their last lab report Henry set the folder on the side.

"Well it looks like we're done," Henry looked proudly at the stack of reports they had finished.

"Yup," smiled Caitlin. "Thank you so much Henry. I don't think I would have been able to finish this without you," said Caitlin gratefully.

"It was no problem. I actually had fun," smiled Henry glad he got some time to bond with his mother.

"Yeah it was fun," agreed Caitlin smiling.

"So what else do you need me to do?" smiled Henry glancing at his mother.

Looking at her son Caitlin frowned a bit. "That was actually my workload for the rest of the week," confessed Caitlin sheepishly.

"Oh," said Henry a bit down.

"But since we're done maybe we can go out to eat," suggested Caitlin trying to cheer him up.

"Sure, just give me a minute," replied Henry as Caitlin nodded her head putting away the lab files. Walking out of Caitlin's lab Henry tapped on his futuristic wrist tech pulling up Nora's location. The holographic tech showed Nora at the loft.

Flashing towards it Henry skidded to a stop at the door. Vibrating his entire body Henry made sure Nora couldn't see him as he stepped through the door. Looking around the room Henry found Nora lounging on the couch with a bowl of popcorn as a movie played in the background. Knowing that she was powerless Nora decided to enjoy the time she had there instead of causing havoc. Sighing in relief Henry excited the room before flashing towards Star Labs.

Skidding to a stop Henry caused Caitlin's hair to fly back at the impact of his speed. "Everything alright?" asked Caitlin looking at her son for confirmation.

"Everything's fine," said Henry smiling at her. "Let's go," said Henry, offering his mother his arm who gratefully took it as they made their way out of Star Labs.

TORO'S SUSHI- STAR CITY

11:30 am

Entering the well known sushi bar Henry & Caitlin began to dine in the different culinary dishes they had to offer. While talking to each other Caitlin learned some more things about the future, specifically about a Justice League that they were a part of.

"Wait, wait, wait, Batman's real?"  asked Caitlin, looking at her son astonished. "I thought he was just an urban legend," said Caitlin popping a sushi roll into her mouth.

"He's definitely real," mumbled Henry with his mouth full. "He's even cooler in person," replied Henry remembering his first encounter with the Caped Crusade.

"Do you think I'll get to meet him?" inquired Caitlin looking at her son.

"Maybe in the future," shrugged Henry, chugging down his water. Wiping his mouth on a napkin Henry excused himself before making his way towards the bathroom.

Eating the rest of her food a man in a black business suit began to observe Caitlin. He had been watching the pair for quite some time. He couldn't seem to keep his eye off the beautiful brunette. Something about her seemed to captivate him. Taking in a deep breath the man began to gather enough courage to walk up to Caitlin.

"Is this seat taken?"asked the man looking at Caitlin.

Opening her mouth to reply the man took the seat opposite of Caitlin. "I couldn't help but notice that you are quite a beautiful woman," the man continues gazing at Caitlin.

"Um, thank you," said Caitlin, wiping her mouth subconsciously for crumbs. Looking up Caitlin noticed that he kept staring at her.  Clearing her throat Caitlin spoke up. "Do I know you?" asked Caitlin looking at the man.

"Um no," said the man blinking back into the present. "I'm Isiah Mohammed, a professor at CCU," said the man sticking out his hand for her to shake.

[Isiah Mohammed played by Chadwick Boseman]

"Caitlin Snow, M. D.," replied Caitlin shaking his hand. After letting go of her hand Isiah smiled at Caitlin.

"So was that your nephew?" inquired Isiah looking at the woman.

Looking at the man Caitlin pondered on what to say. She couldn't just say that Henry was her son no matter how true it was. It was impossible for a 20 year old to have a 17 year old son. So with that Caitlin nodded her head in answer.

"Yes. He's my brother's son," said Caitlin. "I agreed to take him out to celebrate his big football win," added Caitlin.

"Well tell him I send my congrats" said Isiah.

"I will," smiled Caitlin.

"So anyways," began Isiah. "I was wondering if you would like to go out with me this Saturday?" wondered Isiah.

Looking at the man Caitlin was stunned. He seemed like a nice and genuine guy, but she wasn't sure she wanted a relationship especially after losing Killer Frost. Opening her mouth, Caitlin was about to answer his question when she felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Hey I'm back," smiled Henry, laying a hand on her shoulder. Noticing someone in his seat Henry moved to stand in front of his mother protectively. "Who's this?" asked Henry, sizing up the man in his seat.

"This," said Caitlin, placing her hand on Henry's back in comfort. "Is Isiah Mohammed, Isiah, this is my nephew, Henry," said Caitlin, emphasizing on it for Henry.

Looking at her Henry took the hint. "It's nice to meet you," gritted out Henry reluctantly.

"The pleasure is mine," smiled back Isiah. "Oh! And by the way congrats on your win," said Isiah standing up to allow Henry to take his seat back.

"Yeah, thanks," said Henry nonchalantly while finishing up the rest of his food so they can leave.

Turning his attention to Caitlin Isiah smiled widely at her. "So what do you say to me and you this Saturday night," Isiah asks in a happy tone.

Hearing those words Henry spitted out the water in his mouth. "What?!" exclaimed Henry, turning towards his mother furiously.

Ignoring her son's glare Caitlin turned back to Isiah. "As much as I would like to go, I can't," said Caitlin.

"Ok," he said sadly. "What about Sunday then?" suggested Isiah causing Henry to fume with anger. Can't this guy take a hint!

"She's not interested in you bozo! Move on!" yelled Henry looking at the man.

"Henry!" exclaimed Caitlin glaring at her son who was having a stare down battle with Isiah.

"I'm sorry Isiah," apologized Caitlin on Henry's behalf. "He must have eaten something bad," said Caitlin explaining the reason for Henry's outburst.

"Sure," huffed out Henry under his breath.

"I would really like to go out with you but I'm just not ready for a relationship," explained Caitlin.

"I see," said Isiah nodding his head disappointingly.

"I'm really sorry," apologized Caitlin again.

"It's no problem," Isiah shaking his head understandingly. Opening his jacket Isiah pulled out a card with his name and information on it. "Here's my number in case you change your mind," winked Isiah before walking away.

"Whyyyy he!" screeched Henry about to leap off the table going after Isiah but his mother stopped him before he could with one of those mother glares.

"Don't," replied Caitlin. "Sit down," ordered Caitlin, taking a sip of her drink as Henry reluctantly obliged to her request.

"Now, what Isiah said has got me thinking," began Caitlin setting her drink down.

"What do you mean? What did he say?" asked Henry, awaiting her answer.

"When he approached me he asked if you were my nephew. I said yes of course because it would be weird if I told him that you were my son considering our age difference," replied Caitlin gesturing between the two of them. "Which is why I think it is for the best that when we are out in public you refer to me as your Aunt, just so we don't raise any eyebrows," explained Caitlin looking at her son.

Listening to his mother Henry took in her words. She was right. He was just happy that she was here with him, to realize his little slip up. "Your right. That would be for the best," said Henry nodding his head in agreement.

"Great," said Caitlin, wiping her mouth on a napkin. "Check please," said Caitlin, getting a waiter's attention. "We should get back to Central City. I have to restock the fridge before we head back," informed Caitlin paying for the bill. Standing up the pair walked out the sushi bar. Turning a corner Henry looked both ways to make sure no one was looking before he flashed off towards Central City.

----------------------------------------

CENTRAL CITY

12:30 pm

Stocking up on pizza pockets, jello's, Twinkies, and other snacks Henry and Caitlin made sure they had enough to feed a herd of elephants. Working with speedsters means that you'll run out of food a lot. Before heading off to Star Labs Henry and Caitlin stopped by a well known deli that happened to be Caitlin's favorite sandwich shop.

Walking into the shop, Caitlin and Henry were greeted by Mr.Hernandez, the store owner. It turns out that Caitlin was one of his regulars and that he owned one of the best delis in Central City. Upon seeing Henry accompanying Caitlin, Mr.Hernandez asked Caitlin who he was. Looking at Henry Caitlin introduced him as her nephew who she was taking care of while his parents were out of the country. Smiling at the pair Mr.Hernandez waved goodbye to them as they exited the shop with the sandwiches.

Walking around a park the pair indulged in their sandwiches. It still tastes the same Henry thought munching on it.

"It's good, isn't it?" questioned Caitlin after a mouthful.

"Mhmm," replied Henry with his cheeks full like a chipmunk.

Once finishing their sandwich the pair made their way to Star Labs. Coming to a stop in the halls  Henry set his mother down. "Hey Henry could you please restock the fridge for me. I got to make sure I shut down this machine in my lab," said Caitlin anxiously.

"Sure," said Henry, grabbing the bags before making his way towards the kitchen.

Watching as Henry left Caitlin made a dash towards Cisco's lab.

"Cisco!" She called out getting the attention of said man who sat at his desk tinkering away at some parts.

"Hey, Caitlin. What's up?" asked Cisco, turning his full attention towards his friend.

"I need you to keep Henry busy while I go talk to Barry," replied Caitlin, getting straight to the point.

Looking at her Cisco blinked twice still registering what she said. She didn't even ask if he was busy. "I'm fine thanks for asking," said Cisco sarcastically as Caitlin rolled her eyes fondly. "Not that I'm complaining or anything," said Cisco raising his hands in defense, "believe me I love spending time with my godson but what is this about?" asked Cisco.

"I'm gonna meet Barry at CCPD and try to convince him to let Henry out on the field," explained Caitlin. "But I need you to keep Henry busy while I do that," pleaded Caitlin, giving him puppy dog eyes similar to Henry's.

Looking into her eyes Cisco couldn't resist saying no to her. "Fine," groaned Cisco giving in.

"Yesssss," squealed Caitlin, hugging him. "Thank you so much" said kissing both sides of his cheeks in appreciation.

"Alright, alright," said Cisco, pushing her off of him gently. "But why don't you want Henry knowing?" asked Cisco looking at her.

"It's not that I don't want Henry knowing. It's just.....I want to be able to talk to Barry without him feeling like he's forced to agree with me just cause Henry is looming around," explained Caitlin as Cisco nodded his head in understanding. Grabbing her purse Caitlin began to make her way out.

"Thanks again Cisco," waved Caitlin on her way out.

"Yeah, yeah" said Cisco brushing her off. "Good luck!" shouted Cisco.

-------------------------------------------

After restocking the fridge Henry made his way towards Caitlin's lab.

"Mom?" called out Henry walking into the lab. Looking around Henry saw no signs of his mother.

"Hey Henry. There you are," said Cisco running into the lab.

"Hi Uncle Cisco. Is everything alright?" asked Henry, noticing the man out of breath.

"Everything's fine," assured Cisco, catching his breath. "I was just wondering if you wanted to have a Star Wars marathon?" asked Cisco.

Seeing as he had nothing to do Henry agreed. "Sure," shrugged Henry.

"Great!" exclaimed Cisco. "I'll get the movie and you get the snacks," commanded Cisco.

"Aye, aye Captain," saluted Henry getting right to the task.

------------------------------------------

CCPD

12:55 pm

Walking into CCPD Caitlin carried a tray full of coffee. Standing by the entrance Caitlin looked at the commotion of officers walking by. Spotting a familiar face Caitlin called upon the person.

"Joe!" called out Caitlin getting the man's attention.

"Hey Caitlin what brings you by?" questioned Joe looking at the woman.

"Oh, I was just walking by and thought I'd stop by and treat our finest heroes with some coffee," presented Caitlin handing Joe a cup of coffee.

"Why thank you," said Joe, accepting the hot drink.

"Your very welcome," nodded Caitlin. Looking around the department Caitlin tried to spot a familiar green-eyed CSI.

"Looking for someone," commented Joe, noticing her looking around.

"Uh, yeah. Have you seen Barry?" questioned Caitlin.

"He's upstairs," nodded Joe, directing his head upstairs.

"Thanks," said Caitlin gratefully before making her way upstairs.

Climbing up the set of stairs Caitlin paused at the door. Looking in Caitlin saw Barry crouched over his microscope observing something he found from the crime scene. Fixing her hair Caitlin knocked on the door.

STAR LABS LOUNGE

12:56 pm

Flashing into the room Henry laid some snacks on the table before flashing out of the room for some more. Starting the movie Cisco made his way towards the couch as a gust of wind stopped beside him. Plopping down on the couch Henry put his feet up on the table as he relaxed with a bowl of popcorn in his hand. Leaning over Cisco grabbed a fist full of popcorn.

"Hey!" complained Henry hugging his bowl of popcorn protectively.

"Oh shush. It's starting," said Cisco as the opening scene came on. Relaxing Henry watched the screen. He had already seen this movie like a 100 times thanks to Cisco. As the time went by Henry began to wonder where his mother went.

"Hey Uncle Cisco," said Henry, getting his attention.

"Hmm," replied Cisco, eyes still trained on the TV.

"Where did mom go?" asked Henry.

"She went to talk to your father about letting you out on the field," replied Cisco absentmindedly.

"Really?" said Henry, a bit surprised that she would do that for him.

Pausing the movie Cisco turned his attention to his nephew. "Yeah, she didn't tell you cause she wanted to do it alone," explained Cisco. Hearing that his mother took the time to talk to his father about letting him out on the field Henry couldn't help but smile. He really did have the best mother in the world.

"Now will you please shut up. Baby Ewok is about to come on the screen," screeched Cisco excited to see the little creature.

"Phff, please Baby Yoda is wayyy cuter," said Henry taking a sip of his drink.

"BABY WHAT?!" screamed Cisco looking at Henry who choked on his drink by the sudden outburst.

------------------------------------------

Hearing a knock at the door Barry whipped around to see Caitlin.

"Cait," breathed out Barry looking at said woman.

"Hey," Caitlin called, walking in. "I brought you some coffee," she placed the drink on his desk.

"Thanks," said Barry, taking a sip of the coffee before sighing in content. "What brings you by?" Barry asked as Caitlin walked around the lab.

"Oh I just thought I'd stop by and see how you were doing," said Caitlin, deciding to start off with some small talks before getting right to the point.

"Really?" asked Barry, not believing her.

"Yup," nodded Caitlin. Looking at her Barry had some doubts. Like it wasn't her full intention. So taking a couple steps Barry stood in front of her.

"You missed me that much?" teased Barry with a smile.

"You could say that," said Caitlin looking at him.

Staring into her hazel brown eyes Barry looked at Caitlin to see if she was telling the truth. Finding his gaze burning Caitlin turned away.

"Why are you really here?" pried Barry.

"I wanted to talk to you about letting Henry join you on the field," confessed Caitlin looking directly into his eyes.

"Cait," began Barry not wanting to talk about it.

"No Barry," said Caitlin, cutting him off. "Just hear me out, please," pleaded Caitlin looking at him with puppy dog eyes. Looking into her eyes Barry found it hard to resist her, so with a nod of his head Barry let her proceed.

"Henry has potential. You and I have both seen that the minute he stepped foot in this time. He is capable of doing the things any normal speedster can do. So he made a mistake one time. That doesn't give you the right to not let him join you on the field," said Caitlin seeing right through Barry. She knew that he only told Henry he'll think about it so he'll shut up.

Opening his mouth Barry was about to argue back when Caitlin cut him off. "And don't even try to deny it," said Caitlin with a piercing gaze.

Sighing Barry leaned back against his desk. "I can't let Henry join me on the field," confessed Barry.

"Why?" asked Caitlin looking into his sea green eyes.

"Because I can't lose him," said Barry, making Caitlin a loss for words. "Being a superhero is dangerous. You're always putting your life on the line, never knowing if you'll make it out alive. I know this cause I go out there risking my life everyday not knowing whether it'll be my last run. It's not a life for a kid, especially my own son. And if I can prevent him from doing it I will!" yelled Barry expressing his opinion. Taking a deep breath Barry looked at Caitlin who stared at him in shock.

"The thought of Henry getting hurt while on the field and it being my fault is unbearable. I can't lose him Cait," said Barry with tears in his eyes.

"You won't lose him," said Caitlin walking towards him.

"How do you know that?" pleaded Barry with his eyes.

"I don't," sighed Caitlin truthfully. "But I have faith in our son," said Caitlin, running a soothing hand down his arm. "He's so much like you. Yearning to be a hero like you," she said looking into his sea-green eyes. "All I'm asking is for you to give him a chance, Barry. Let him prove to you that he's worthy. He's stronger than you think," said Caitlin trying to persuade him.

Gazing into her eyes Barry noticed Caitlin was giving him the sad puppy dog eyes that Henry would give him. No matter how hard he tried he knew he couldn't say 'no'.

"Fine," sighed Barry, giving in.

"Thank you," squealed Caitlin, hugging him in victory.

"Alright, alright," said Barry patting her back. "I'll only let him join if he passes my test," replied Barry making a mental note to think of a way he can test Henry.

Pulling away from the hug Caitlin gave Barry a warning look. "Relax. It'll be fine," said Barry assuring her.

"It better be," joked Caitlin although she was also half serious. Chuckling Barry nodded his head in affirmation.

"Well that's great! I can't wait to tell Henry," said Caitlin excitedly clapping her hands together. "I better go then and let you get back to your work," she said, gathering her stuff.

As she was exiting his lab Barry called her name. "Yeah," replied Caitlin, turning back around. "Tell Henry to meet me at the lab tomorrow morning. And thanks for the little pep talk," smiled Barry.

"Your welcome," smiled back Caitlin. "After all, someone's got to knock some sense into you once in a while," shrugged Caitlin, causing Barry to laugh.

STAR LABS LOUNGE

1:36 pm

"I love the future," laughed Cisco munching on popcorn as he watched The Mandalorian playing on the screen with Henry. After much pleading on Cisco part Henry had agreed to show his Uncle Baby Yoda. After seeing one picture of the cute little creature Cisco had begged Henry to watch the entire show. So with a little tweak of his futuristic tech bracket Henry was able to project the show onto the screen. As they watched the show footsteps began to approach the pair.

"What in the world is going on?" asked Caitlin looking at their little set up.

"Mom! Your back," flashed Henry running to give her a hug.

"Yeah I'm back," said Caitlin wrapping her arms around her son. "What are you two doing?" she said, looking at the screen projecting a man in full body armor.

"Were watching The Mandalorian. The future is so cool," squealed Cisco, continuing to watch the show.

"So how was it? Did Dad agree to give me a chance?" asked Henry pulling away from the hug.

"How did you know-," began Caitlin before noticing Cisco shrinking down in his seat from the corner of her eyes.

"Of course," said Caitlin rolling her eyes knowing Cisco would let it slip.

"So did he?" asked Henry with pleading eyes.

"He did," confirmed Caitlin.

"Yes! Thank you, thank you so much," said Henry gratefully hugging his mother tightly.

"I know I'm the best," boosted Caitlin, hugging him back.

"Can you both be quiet? I am trying to watch a show, jhezz," shushed Cisco.

Looking at each other Caitlin and Henry shrugged before sitting on the couch. Grabbing some snacks the trio continued to watch the show.
