Part 17: Party
LATER THAT DAY......
Caitlin's Apartment
Standing by her vanity putting on a pair of earrings, Caitlin was interrupted by a gust of wind. Turning around in the direction of the gust of wind, Caitlin was met with her son.
"Henry," exclaimed Caitlin seeing him in his super suit.
"I'm not late, am I?" asked Henry glancing at the clock on the wall. Sighing in relief Henry noticed that it was only 5:30 pm.
"No your not," replied Caitlin bending down to pick up a big bag of clothes on the floor. "Now hurry up and get changed," said Caitlin pushing Henry in the direction of her room with the bag in his hand.
"What! Wait, what's this?" asked Henry wondering what on earth was he carrying and why was it so heavy.
"It's some of Barry's old clothes that don't fit him anymore," replied Caitlin pushing Henry into her room. "Now get changed," commanded Caitlin.
"Ok, ok," replied Henry giving in as he walked into her room to change.

Barry's Apartment
"I can't believe you decided to throw a party without my permission!" yelled Iris from across the room.
"It's for my son Iris," said Barry trying to reason with her.
"Yeah the one you had with Caitlin," replied Iris bitterly.
"What is that suppose to mean?" questioned Barry getting angry.
"Nothing!" replied Iris throwing her hands up in the air. "It's just..., you didn't throw a party to celebrate Nora's arrival," said Iris throwing daggers into Barry's eyes.
"That's because Nora wasn't only staying with us for a week," replied Barry as Iris stared at him speechless.
"Look, Iris," sighed Barry placing his hands on either side of her shoulder. "Please just let me do this for Henry. He's my son. I want to get to know him more, even with the little time that I have left with him," replied Barry trying to let her see his side of the story. "Please Iris, for me," pleaded Barry with puppy dog eyes.
"Fine," sighed Iris giving in.
"Thank you," replied Barry kissing her forehead before they were interrupted by a gust of wind coming from the kitchen.
"Got the cake," said Nora holding up the box of cake in her hands.
"Great!" replied Barry smiling at her, "Thank you".
"Yeah, no problem," replied Nora through gritted teeth, angry that she had to get 'Henry's cake'.
Suddenly, a knock at the door sounded through the loft.
"Ooh! Our first guest," replied Barry cheerfully. Straightening his tie at a mirror nearby, Barry went to answer the door.
"Hey guys," said Barry stepping to the side to allow Joe and Cecile through (Jenna is with a babysitter).
"Hey Barr," replied Joe giving his son a hug.
Running a hand across her dress straightening it, Iris went to go meet them.
"Hey dad" replied Iris pulling her father into a hug.
"Hey baby girl," said Joe reciprocating the hug.
"Nora hi," replied Cecile hugging her after Barry.
"Hi," replied Nora wearing ripped jeans and a sweater.
"So, where is this new speedster I've heard so much about?" asked Cecile looking around the room. Ever since she heard about Henry, she has been dying to meet him.
"He should be here soon," said Barry glancing at a clock on the wall that showed that it was 5:45 pm.
Another knock sounded at the door making Barry flash over towards it. Opening the door, Barry was greeted by an overly excited Cisco and Ralph. Behind them was Harry who looked ready to kill.
"Let's get this party started!" shouted Ralph walking in carrying two bottles of champagne in each hand.
"Where's my godson?" questioned Cisco looking around for Henry.
"He should be here soon," replied Barry looking at the time again.
"Good," grumbled Harry. "That's the last time I get into a car with these two," said Harry glaring accusingly at Ralph and Cisco.
"Awwh, you know you love us," said Cisco pinching Harry's cheek making the genius slap his hand away.
"Ouch!" replied Cisco holding onto his hand.

Caitlin's Apartment
Walking out of his mother's room a couple of minutes later, Henry began to straighten down the suit he was wearing. Hearing the door opening, Caitlin turned around to face her son. Staring at him with her mouth agape, Caitlin looked at her son speechless.
Henry wore Barry's old suit from Season 1
"It's too much isn't it?" questioned Henry looking at his mother who just stood there staring at him, making Henry rethinking his decision. "You know what, I think I'll go change," babbled Henry turning around to walk back into the room.
"No, wait!" cried Caitlin grabbing onto her son's arm before he disappeared back into her room.
Slowly turning back around, Henry was met with an approving smile from his mother. "You look very dashing," commented Caitlin running a hand down his suits sleeve getting rid of any creases.
"Thank you," replied Henry looking deep into his mother's eyes. "And you look as beautiful as ever," commented Henry making Caitlin look at the floor as she smiled at his comment. Looking back up, Caitlin couldn't help but be content at how cute her son looked.
"Awwwh, my little man is all grown up," cooed Caitlin pinching Henry's cheeks.
"Mom," groaned Henry like a child, trying to get her hands away from his face.
"What?! It's my first time doing this, let me enjoy it," complained Caitlin straightening Henry's red tie.
"Well could you enjoy it a little faster, we're going to be late," replied Henry glancing at the time that said 5:55 pm.
"Oh! Right," said Caitlin grabbing her purse. "Just gotta grab my-" she said reaching for something on her counter before a flash of lighting interrupted her grabbing the object. "Keys," ended Caitlin look at her son who stood by the doorway dangling her car keys in the air.
"Looking for these," questioned Henry with a smirk playing on his face.
"Give me back those," replied Caitlin jumping up and down trying to grab her car keys, as Henry laughed at her antics holding the keys up higher.
"Ah, ah, ah," said Henry with a smile on his face as Caitlin huffed out in response, giving up. "We won't be needing these," replied Henry slipping the set of keys into his pants pocket.
"Oh come on Henry," replied Caitlin with a hand on her hip, "I am perfectly capable of getting places on my own".
"I know," replied Henry nodding his head. "But who would want to drive anywhere when they have their own personal Uber," smirked Henry gesturing to himself.
"Your my personal uber driver now?" snorted Caitlin with an amusing smile on her face.
"Yup," replied Henry stepping forward towards his mother smiling at her.
"You're not going to give up, are you?" questioned Caitlin already knowing the answer to it.
"Nope," replied Henry shaking his head. "The Henry Express awaits you," said Henry holding his arms out towards her.
Sighing in response, Caitlin wrapped her arms around her son's neck, as Henry bent down to pick her up bridal style. "Hold on," replied Henry before they were gone in a flash.

Barry's Apartment
Coming to a stop outside the door to his father's apartment, Henry set his mother down. Running a hand through her hair, Caitlin began to fix her appearance as Henry stared at the door. Turning her head to the side, Caitlin noticed that Henry's hair was a little windswept and his tie was a little out of place and began to fix it.
"Ready to go?" asked Caitlin looking at her son.
"One second," replied Henry flashing away and returning back a second later with 3 bouquets of flowers in his hand.
"Flowers?" inquired Caitlin looking at Henry.
"Yeah. There for 3 of the most amazing women in my life," replied Henry handing one of the bouquets to her. "This one's for you," said Henry with a smile on his face. "A beautiful woman such as yourself deserves flowers, and much more," replied Henry looking deep into his mother's hazel eyes.
"Awwh, Henry," replied Caitlin accepting the flowers and leaning down to give her son a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you," she said smiling at how sweet her son is.
"Your welcome," replied Henry walking over towards the door to knock on it, while Caitlin stood in the back smelling the beautiful bouquet of flowers. Hearing a familiar swoosh sound on the other side of the door, the door opened to reveal Barry in a suit and tie.
"Hi dad," replied Henry smiling at his father.
"Henry, you made it," said Barry with a grin on his face as he pulled his son into a hug making Caitlin smile at her boys.
Pulling away, Barry turned his head to the side to see Caitlin.
"Hey Cait," replied Barry looking her over. "Wow, you look great!" complemented Barry pulling her into a hug.
"Thanks," replied Caitlin. "And you don't look too bad yourself, Mr. Allen," commented Caitlin as they pulled away from the hug.
"Can we come in?" inquired Henry looking over Barry's shoulder to see everyone inside.
"Yeah, yeah, of course," replied Barry stepping to the side. "Please come in," said Barry allowing Caitlin and Henry through. Walking through the door, Caitlin and Henry stopped in the middle of the room as everyone turned around to see them.
"Flowers for me," inquired Ralph looking at Henry's hands. "Oh you shouldn't have," joked Ralph walking towards Henry with a smile on his face.
"They're not for your Ralph," said Henry pulling the flower away before he could grab them.
"Henry!!!" squealed Cisco in a high-pitched voice tackling his nephew in a hug.
"Woah, Woah, Woah," said Henry stumbling back a bit at the impact. "It's nice to see you too Uncle Cisco," laughed Henry at his uncle's antics hugging him back.
Pulling away, Cisco studied Henry's outfit. "I haven't seen that outfit since the Original Team Flash," exclaimed Cisco smoothing down the suit's sleeves.
"It's not too much, is it?" asked Henry looking at his uncle for approval.
"No, it's fine," replied Cisco assuring him. "It suits you," smiled Cisco.
Smiling back at him, Henry went to greet Harry and Joe with a hug, as Nora watched in the back annoyed by Henry's presence. Turning back around, Henry went to face Cecile for the first time.
"So you must be the infamous Henry?" replied Cecile stretching her hand out to greet him.
Taking her hand in his, Henry gave Cecile's hand a little kiss. "Henry Joseph Allen," replied Henry winking.
"Oh!" exclaimed Cecile a bit taken aback by the gesture. "He's quite the charmer, like Barry," said Cecile sharing a look with Joe, who just rolled his eyes fondly at his grandson.
"These are for you," replied Henry handing a bouquet of flowers to her.
"Thank you," said Cecile excepting the flower gratefully.
"It's quite an honor to meet you again, Mama Cecile" replied Henry smiling at her, making Cecile look at him with wide eyes.
"Mama Cecile?" inquired Cecile looking at the young man.
"Oh, yeah! That's what I call you in my time," replied Henry clarifying. "But I guess you're just known as Cecile Horton West in this time," added Henry making Joe choke on his drink.
"WEST?!" replied Cecile shocked and a little happy by the new discovery.
"Yeah, West," said Henry looking at her confused. "Aren't you already," said Henry glancing at Papa Joe who was frantically shaking his head back and forth trying to get Henry to stop talking. "Oh!" replied Henry seeing his mistake.
"We get married in the future," said Cecile looking at Henry and then Joe.
"Yeah," replied Henry before looking down at the floor. "I'm sorry. I just assumed you guys were already married," replied Henry apologetically. He saw how close Joe and Cecile interacted with one another and just naturally assumed they were married.
"Oh you don't need to apologize," replied Cecile placing a hand on Henry's shoulder. "It's a common mistake," said Cecile smiling at the young man.
Smiling back at her, Henry looked to the side at his Papa Joe. "Jeez, Papa Joe what are you waiting for," said Henry with a sly smile on his face. "If I were you I would have already put a ring on it," joked Henry making Cecile laugh.
"I like him," replied Cecile smiling at Henry.
"You're still the district attorney, right?" inquired Henry looking at her.
"Yeah, of course," said Cecile looking at her future grandson.
"Good, cause I have a couple questions for you," replied Henry getting into a conversation with his grandmother.
--------------------------------------
Some time passed before Henry realized someone was missing. Excusing himself from his conversation with Cecile, Henry went to go talk to his father who was in a conversation with Cisco.
"Hey, dad," said Henry looking around the room. "Where's Aunt Iris? I have some flowers for her," replied Henry holding up the boutique of flowers. He hadn't seen Iris since he got here.
"She should be up in her office," replied Barry pointing upstairs. "The second door on your left," said Barry as Henry nodded his head, heading upstairs in search of his Aunt.
-----------------------------------------
Iris sat by her desk typing on her computer. She was trying to finish up her article on the latest metahuman Team Flash had faced. Hearing laughter coming from downstairs, Iris sighed leaning her head on her hand.
She didn't want to be a part of the commotion celebrating Henry's arrival. She didn't like the kid in the first place and wished he had never shown up in her life.
Lost in thoughts, Iris barely noticed the presence of someone walking into her office. Walking up behind his Aunt, Henry lightly tapped on Iris's shoulder making her jump in her seat.
"Oh my god! You scared me," replied Iris clutching onto her heart.
"Sorry," replied Henry apologizing. "I brought you some flowers," said Henry holding up the flowers shyly.
"Uhhhhh......thank you," said Iris skeptically taking the flowers out of Henry's hand and setting it onto her desk.
"I wanted to apologize to you," said Henry making Iris turn around to look at him.
"I know that it must be hard for you to find out that your husband has a child with another woman," said Henry as Iris swallowed her anger at the thought of it. "But," continued Henry, "I hope that you can still open up to me," said Henry looking into his Aunts eyes. He didn't want to fight with her anymore. He missed his talks with his aunt, especially since she died in his time.
"Henry-," replied Iris closing her eyes. She couldn't look at him straight in the eyes, knowing that he was Barry's son. He looked so much like his father, that it hurt her. He even had the kindness of his mother that made Iris heartbreak, even more, knowing that Barry cheated on her in the future.
"Please Aunt Iris," pleaded Henry looking at her in the eyes. "Can't you just put your differences aside for one minute and actually get to know me!" replied Henry looking at her.
"I know that your hurting because of what dad did to you," said Henry taking a step towards her, "but you don't have to take your anger out on me," replied Henry with hurt flashing through his eyes. Looking up, Iris noticed the tears that were threading to spill from Henry's eyes.
"Believe it or not we used to be the best of friends," laughed Henry through his tears. "You were always there for me through everything," said Henry looking into Iris's eyes. "From me taking my first steps, to learning how to ride my bike, even to the time I got into my first fist fight," smiled Henry at the thought.
"You were there with me through the good and the bad times, being my beacon of hope through it all," replied Henry looking at Iris making her smile a little.
"I remember a time where I came running over to your house when I was around 5," said Henry looking at the floor as he relived the moment. "I came running to you with tears streaming down my face, telling you about how mean the kids were at school. They kept calling me a freak because I was different than them, and you just held me comforting me through it all. You told me that just because I was different doesn't make me a freak," replied Henry looking into Iris's hazel eyes.
"That I was special and I shouldn't listen to what other people say," replied Henry. "And that everyone should look more for who people are in here," replied Henry touching his heart, "not for how they look on the outside," said Henry looking at Iris.
"Which is all I'm asking of you," pleaded Henry looking at Iris with tears in his eyes. "For you to look at me for who I am in here," replied Henry placing a hand over his heart, "not for who my parents are," said Henry with a single tear falling down his face.
Looking up at him, Iris could see the pain and hurt in Henry's eyes, making her regret how she was treating him. She shouldn't be taking her anger out on him, if anyone it should be Barry. After all, Henry was just an innocent child who was the product of two people's love.
"Please Aunt Iris," replied Henry looking at Iris with tears running down his face snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Ok," replied Iris nodding her head. "Thank you," sighed Henry in relief wiping away the tears from his face with his suit sleeve. Pulling out a box of tissues from her desk, Iris offered Henry some tissues. "Thanks," said Henry gratefully accepting the tissue to clean his face.
Collecting himself together, Henry tossed his tissues into the trash before turning his attention towards his aunt. "What are you working on?" replied Henry looking over Iris's shoulder.
"Um, a report on the latest meta attack," replied Iris looking at her article.
"Do you mind if I read it," replied Henry looking at her for approval.
"No, not at all," said Iris pushing the laptop closer towards Henry so he could read it.
After reading the article at super speed, Henry took a step back from the laptop. "Ok," replied Henry blinking his eyes rapidly trying to get his eyeballs to stop vibrating. "So far I would say it is very well written, but what I would suggest is that you voice your opinion on how you feel about the topic towards the end. And end it off with a question that gets people thinking and wanting to know more," suggested Henry as Iris looked at him curiously. "It's something you did in my time that made you well known," said Henry with a shrug.
"Ok," Iris said nodding her head as she took Henry's words into account.
An awkward silence fell upon them, making Henry clear his throat. "I'm going to go see what everyone else is doing," replied Henry beginning to walk out of Iris's office.
"Ok.I'll see you downstairs," replied Iris with a smile on her face which Henry returned before he walked out of her office, closing the door.
Turning back towards her article, Iris began to type up the little bit she had left. Finishing up her article Iris was about to send it to the publisher before she remembered what Henry had said.
"It's something you did in my time that made you well known," said Henry's voice repeating in Iris's head.
Sighing Iris began to think long and hard before making her decision. No other reporter that she knew had done it before. It would surely make her stand out from the rest. What if this is her time to shine, to make her mark.
Balancing the pros and cons in her head Iris decided to follow Henry's advice. Life's a game of chance, she thought before sending the article in and making her way downstairs.
------------------------------------------
Henry made his way downstairs to be greeted by his family members who were in the living room.
"Henry," replied Ralph grabbing the attention of everyone in the room who turned to look at the young man.
"Yeah," replied Henry making his way down the last couple of stairs.
"I wanted to ask you a question," said Ralph walking over towards him.
"What about?" inquired Henry looking at him confused.
"Well you know how you told us that you were a doctor/CSI/chemist/hacker," said Ralph looking at Henry.
"Yeah," replied Henry nodding his head.
"If you became all of that, at such a young age," said Ralph looking at Henry. "What did Nora become?" he asked looking at him curiously.
"I became a news reporter," piped up Nora answering for herself.
"A news reporter?" repeated Ralph wondering if he had heard wrong.
"Yeah," replied Henry nodding his head. "She became a reporter just like her mother," said Henry looking at Ralph who stood there in shock [sorry my Nora did not become a CSI].
"Wow! Well your life must suck," mumbled Ralph under his breath, taking a sip of his drink.
"How is it possible that you are here?" said Cisco voicing his thoughts. He had always wanted to know how it was possible for Henry to be born with both speed and cold powers.
"Well, you know...," said Henry with a smirk playing on his face. "When two people love each other very much they do this thing called se-" said Henry before Cisco interrupting him.
"I know what sex is kid," replied Cisco rolling his eyes. "I just wanted to know how it was possible for you to be born with both speed and cold powers," clarified Cisco.
"Oh! Well I'm not too sure," replied Henry scratching the back of his neck nervously. "My best guess is that when mom and dad were...conceiving me," swallowed Henry at the thought of it. "They might have been using their powers at the time. And since their powers cancel out each other, it didn't harm them, but made things more....interesting," said Henry as Ralph raised his eyebrows.
"And you know, one thing led to another and here I am!" laughed Henry trying to ease some of the tension he was feeling.
"Damn Allen," said Ralph clapping Barry on the back making him stumble forward. "I didn't know you were such a dog," replied Ralph making Barry checks heat up as Cisco choked on his drink.
"Can we please talk about something else," pleaded Barry wanting the attention directed off of him.
"Well I'm going to go back to work starting next week," replied Cecile excitedly.
"What! Really! That's great to hear," replied Caitlin embracing her in a hug.
"Yeah," said Cecile pulling away. "But family will always come first," replied Cecile thinking about baby Jenna.
"Of course," smiled Caitlin thinking about someone special to her also (ehm..Henry).
Walking down the stairs, Iris went to join everyone in the living room. Wrapping her arms around Barry's waist, Iris leaned against his chest looking around.
"What I'd miss?" asked Iris looking at him.
"Nothing much," said Barry passing a glass of Champagne to her.
"Let's make a toast," said Barry looking at the group. "To Henry!" said Barry lifting his glass in the air.
"To Henry!" repeated everyone downing their alcoholic drink, all except for Nora who threw her's into a potted plant.
---------------------------------
A couple of hours passed before Caitlin & Henry decided to call it a night. Saying goodbye to everyone, and promising Cecile that they'll go to visit baby Jenna, Henry flashed home with his mother in his arms.
Setting her down, Henry went to change out of his suit in the bathroom, as Caitlin walked into her room getting ready for bed.
Walking out of the bathroom a couple of minutes later in some pajamas he found in his dad's bag of clothes, Henry laid down on the couch with the blanket over his body. Opening the door, Caitlin walked out of her room towards Henry.
"Alright, are you comfortable?" asked Caitlin looking at her son.
"Yeah," yawned Henry opening his eyes to look at her.
"Ok, well, goodnight then," replied Caitlin leaning down to place a kiss on Henry's forehead making him suck in a breath. He didn't imagine his mother to be so caring towards him, especially after she had just met him. Yet, here she was acting like a mother would.
"Goodnight," replied Henry smiling up at her before closing his eyes and falling into a deep sleep.
