Chapter Three

Aurora woke up to Oren staring at her."How long have you gone without blinking?"She asked. He blinked finally, letting out a strong exhale of relief."Since the sun got brighter. So for three straight hours."He said, smiling. She chuckled and shifted in her laying position."You called me Dad last night...." Her smile faded as she looked at her paws."Sorry. It's what I used to do when my human father frustrated me." Aurora said, sighing. He nudged her snout up, so she was looking at him in the eyes."It's okay. I'll get used to your frustrated fits since they might happen a lot."He laughed. Aurora smiled again, getting up on her feet. Ylves put a box in front of her. "Your uniform. Change behind the boar skin." She said, smiling. Aurora noticed a slight tear shed. She took it up in her mouth, trying her best not to drool on it. She opened it before changing. Aurora turned to her human form. She took out the dress, just as she thought it would be. Silky smooth and a beautiful shiny red. She slipped on the dress. She tightened the black belt around her waist. Oren gave her earrings, a wolf head howling. She put them on, glad her ears were pierced before. She brushed her hair with the brush she brang and pinned the bat pin in her hair, its red jewel eyes glowing as light reflected on it. Her eyes were like before, green and brown. Aurora hoped she wouldn't be called the freak. She put on the black high heels that came in the box as well. She never walked in high heels, so she was grateful they were only an inch tall. Ylves took Aurora to school, Oren on their tail. Sorgo came beside Ylves, wary of Oren."How did you catch up? You only have two legs right now!"Aurora asked from the back of Ylves."Werewolves have incredible speed in both forms."He said, smiling. Ylves let him jump on. She slowed down, arriving at the building."Is that made out of real dirt?"She asked, looking at the 3rd Layer. He nodded, snickering."Don't know what went through their minds when they made this up."Sorgo said. Ylves and Oren walked them in. They were the only werewolves in wolf form, everyone else human. Tegan walked beside Aurora, smiling at Oren and Ylves. He grimaced at the sight of Sorgo. The Irish werewolf flashed a fake smile and turned to look at the principal."Welcome to NorthWind Academy! I hope you all enjoyed your summer vacations very much because it's time for work."She said. The principal was apparently Queen Wirwix, the Queen of all kingdoms. The vice principals were the leaders of each kingdom. High Alpha Uretes, Head of the Elders Floreli, Captain Yendur of the Shifter Kingdom, and Leader Kiltani of the Angel Kingdom. The Dark Kingdoms were forbidden from ever going to the school.

"Oh and I would like for you all to welcome an extremely special new student. Aurora Karrier! The hybrid legend."The Queen announced. She snapped her fingers and two elves in stands pointed their hands at her, beams of light widening into a spotlight on her. The grip she had on Sorgo and Tegan's hands tightened. She smiled weakly. The boys looked at her dreamily while the girls snarled at her with envy. Her cheeks flushed as she watched Norin and Belven run up to her. Belven smiled and nodded at her. Norin chuckled and turned to the crowd."Well? This girl is here to save us all! I don't suppose that is how we greet a legend here at NorthWind."He yelled. Claps exploded from the middle, spreading to the surrounding. Sorgo raised her hand, motioning Tegan to do the same. He snarled at the thought of listening to Sorgo but did it anyways. They all smiled."Anyways, treat her with the love and respect we give everyone. Now go to your lockers, your schedule is inside of it. Have a good first day!"Queen Wirwix requested. She looked at Norin and Belven."Here, I'll take you and Sorgo to your lockers." Belven said. Tegan snarled and looked at Norin. "It's ok. Best friends help each other out."Norin laid a hand on Tegan's shoulder. Aurora yanked Sorgo's hand back. "You guys are best friends? Then why were you bad mouthing Norin?"She asked. Tegan looked at Norin, who was frowning. "We have some bad times but we get over them."Tegan explained. Oren nuzzled Aurora before leaving. Ylves smiled at her. "Well then. To our lockers, we don't want to be late for first period."Belven said. He took Sorgo and Aurora to their lockers, which were side by side.  Belven was on Aurora's side."I specifically requested to be next to you. After all, I have a feeling this is going to be one interesting school year for the entire school."Belven smiled. She blushed and opened her locker. Sorgo scanned his eye, but experienced pain."What's wrong?"Aurora asked, watching him wince. He shook his head."Nothing, I was just raised around darkness so my eyes never get used to lasers." Belven nodded."I'll arrange for your locker to be finger scanned."He offered. Sorgo nodded at the kind Elder's offer. "I've got art for first period! Awesome."Aurora exclaimed. Sorgo grinned."Me too! Let's go."Belven headed to his class. Aurora and Sorgo joined 2nd Layer students in the elevator to the next floor. When they arrived, jaws dropped. It was a marvelous sight! Stone walls, red banners. Bats carved into the walls above every door. It had a medieval taste to it. The first classroom on the left was art, taught by Missus Canvas which was somewhat ironic. They sat next to each other.

"Welcome to art class! I hope you enjoy your time with me because I will be retiring in a few months."Missus Canvas called. Sorgo frowned. He glared at the person coming through the door. It took Aurora a while to process that the elf was Tegan. They growled at each other. Missus Canvas observed this out of curiosity. Tegan looked at Aurora. She sighed and tried her best to avoid locking eyes with him."Good sirs, if you have a feud to settle I'd prefer if you would take it outside my classroom."Missus Canvas growled. Tegan looked at her, cold and black hatred clouding his eyes."Okay. Let's go Sorgo, settle this dispute outside of her classroom. Spare these kids their innocence."Tegan sneered. Sorgo shot up out of his seat and shoved Tegan out the door and into the hall. Aurora ran into the hall after them. Belven, in class a floor up, raised his hand."May I be excused? It's an emergency, happening on the 2nd floor."He asked quickly. Without a response he shot out of the classroom and into an elevator. He slammed the buttons, not helping at all with the speed. Aurora watched as Tegan and Sorgo circled each other. Sorgo lunged forward, turning into his ebony wolf midair. Tegan tossed him into the wall. "Amazing strength."She muttered. Sorgo slashed Tegan's side weakly. They both cried out in pain. Tears went down her cheeks. Black fire shot out of her fingers. They coiled around Sorgo's neck. He yelped, feet flailing at the burning of his skin. Water from her tears went into Tegan's gashes, healing him. The black fire turned blue, neutral. Sorgo stopped moving. He breathed heavily, looking at Aurora with pleading eyes. The fire retreated. Belven finally got to the second floor. He waved his hands and Tegan and Sorgo slammed into the walls, choking as if someone seized them by the necks."You two and your silly rivalry! Get over it or I will have you both put into detention for two entire years."The Elder growled. Sorgo and Tegan gave weak nods. Aurora covered her mouth with her hands, crying. She didn't want her friends to hurt each other."You two idiots are lucky Aurora was here to stop the fight. Both of you clearly understand that you have enough power to kill each other. If she wasn't, let's just say that there would be lots of black and tears."Belven scolded. Missus Canvas had no power to tell Belven to stop, since he had a higher power than her. Queen Wirwix arrived with guards beside her. They wore silver knight armour. It covered their faces, Aurora was unable to determine what species they were. "No Belven. They don't get detention for fighting. They are sentenced to cleaning up after the pegasi. And the alicorns. For a month." Tegan and Sorgo groaned."And as for you young lady. Three hour detention for using black fire. It's forbidden but you didn't know."Queen Wirwix announced. Missus Canvas motioned them inside the classroom.

Sorgo carved wolves into his desk, signing the carvings."Tegan told me why you fight so much. Such silly reasons!"Aurora whispered. He looked at her, his eyes fogged with sorrow and fear."Those aren't the reasons I fight with him. One night Tegan and Calvin snuck into the Werewolf Kingdom. Tegan was mad at me for lying about the lab. I was going to confess I actually did it but after what he did, I just could not forgive him. Him, his brother, and a couple of their friends left a hellhound on the edge of my family territory. At the edge of the territory, my sister lived in a den there. The hellhound wandered into her den and killed her. She woke up to the hot breathing on her neck with no time to protect herself. I know because I was there. I killed the hellhound. But not in time." Aurora looked back at Tegan.'Did you really leave a hellhound in Sorgo's territory?'She messaged. He nodded. Aurora looked hurt. The guilt wafted off of Tegan in an abundance. "It seems like he never meant for that to happen. Can't you smell the guilt coming off of him? There is a lot!"She whispered. Sorgo scoffed."I wouldn't believe it for the world. He knew a den was there. Calvin pointed it out, I heard them!" She looked away. Aurora knew helping them in this situation was a lost cause, after all she wasn't there. The bell rung. They got up and walked out of the classroom. "I'll see you two at lunch. At the same table."She said, staring at them both. They huffed and went their separate ways. She met up with Norin, who was in her next class."Mister Toredor develops crushes on his students, so I'd watch out for sudden A's if I were you."Norin said, smiling. Mister Toredor, the equestrian instructor, was a dashing young fellow. About 21 years of age, Aurora could tell since she noticed his ears forming their pointy state. Norin had trouble on his pegasus. Aurora tried her best to help, but alicorns behaved differently than the pegasi. Her alicorn, a beautiful white mare with a sparkly blond mane and a blond tail that was mixed with brown and black, was the star of the stables. Mister Toredor smiled as the alicorn pranced with Aurora on her back."I would like you all to know that if you pass this class with an A, not a B, you get to keep your horse. I say so with such confidence because through the past decades, we have only lost four horse to straight A students." Everyone gasped, making him burst out laughing. Norin and Tegan tried their best on their pegasi. Tegan's pegasus kept sniffing Aurora's alicorn. They were both the best looking horses in the stables. Aurora called her alicorn Aerodite. Tegan called his pegasus Flash Storm, Norin called his mare Kite. Flash Storm, a black stallion with sudden lined splashes of white, zipped past everyone else.

Aurora pet Aerodite who was ahead of everyone by six miles. Tegan pushed Flash Storm harder. Aurora looked back and noticed the small black form of Flash. She quickly calculated the height."Hey Aero, think you can survive a sonic boom?"She asked. The horse gave a curious whinny. Aurora decided to send her a picture of it. She messaged her a picture of Aerodite flying down, wings closed to sides. Then a sonic boom happened, the sound seeming so realistic it made Aerodite flinch. The alicorn nodded then dived down quickly, seeing Flash Storm in the corner of her eye. She closed her wings tightly. Aurora tightened her grip on the alicorn's mane. Aurora felt the rush of wind. Looking back, her eyes widened as she saw the circled cloud around Aerodite's long tail tip. They passed the sound barrier. BOOOOOOM. The alicorn heard and slowed down. Her wings shot out, like a parachute. The air carried them, safely. Aerodite neighed with relief as her golden hooves clopped on the solid ground of the stables. Mister Toredor landed next to her with his stallion alicorn, Primal Ezio. He was a black brindle with crimson red splattered on his wings like blood. His stockings were black, his snout sprayed with tan. He had a brown mane and white base coat like every alicorn. He trotted up to Aurora and Aerodite."You and Aerodite are so brave! Actually pulling off that stunt without a single injury!"Mister Toredor had a slight slur like he was distracted. She understood what Norin finally meant. Primal nickered at Aerodite, who looked away in embarrassment. Tegan landed with a loud thud, scaring Mister Toredor and Primal. "That was awesome! Do you think Aerodite could show Flash Storm a few procedures to do that?"He exclaimed. He smiled, making her heart fly again. She almost fell off of the alicorn, who's wing shot out to prop her back up. 'Thanks.'She messaged Aerodite. 'No problem.' She answered. Her eyes widened. Mister Toredor came back."What is it?"He asked. "I just messaged her and she answered!"Aurora said. Tegan watched as Norin came down with Kite."That was sick! You have to teach me how to do that." Aurora laughed, thinking she was the teacher of this class now. Aurora led Aerodite to her stall. She smiled at the female alicorn. Her horn glowed purple, the color of her eyes. A brush floated in front of Aurora and into her hands.'Brush.' Aurora smiled and ran the brush across her neck and sides smoothly. A comb came and she brushed her hair slowly, making sure there were no tangles. The bell rung and Aurora reluctantly left for lunch.

Sorgo met up with her in line."So from unknown sources, I heard that you did an amazing stunt today in Equestrian Flight class. And that Mister Toredor has a crush on you. But the funniest part is that his horse has a crush on yours as well!" Aurora chuckled. She picked out meat related items, and a few vegetables. "No big deal. Jets in air shows where I used to live did sonic booms all the time!"She muttered. Sorgo scoffed."Well here, Miss Karrier, for an alicorn to break the sound barrier is extremely rare!"He argued. She shrugged and sat down at a table next to Norin."Kite likes Flash Storm. My horse likes my best friend's horse...... She has no good taste." They burst out laughing. Tegan emerged from the lunch line with Belven. He hesitated, then tried to walk away. Belven and Aurora must have though alike because they both used their telekinesis to carry him to the table."If you even try to leave, I will fry you up like a piece of chicken."Aurora threatened. He sighed and looked at her plate."Omnivore hmm? Thought your elf side would take over. But I guess you like dogs more."He snarled. Tegan glared at Sorgo, who flashed his fangs. Belven pointed at Aurora. The eyes of her bat were small flames, pulling towards Tegan and Sorgo.  They grunted and looked at each other."Now, we are going to talk about the incident that started all of this."She said calmly. They shot up, Belven pushing them down. Blue fire cuffed their hands to the seats. "No! We are speaking about this now!"She growled. Dirt came from the floor above. They turned into roots that wrapped around their legs. She froze their legs as well. Sorgo grimaced."This isn't Alcatraz." Tegan sighed, ready to confess."Okay! I'll talk about it...."He finally agreed. Sorgo untensed."Okay. Sorgo, begin with the questions. Not too many. If you overwhelm him, know the roots have retractable thorns."Aurora said. Belven nodded. Sorgo gulped and looked at Tegan."Were you aware of the den near the edge of the territory?"He asked. Tegan sadly nodded."Calvin pointed it out. He told me that if it was abandoned or recently used and the owner was returning, then the hellhound would sleep there and scare them. It was meant to be a harmless prank."He admitted. Tears streamed down Sorgo's cheeks. Aurora watched, using her telekinesis to feed herself as her fingers were ready to shoot ice and fire."Were you aware that my sister lived there, and I was in there as well?"He asked, urgency in his voice."No, I didn't Sorgo. I honestly thought you shared a single den with your family." Belven fed Tegan as Sorgo thought. "I forgive you. I hope you can forgive me for everything I did to you. I didn't really like my girlfriend and I accidentally forgot I put my Roven inside my left pocket instead of my right so."

Aurora looked at Belven. He nodded his approval. She waved her arms and the roots, ice, and fire disappeared. Calvin came over. She groaned and looked at Belven again for help. Calvin sat next to her, smiling. Tegan snarled."If you don't leave, I'm going to tell Mom that you are using vulgar language towards Aurora again. You know she is going to freeze you for two weeks!"He threatened. Calvin snorted and left. Aurora smiled at Tegan.'Thank you so much! Your brother is cute but he is extremely negative.' He raised an eyebrow and she blushed, chuckling nervously. Sorgo tore through his steak, watching Calvin trudge to another table. "I swear, if he bothers you again I'll tear him apart. He's my steak, so easy to tear up."Sorgo growled."Looks like you've imprinted on someone."Tegan teased. Sorgo flashed a smile at Aurora, blushing as he looked away."How can he imprint on me? I'm half werewolf."Aurora said. Belven and Tegan exchanged glances."You see, most of the time you aren't in wolf form. Full werewolves are in wolf form half the time they are alive. So for a werewolf to imprint on you is possible."Belven explained. Aurora nodded then looked at Sorgo's shrunken form. He finally shot up."Hey! It's not like any of you haven't developed a crush on her! I mean, Norin here obviously has."Sorgo shot. Norin was smiling at Aurora. She burst out laughing and ruffled his hair. Belven's face turned as red as his hair. Tegan's turned red too. "We all know Calvin did. Called me a hot werewolf the other day."Aurora added. Tegan turned redder."Heh. I tackled him like a wolf on a deer." They all burst out laughing. The bell rung. Lunch was over."We have the same class next! Gym. But we have the same class with Calvin...."Belven said. They all groaned at the thought of gym with Calvin. "Calvin plus locker room equals lost dignity."Aurora joked. They laughed again. Sorgo snorted."Gym.... The place where angels show off." Aurora hadn't seen an angel yet. "At least the rumors are good to use against them."Tegan said. Norin nodded."They insult you just say,'Is it true your mother is  a pegasus?' It drives them crazy." Belven looked away."Just come get me. Elves and angels are allies so they can't fight. The Elders control them as well." Aurora wondered very much what everyone else looked like."Don't worry about the shifters though. They are extremely nice and generous. Especially Pendan, the hottie hottie of the shifters. He is smart and fast. Not like those stupid jocks." Sorgo said."Not another cute friend!"She cried out."Another?"They all asked. She groaned, embarrassed."Don't ask please!"

Aurora took the gym clothes out of her locker and went into the girls locker room. She noticed there weren't any lockers. "Why do they call this place a locker room then?"She muttered. She shrugged and changed quickly. She had a slim red shirt and black shorts that resembled those of NBA players. Her hair was up in a pony tail, the bat pin on the top of it. She walked into the gym with other girls. They sat down in the bleachers. Sorgo came over."This gym reminds me a lot of the one in my old school back when I lived with humans in the other world."She said. He nodded."These are based on theirs because in a school gym for humans, the negative energy somehow is erased. The simplicity of it seemed to calm the students here as well." Aurora frowned, not liking the way he called humans simple. Both gym teachers were shifters. Missus Jelvalding demonstrated for the non shifters, while Mister Feller demonstrated shifter based games. Aurora liked the fact that werewolves were allowed to join in shifter games since they could change into an animal. "Hope you can beat these guys in a race."Sorgo said. "Okay shifters and werewolves! We are going to place a special racing game today. It is an interesting obstacle course. Go to your locker rooms and change. Shifters, to keep the game fair, shift into wolves and you are not allowed to shift into any other animal."The teachers announced. Sorgo flashed  a wicked grin."I'm going to like this game." The girls in the locker room became her enemies. "I hope you aren't aiming for the Elder. I know he keeps an eye on me. And also keep your hand off of Tegan and Sorgo, they don't deserve a skinny little thing like you." A shifter sneered. Her name was Jenevieve. A werewolf stood up for her."Back off Jenevieve! I'm not afraid to rip out your tongue!"She snarled. The girl backed off."Thanks. I'm-" The werewolf cut her off."Aurora. We all know. I'm Kenley. I'll keep your hybrid behind safe in this obstacle course." Aurora chuckled and looked Kenley in the eye before shifting."Don't worry. I can do this."She assured. They ran out of the locker room. Cheers came from the kids in the bleachers. Norin, Belven, and Tegan sat at the very front. Aurora saw Calvin, everyone shoving him in a friendly manner. She had to forgive him! "Now, before you are many dangerous obstacles. These clouds are stable enough for one hundred people. You are to climb them to the top, then jump down onto the marble slabs, careful to avoid the jagged rocks. Then you must use those webbed feet of yours to swim a mile to the end of the gym."Mister Feller yelled.

Sorgo came over."I don't think I like this game anymore!"He cried out. She snorted."I don't need my powers to do this. I've been rock climbing since I was five and swimming since I was three. I won gold medals every year in the national swimming championship for kids. With four legs and webbed feet, I'll ace this. Plus, I've had people tell me I'm a fast and swift as a deer."She bragged. Sorgo playfully bumped her with his shoulder."GO!"Missus Jelvalding howled. Aurora took off, head to head with Jenevieve. Aurora flung herself onto the clouds, not missing a single one. Heading down, adrenaline rushed through her veins faster than a speeding bullet train. Aurora lost Jenevieve at the bottom of the rocks. She swam with all her strength left. Her legs kicked quickly, her toes spreading to reveal more webbing for more speed. What made her go faster was the calls of her friends."Aurora! Aurora! Swim with those webbed feet your father gave you!" She smiled. She almost reached the end before she was pulled under. She looked at a shark. The eyes weren't beady black, they were icy blue. Jeneieve. The name stabbed her mind like a cold icicle. She kicked her, dazing her for a few long minutes. Aurora knew she was way ahead of everyone. She swam to the surface, gasping for breath. She climbed out of the water, coughing out the liquid. Belven came to her side, patting her back."What happened? What dragged you under?"He asked, concerned. The words left her lips with a dark chill."Jenevieve. She was a shark that pulled me under! She broke the rules." Belven growled. She surfaced as a wolf, looking like she was traumatized."Help me! Aurora pulled me under with her back leg and I took her with me in the struggle for my life!"She cried out, the falsetto voice easy to hear."You are sentenced to lunch duty for a week for almost killing a student."Mister Feller growled. Jenevieve glared at Aurora. Sorgo shook his fur on her. She gasped and bared her fangs at Aurora. Sorgo raised his hackles and snarled, standing tall in front of Aurora. She licked his cheek, blushing. Tegan, Norin, Belven, and Calvin grumbled under their breathes. She chuckled. Kenley came behind Aurora, tackling her to the ground."You were awesome! You saw how fast she went? Like- zoooooooom! How do you do that?" She exclaimed, searching her face in wonder. Sorgo smiled, shaking his ebony fur once more."Aurora Karrier, a riddle I won't ever be able to solve."He teased. She giggled and Kenley let her get up."Wow, for Jenevieve to go and do something so dramatic like that. You must have done something to make her really hate you."Norin said, interrupting their giggle time. Kenley and Aurora exchanged glances."She took Belven, Sorgo, and Tegan from Jenevieve. So yeah- she hates her." Aurora groaned in an annoyed way and Kenley gave her a sorry grin.
