Angry and the Starved

Elizabeth--

I sit on the leather couch in the lobby sketching away in my old notebook, the fringed papers and water warped cover from a memory of my old clumsy self, a reminder of what I was before this. Before the Trackers found me, an unknown hunter living a normal life. To think I had a life of school and a social life of humans. What I would do sometimes to be that naïve again, to not know of the horrors that roam this cryptic world.

I sigh, rolling my eyes at myself, I was being pathetic and I knew it.

Hearing footsteps and knowing who it was, I just ignore them. I continue to shade my picture, hoping he'll get the hint and leave me be.

No dice.

"Ashlynn hasn't left the library all night, and she's starting to look like death." Nickolas says as he plops down on the couch beside me. I look over at him,

"And this concerns us, why?" I ask with a raise of my eyebrow.

"You know why this concerns us." he replies giving me a knowing look. I close my notebook and toss it onto the opposite loveseat carelessly as I sigh and sink back into the leather seat turning my gaze onto his,"She probably hasn't fed, though what could ever be so important that the infamous blood thirsty murderer doesn't feed is beyond me," I say dully, having absolutely no interest in talking about the dark haired menace.

"She can't starve herself, we can't use her dormant. She won't be of any use then." He says emotionlessly, it seemed, but as I studied him, I noticed a flash of a different emotion cross his navy eyes. Was it worry, I saw? Why would he worry over such a cold creature? A heartless being that couldn't even be called anything but an animal, and he looked worry because of her.

I cross my arms over my chest, resting back in the cushions, I point out, "She hasn't been very useful as it is. You know other than getting Melissa after us, which means she will hunt us like dogs, let me remind you, since you seem to have forgotten."

"I haven't forgotten, though in all fairness that isn't my first priority." Nickolas retorts running his hand through his golden hair.

"Oh, that's right, you're first priority is to bring a possible life sentence for the whole world back to life to save your sick sister." I say heatedly in a fit of frustration as I stand, "Because bringing billions of lives to an end for one life is genius." I contiue, my face flushing with anger as I walk to the front door swinging it open and slamming it shut behind me.

Ashlynn-

I still sit in the God forsaken library two days later, though now moved to one of desks, I still have a cramp forming in my neck and I have started to tap my foot anxiously. My mouth has gone dry, and my eyes turned red in hunger but I was determined. The thing is, I have found nothing recorded about this, which is hysterical because the Ring wrties everything down like the Hebrews studied the bible.

And yet, there is nothing. Nothing about three people, nothing about the powers they possesed or why they would hide my father because of it. There is nothing. And I'm having a hard time believing it wasn't recorded. I stand and make my way over to the dark oak bookshelves searching through the leather bound books. I even search for a missing spot where someone may have taken it out. I was just about to call it quits when my finger ran over a book that didn't belong there, the perfect alphabetical order layed out was disrupted. I take the book and trace it back to its correct home, hoping to find the wanted book I had been searching for.

Only to find it empty.

Though even with the momentary failure, I smile smugly as I slip the misplaced book onto the dusty empty space of the shelf. Someone's been a busy reader, and my thoughts were pointed to the girl who seemed to have known everything only nights before.

Time to make a visit to Clarissa. I had that in my mind as I started to make my way to the door only to be stopped by a spell of dizzyness. Loss of vision started to set in as dark spots edged at the corner of her eyesight blurring everything, I think I yelled out but I couldn't hear as buzzing started to sound around me, suffocating me almost, it seemed. Then a pain started to bloom in my stomach, spreading quickly throughout me. I had never felt pain so strongly, my legs gave out from under me as I gave my all in a last effort scream of agony.

And it was black.

Nickolas-

The echo of screams from upstairs had me running on instinct, taking the steps two at a time. Donovan is already out of his given room and jogging down the hall, swinging into the library before I'm even half way. Arriving seconds later, my gaze lands on the unconcious Ashlynn lying sprawled out on the floor.

Donovan picks her up and moves her to a couch before walking over to me, "She's starved, I'm going to go get blood from her usual bloodbank. You need to stay with her, when she wakes she will be after anyone with even a trace of blood, and you are the only one with enough strength to keep her from killing someone here. She'll come after you too, so you might want to watch out for that. Have fun, I'll be back in an hour or so." he says before glancing back at her and then leaving through the door.

I glance over at her briefly, shoving my thoughts of worry down into the depths of my head as I make my way over to the desk she must have been studying at. Elizabeth was right about one thing, what was so important that kept her from feeding? Glancing over the books and then the notes written in her mix of cursive and print font, it was well implied what she was looking for. I got lost in her notes, how confused she seemed of it all.

My exploring was interrupted by a low groan and turning to the sound of it I find Ashlynn's red hungered eyes staring at me, as if devouring me already. Her lips fall into a pout as her fangs dig into her bottom lip. She was starved for blood, and she was looking at me.
