Chapter 3

Jordan, who was in the lead, ran into an abandoned building down the street from the Training Center. The kids followed suit and ran inside.

Ty slumped down against the wall when he got inside, scared out of his mind. He had almost been killed by a Creeper that he hadn't even seen.

Why were the monsters attacking New Block City in the first place? In all ten years of his life, Ty had never seen any get within the city gates. Yet, a huge army of them had just almost killed a bunch of kids.

What was going to happen after the monsters left, if they even did? Were Ty's parents still alive? If they were, could they still live here? And if they weren't, what would Ty do?

On another note, Ty had lost his headset. He felt naked without it, since he always wore it. But, it was still in the Training Center, and who knows if they were going back there or not?

"Guys!" Mitch, who was looking out the window with Jerome, whisper-shouted. "The monsters are leaving!"

Ty stood up groggily and looked out another window. Sure enough, the army of monsters were exiting Mojang Training Center. They were walking in the opposite direction down the street, towards Central Park.

"Where are they going?" Ty wondered aloud.

Nobody answered, probably because nobody knew the answer. Would it be safe to go back to Mojang Training Center?

"Should we go back?" Stampy asked.

"I don't think it's safe to go back outside," Pat replied.

"Remember what that guy said?" Dan asked. "He said to stay in the training center."

"That guy probably isn't even alive anymore," Jason said. "We can't base our actions off of what someone we don't even know told us to do."

"Maybe the monsters are leaving the city," Jerome countered. "Which means we can go outside."

"And what if they're just hiding, waiting for us to show ourselves again?" Squid asked.

"Monsters aren't smart enough to do that," Jen replied.

"I don't know, those monsters seemed pretty smart to me," Seto said. "And did you notice they all had red eyes?"

"I think we need to do a vote," Adam spoke up.

"You and your votes," Jordan muttered.

"Who votes we--"

"Guys!" Mitch cried out from the window. "Look! It's the guy!"

The kids rushed over to the window to look out. Ty got to one first, looking in the direction of Mojang Training Center.

Sure enough, the guy that had saved them on the school bus was standing just outside of Mojang Training Center. Ty couldn't read his expression from where they were. He could tell, however, that he was holding something small and green in his hand. There was also another woman with him who was not there earlier. The man and the woman seemed to be talking about something.

"Well, if he's out there, then it must be safe!" Dan exclaimed. "Come on!"

He started running towards the door, but Jason stood in front of him, iron sword in front of his body to block Dan.

"Just because he's out there doesn't mean it's safe," Jason said sternly.

Dan stepped back nervously. "That guy saved us. We have to go to him before we lose him again."

"We know nothing about that man or what's out there," Stampy countered.

"Who exactly is that man, anyway?" Seto asked. He wasn't with them when the man saved them.

Pat quickly filled Seto in on how the man saved them on the school bus.

"So are we going out there or not?" Jerome asked.

"Well, he's leaving now," Mitch, who was still looking out the window, replied.

Ty and the other kids looked out the window again. Sure enough, the man and the woman were leaving, going towards Main Street.

"Where do you think he's going?" Ty asked.

"I don't know, but if he's going to Main Street, then it must be safe," Adam replied. "I think we should go out there."

"I don't!" Squid exclaimed. "There could be a Creeper right around the corner!"

Ty flinched, remembering the Creeper that had almost blown him up earlier.

"We need to do a vote," Adam said. "Who votes we stay in here?"

Squid, Stampy, Jason, Pat, and Jen raised their hands.

"And who votes we go back out there?"

Mitch, Jerome, Jordan, Seto, Dan, and Adam raised their hands. Ty hadn't raised his hand for either. He didn't want to vote.

"Guess we're going back out there," Adam said. "Let's go."

The twelve kids ran outside cautiously. Ty kept looking around for a Creeper to blow them up, but there wasn't one.

There weren't any monsters, for that matter.

"It's safe. Back to the training center!" Adam called.

They ran over to the training center and went inside. The place was trashed from the fight, but it was still intact.

Ty looked around the general area of where he had been fighting. He didn't see his headset anywhere. Ty sighed sadly.

"Well. What do we do now?" Pat asked.

"We could...uh..." Adam wasn't sure how to reply.

"We need to find out parents," Stampy spoke up.

"Our parents are dead."

Everyone looked at Seto. He was shaking slightly, looking at the ground.

"What makes you say that?" Dan asked.

Seto looked at him. "When I was out there, alone, I was trying to find my parents. I ran towards the building they worked in. It collapsed in front of me."

Complete silence.

Those words hit Ty like a brick. The destroyed building he had found Seto in had collapsed right in front of him, taking his parents with it.

And if Seto's parents were dead, who knew about any of the other parents. Even if they were alive, would they know where to find their children?

"So what do we do?" Stampy asked, his voice wavering.

"The only person we know can help us is that man that saved us on the bus," Mitch said. "We need to go find him."

"How?" Dan asked. "How could we possibly find one man in a huge city like this?"

"We...uh..."

"Why don't we just stay here?" Jordan asked. He was over by the front desk, holding a photo of some sort. "He owns this place."

The kids walked over to him, looking at the picture. There were six people in it. Sure enough, the man that had saved them was in it, right next to a guy with beady black eyes.

"Jordan's right," Adam said. "We should stay here. The man will come back."

"Well, if we're staying here, I'm watching TV," Jerome said. He pointed the remote at a television in the corner of the room, and it turned on.

For a few seconds, a news lady was saying something about the attacks. But then, the footage cut off, and it was replaced by a man with a blue shirt, darker blue pants, brown hair, and glowing white eyes.

And he was holding a glowing sword to an old man's throat.

"Who's that?" Ty asked.

"I don't know, but the old man is the President of Minecraftia! President Wolfe!" Dan replied, worried.

The man with white eyes grinned evilly at the camera.

"Hello, citizens of the world," he greeted. It was obviously being broadcasted to all of Minecraftia.

"Many of you have heard about the attacks on New Block City. Many of you were victims to the attacks on New Block City. And I would like to say, I am...sincerely...sorry." He laughed.

"That must be the bad guy!" Jason exclaimed.

"Anyway, I have taken hostage President Wolfe here, the leader of your world," the evil man continued. He chuckled a little bit. "Everyone say goodbye to your beloved leader."

Before Wolfe could say anything, before Ty could even blink, the glowing diamond sword cut Wolfe's throat, killing him instantly.

Almost all of the kids gasped in horror.

"I am your leader now," the evil man growled. "You will all fear me. Anyone who tries to oppose me, will be killed. Or worse. Now, just so you all know I'm serious, there will be one more attack on a city.

"Better watch out, Mineville."

The TV screen went black.

"Oh my god!" Jen screamed. "He just killed the president!"

"What do we do what do we do what do we do what do we do what do we do?!" Pat yelled, running in circles.

"Calm down, everyone!" Adam shouted, trying to keep order. It wasn't really working. All the kids were panicking.

"I want my mommy!" Squid cried.

"That man is gonna kill everyone!" Stampy added.

"Who's going to lead Minecraftia now?!" Dan wailed.

"Guys! We're going to be okay!" Adam shouted. "The man who saved us will be back soon, and--"

A really loud cracking noise cut him off. Ty and the other kids looked around in confusion.

Then they saw cracks forming in the ceiling.

"Run!" Jordan shouted. The kids ran towards the door as the cracks continued, and dust started falling from the ceiling.

Ty jumped out the doorway, out onto the street. Seto ran out last, and the entire roof collapsed behind him.

The dust settled, and there was silence for a few seconds.

"Now what do we do?" Jen asked.

"We have to go find that man that saved us," Adam answered.

"But how do we know where he is?" Dan inquired.

"Well, that man seemed like an important hero, right?" Adam asked.

The kids nodded in agreement, not sure where he was going with this.

"And what do heroes do? They go to the bad guy to defeat him," Adam replied.

"Which means...?" Ty asked.

"We have to go to Mineville."
