Chapter 6: Waxing Gibbous Moon
Kira's P.O.V
I feel good.
Ever since the night I was infected I've had this new attitude towards life. I feel more alive. Especially these last couple days. Everything is heightened and better. I've been waking up early and going to sleep at a reasonable time. I go for a jog every morning and never seem to break a sweat. I wonder how fast and far I could run before getting tired.
The full moon is tomorrow night and I've learned everything I need to know. At least that's what Ajax says. I've been training with him on how to use my new abilities, sight, smell, hearing. Even speed and strength. He's taught me how to shift at will, I won't be able to completely until after my first full moon but for now, it's all good. I can use my claws and fangs at will and it doesn't hurt as much when shifting.
This werewolf thing may not be all that bad. I like this new version of me, I'm not that scared little girl who lost both her parents, afraid to speak her mind, the girl who cared what others thought about her. I'm new and improved, a badass, someone who fights for what they want, someone not afraid to be herself. A wolf.
I'm ready to go to school tomorrow as this new me. Shock them all. Show them my new found confidence. Nobody can mess with me anymore.

^Ajax's POV^
"You need to watch over her especially tonight." Says my brother Chase. People think I'm tough? Compared to him I'm a wimp. He's the alpha of the pack. When both my parents died their alpha status both went to him, making him one of the most powerful alphas in existence.
"I know. She's been feeling the moons power. For some reason, she's more affected by it than others I've seen." I say still confusedly this fact. The moon is at the waxing gibbous moon phase, its peak, tomorrow, the morning of the full moon.
"Have you told her about this?" He asks picking up his weights.
"No, not yet. I don't think that now is the time to tell her. She's only a new wolf and doesn't need her first change to be harder with something like that on her mind."
My brother nods his head in approval. "Good. I taught you well." He gets up and goes to pull up bar.
"Could you take off your alpha mask for a second and stop to talk to me?" I ask. I love my brother but sometimes he gets too wrapped up in being an alpha and forgets that he's my brother too.
"Sorry little bro, but I can't. There are rumors of hunters coming to town and if laying low doesn't pan out we have to be ready to fight." He looks at me with pleading eyes. "You know how it is."
"Yeah sure," I say. Immediately his eyes go back to his usual hard steel, focusing on his working out.
I walk out of his room and out of the house. I have to go find Kira. Watch over her tonight.
I remember what my brother told me earlier today. She's an omega and I've been getting too attached for my own good. After this full moon, I have to ice her out. Forget about her. Everyone is scared of me, thinking I'm so tough and dangerous. Even members of the pack think so. I can't be myself around them like I can around Kira. My brother's voice goes into my head. Softness is a weakness. For my own good and for her's and everybody else, I can't get too close.
*****
I ended up sleeping in my car last night. I needed to watch over Kira until she slept so that I could go home but she decided to stay up watching tv shows and eating all night. I'll never understand human raised girls.
I quickly go home and get ready for the day. I can't let Kira out of my sight, the moon is at its most powerful tonight. Born werewolves like my brother and I learn to control as a pup but made werewolves like Kira never got to. She'll be vulnerable to the moon's power. Her body will be at its strongest while her human mind will be at its weakest.
I've got a choice to make. Watch over her in person or undetected. If I try undetected and she finds me out she's more likely to go rabid. I better do it in person, let's hope this goes well.
'Remember' says my brother's voice in my head.
I go to where Kira's bedroom window is and jump the railing to get inside. "Did she really have to live so high up?" I say more to myself than anyone else. I open her window and crawl inside. She's in the shower which means she's almost done. I hear the shower stop running and the bathroom door opens to reveal Kira in a towel. She looks up and notices my sitting on her bed, her eyes full of shock.
"What the fricken nutballs are you doing here!" She asks in a hushed yell.
Nutballs? I swear sometimes human girls confuse me way too much.
"I'm here to watch over you." I say bluntly. I mean that is what I'm here for.
"One. I don't need watching over. And two. I meant what are you doing in my room?" She asks quietly.
"If you don't need watching over then you wouldn't mind me. Also, why are you whispering?" I ask at a normal volume getting up from her bed.
"Shhhh! If my brother finds you hear he'll kill both of us." She says in a panic.
"I doubt your brother could even put a hand on me before I could stop and kill him." I say. It's true so I don't know why she's worrying.
"That's beside the point. Plus, you are NOT killing my brother." She says as if it was obvious. I shrug my shoulders at her. And her eyes widen. "Omg, you are not allowed to put a hand on my brother! Now get out!" She says pointing to the window.
"No." I say sitting on the rim of her bed.
She huffs knowing she won't be able to move me. "If I agree to let you hang around me will you leave?" She asks in defeat.
"Yes." I say nodding my head.
"Fine. Now go back out here you came from and meet me in the lobby." She says wrapping her towel around her tighter.
Am I making her uncomfortable? I tilt my head to try and read her.
"What?" She asks now annoyed at my not leaving.
"I'm making you uncomfortable." I say my thoughts out loud to answer her question. "Why?"
She looks at me like I'm dumb and whispers something to herself. "Maybe cause of the fact that you just showed up in my bedroom while I'm practically naked."
I shrug my shoulders still confused at her point. I grew up moving around a lot so the only friends I had were the ones in the pack. We stayed in the woods most of the time and in the wilderness, you don't really get to pick and choose. In the pack, we are all each others family, a piece of one another. We were so comfortable around one another that we changed, bathed and shifted in front of everyone else.
"Omg. Were you raised in a barn or something?" She asks
"Yes. At one point." I answer truthfully.
"No wonder." She says to herself. "Wait really?" She asks not believing me.
"Yes." Now can you hurry up, we're gonna be late for school." She points to the window again and I get the memo. She's not going to change until leave. I hop out the window onto the concrete and make my way into the lobby. I look around and sit down on the couch next to another person.
I look straight ahead not wanting to make conversation. I look at my watch, how long is she gonna take to get ready? Twenty minutes pass and I hear chatter inside of the descending elevator.
"Change. Of. Plans. Elliot. New. Person. Join. Ing. Us. To. Day." It's Kira. She's saying the words she's typing down.
Not even 30 seconds later the elevator doors open revealing Kira. She smiles and waves excitedly but not to me, to the person next to me. She goes and hugs him and whispers 'sorry' in his ear.
Did she not expect me to hear that? I have super hearing.
"Elliot," So the person's name is Elliot. "Say hi to Ajax. He'll be joining us for today."
I give him a small wave with three of my fingers to say 'hi' and he does the same waving back. I can hear his heart beat accelerating a little.
"Why is he here?" Asks Elliot whispering in Kira's ear.
"I don't know. He said he needs to watch over me. Just ignore him." She says glaring at me.
Gee thanks.
They head out and start walking to school. I stay a couple steps behind them not wanting to 'intrude' on their conversation.
Once we get to school I hold Kira back. "I need to talk to you." I say. She nods at Elliot telling him to go ahead.
"What." She says annoyed at me.
"I'm assuming he knows?" I say motioning over to Elliot.
She nods her head. "Yeah."
"Ok." I say. "Just don't tell anyone else. You need to keep it a secret for everyone's safety."
"Ok." She says. "Are we done?"
"There's one more thing. The full moon is tonight." I say quietly.
"Yeah." She says. "I can feel it." She smiles a little.
"The moon. It's going to have an effect on you. You may feel perfect, maybe even better. But you'll be on edge, one little thing could set you off." I warn her.
"I know you told me before, the moon's power, blah, blah, blah." She rolls her eyes.
I told her before but that was before I knew how much it affected her. I look at her in the eye, I'm seriously worried about her. "Just be careful." I say.
"Got it." She says tugging her arm away from me.
She continues walking, up the steps and through the school doors. "This is going to be one heck of a day."
// Did you guys enjoy 'Chapter 6: Waxing Gibbous Moon'? I didn't know what to write for this chapter so I looked at it from another perspective and came up with Ajax's perspective! This was a little twist to the story so you could have more of an inside look into his mind. I know a lot didn't happen in this chapter, it was more of a filler to set you up for the next one. Anyways, I hope you guys liked reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Ciao!\\
~ Question of the chapter: What was one phase you went through as a child you utterly regret? ~
