XII
A/N
I have absolutely no idea what happened to this chapter or why it is half of the previous one. I will leave this as it is for now and update eventually with a nearly completed story.
Aleksandrs brows furrowed as he gingerly approached his human. Aeron was leant against the bannister of his balcony, staring out into the distance. They always seemed to do that, just enjoying the view. It was reminiscing, almost. Reminiscing of the times they each were forcibly taken from witnessing the glory of the outside world- of nature itself.
"Is everything alright, Master?" Aleksandr asked tentatively.
Although it had not been long he had been blood bonded to his Master, the bond was still open and raw. It led to a lot of unwanted things being shared- thoughts, feelings, things the other would be mortified to know. Aleksandr still found himself unsure of Aeron. He knew his intentions, he knew how he acted, he knew why he did what he did. He just didn't know who Aeron really was, and it seemed, Aeron did not know either.
Aleksandr found himself comfortable with Aeron. No matter the forced blood bond. No matter the horrific acts the two had been subjected to. No matter what Aeron had subjected Aleksandr to, he still found him the safest to be around. Aleksandr realised it was more than just the bond that drew him to Aeron.
Aeron shrugged, slipping an arm around the vampires waist to pull him closer. Aleksandr smiled softly, relishing in the close contact. His beast was sated yet again, somehow quiet and calm.
"I'm fine, Aleksandr. I simply fear the worst. That prophecy is directed at me and if I am the reason a prophecy fails again, I fear they will respond how they know best. Destroying everything I hold close." Aerons admission had Aleksandrs brows furrowing.
What was he talking about?
"Master, the prophecy-" He hesitated. -"I recognise it." Aleksandr told him. "I do not know where from, however."
Aeron opened his mouth to speak, but paused. After a couple of seconds he spoke. "Treachery, in the deepest deep. Awoke a menace from a millennia-long sleep. Hero or villain, is there a difference? If the brother is saved by his host, Yet the villain saved the most." Aeron sighed, "You must decide where to stand. A brother of the last, lost In the pit. A choice to make, who will take the last hit? Make a choice. Choose your duty. Take responsibility-" He visibly sneered as he recited the words. -" decide if you are willing to lose everything."
Aleksandr swallowed thickly, gazing up at his human.
A knock rattled the door, and Aleksandr went to open it.
"What can I help you with, Brother?" Aleksandr asked, somewhat surprised by Alexeis appearance.
"I must speak with you about the prophecy." Alexei didn't give anything else, and Aleksandr stepped to one side.
"Master!" Aleksandr called. Aeron returned from the balcony to step beside Aleksandr and slipped slipped arm around his shoulder. "My brother wishes to speak to me about the prophecy."
Aeron nodded, his eyes raking over Alexeis form.
"The prophecy is one of old. Given by our late seer the day Rafael was born." Alexei told them. "It was the final prophecy. The prophecy of the eight, and it is about you, Aleksandr."
Aleksandrs brows furrowed, his features morphing into a look of confusion. "What do you mean, Brother?"
"The prophecy is yours." Alexei expanded on his earlier statement. "There are seven of us, we are each supposed to represent the key instincts of every vampire. What mortals came to know as the seven sins of morality. Each of our flaws are reflected in every vampire. Yours...." Alexei sighed, "Yours has never reared its head."
Aleksandrs brows furrowed further. Their specialities were rarely discussed for one reason and one reason only. No one knew what they really were, what caused them, or why they had them. All they knew was that each of these sins contributed to their species, it was what made up their beasts, the vampires within them.
It was much like the mortal interpretation of the seven deadly sins:
•Envy
•Wrath
•Pride
•Sloth
•Greed
•Gluttony
•Lust
Each sibling mimicked one of the traits. Aleksandr had previously been the image of his 'flaw'. Yet, it had never truly reared its head. He had never been forced to make a decision where his Pride had severely impacted the vampire race.
And who in their right mind could remain prideful, when all dignity is stripped from you? Aleksandr was a prideful vampire, he valued his appearance to others, he valued his reputation, and yet, he could kneel by a human man's feet and call him Master.
"What are we to do then, Brother?" Aleksandr asked Alexei, "You know our history the best. What are we to do?"
Alexei swallowed thickly, a grim smile crossing his face as he stared down at his beloved brother. "Prophecies speak truths we may never know. We must follow its guidance."
"This prophecy reaches further than just you," Aeron spoke suddenly. A soft sigh escaped him, annoyance clear on his features. "The prophecy was also directed at me. The traitor it speaks of- that traitor is me."
Aleksandr opened his mouth to say something in defence of his human, but Alexei didn't retaliate at the admission.
"What do you suggest we do?" This time, Aeron questioned the eldest Vampire.
Alexei sighed, looking grim. "All we can do is prepare for the worst. War is on our doorstep and our rebellions are failing. We must prepare for all out war without alerting the humans."
Aleksandr nodded, "Samael and Raphael can improve the training regimes. We can not risk the newborns. Their education and training can not change under any circumstance. It is far too dangerous. If we have a sudden increase of one issue, and that issue ends with control, we will have a war with our own."
Alexei swallowed thickly. Although it wasn't stated out loud, it neednt be said. Once war hit them, everyone was going to suffer.
Everyone was going to suffer, and it would be the ones that died trying that simply wanted peace.
